Dr Muffazal Lakdawala M.S. Founder, Centre for Obesity and Diabetes Surgery FIRST Indian Center for Excellence (ICE) for Bariatric Surgery
About CODS There is a lack of awareness amongst most people about a surgical cure for obesity. It is this lack of knowledge and understanding that prompted Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, to create a dedicated bariatric and metabolic surgery centre to battle obesity and its related comorbidities. CODS was founded in 2004. First Indian Center for Excellence for Bariatric Surgery In March 2011, Center for Obesity and Diabetes Surgery was the first such Indian center to be designated as an International Center for Excellence (ICE) for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery by the US based Surgical Review Corporation. SRC designation as an ICE is three pronged wherein the Surgeon that is myself, CODS and Saifee hospital were jointly designated as the Center for Excellence for Bariatric Surgery. In receiving this designation, we have joined an elite group of more than 600 facilities and 1,100 surgeons world- wide and are only the second centre in Asia to do so. 1.
