The best teachers my children have had brought the subject to life by discussion. The teacher who spends time after school addressing questions until the topic is understood.i believe too much technology will take away from the teacher who's personal and genuine interest in their subject. Kids spend enough time on the computer. They lack skills in verbal communication and appropriate body language. The best teachers my children have had brought the subject to life by discussion. A great teacher is one who is genuinely interested in their student's progress, who enjoys her vocation and looks forward to each new day, and whom has the support of the school district to provide them with the tools they require to succeed in their job. A great teacher should be able to keep his/her students engaged - with or without technology - although having technological skills would help that teacher communicate more effectively with students. We cannot avoid technology. To do so would be doing an injustice to our children, who will lead this country in the future. Every child must be computer-literate if they are to succeed. Technology can personalize each child's learning experience by adapting to their level of skill, keep parents apprised electronically, and would also provide a platform to view the teacher's technological skill in implementing these new technologies. One major factor that makes a teacher a great teacher is the ability to teach in different styles so that maybe 2 or 3 styles can be combined in hopes that more of the class can learn the lessons being taught. Being able to break down large projects into several smaller ones to be put together at the end of the project list. Giving reasonable and clear due dates for assignments to be completed. Emerging technologies can help to remind children to know what needs to be turned in and when...like merging their schedules with individual course due dates all in one place. If a teacher gives their classes a weekly assignment list it can help them develop their time management skills. A teacher is someone who will do what he/she can to get a child to understand information according to their learning style. I really am a proponent for individualized learning programs. Each child is accessed on his/her own ability. Children are individuals; They should take a test based on their own abilities and learning styles/modalities. Standardized test do not cut it for a lot of students. It is easy to use them, but not practical especially if the push in education is to differentiate every lesson. Standardized test do not provide for that so that makes all the work a teacher does null and void. Children are learning but there is no one fair assessment our there to show a child's true potential. I would like to see individualized learning programs and that can be done most effectively via technology. Kindergarten - 1 - Kindergarten - 1 - Page 3 of 8

They can differentiate instruction for different types of learners, and, depending on the grade level taught, can accommodate a struggling student by posting notes, etc., online, so that all lessons are available from home. We live in a world where technology is moving at a pace where the latest advancements become obsolete between 6-12 months after being released. That being said if we are not preparing our children for this world then we are doing them a huge disservice. More over we should be taking advantage of the technology to produce smarter generations. I leave you with this thought; how much more productive did schooling become after we figured out the technology of harnessing electricity?
