Introduction These instructions explain how to install the 3070 Software for MS Windows Revision 05.30p 0603 WN. This software can be used for: A first time installation of 3070 Test Development software on a personal computer (PC). See theappendix 1, PC Specifications for 3070 Development Software. An update of 3070 Test Development software on a personal computer. Software Installation Procedure (MS Windows): Backup the system If you uninstall the 3070 software later, all installed or modified files may not be completely removed or restored. An absolute uninstall is performed by restoring the hard drive from a full backup made before installing this software. Perform a complete system backup and make a system recovery DVD. Software Installation Procedure (MS Windows): PC Specifications for 3070 Development Software PC Specifications for 3070 Development Software If you are using this software to update a testhead controller, skip this section and proceed to Installing the Software on page 6. The PC must include a CD-ROM or DVD drive (reader) and adhere to these specifications: Processor Intel Pentium II or better, 450 MHz minimum. Operating System Two are supported: Memory MS Windows 1 NT 4 SP6a. To determine the service pack revision: 1) Click Start > Programs > Administrative Tools (Common) > Windows NT Diagnostics. 2) Click the Version tab (default). MS Windows 2000 Professional : 1) Click Start > Help. Windows 2000 Professional must be displayed. To determine the amount of memory: 1) Open Control Panel: 2) Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. 3) Double-click System to open it. Available Disk Space 600 MB minimum for all software. 400 MB for a minimal installation. For Windows 2000: click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer. 2) View the installation drive s Properties: For Windows NT: right-click on the installation drive; then click Properties. For Windows 2000: if necessary, click + next to My Computer to expand it; then right-click the installation drive and select Properties. Display Resolution 1024 by 768 or greater 256 or more colors To determine Display Resolution: 1) From the Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click Display; then click the Settings tab. Software Installation Procedure (MS Windows): Disk Drive Compatibility Disk Drive Compatibility All software must be installed to the same drive. The software MUST be installed to an NTFS-formatted drive. Verify the Drive Formatting Type 1 Open Windows Explorer: For Windows NT: click Start > Programs > Windows NT Explorer. For Windows 2000: click Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer. 2 Then: For MS Windows NT: right-click on the installation drive; then click Properties. For MS Windows 2000: if necessary, click the + next to My Computer to expand it; then right-click on the installation drive and click Properties. File system: must be NTFS. To Change the Drive Formatting Type If you have a FAT-formatted drive, you can convert it to NTFS as follows: Consult with your system administrator before changing the drive formatting type to help in avoiding possible errors. If you convert the drive to NTFS, you CANNOT use the convert command to change it back to FAT. To return to a FAT-formatted drive, reformat the drive. 1 Make a full backup of the FAT-formatted drive. 2 Open a Command Prompt window: For Windows NT: click Start > Programs > Command Prompt. For Windows 2000: click Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. 3 At the prompt, enter: convert <drive where the software will be installed> /fs:ntfs /v For example: convert c: /fs:ntfs /v 4 Close the Command Prompt window. 5 Make a full backup of the NTFS-formatted drive. Otherwise, errors could occur when using the software. Perform the installation as described in Table 1. Table 1 Install the software Task 1 Close all open programs. 2 If you are updating a testhead controller, shutdown the testhead before performing the update. Steps 3 Log in as administrator. (Or use a login with administrator privileges.) 4 Insert the Agilent 3070 software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. It should auto-start. If the installation does not auto-start after several seconds: a Right-click the desktop icon My Computer; then click Open. b Click on the CD-ROM or DVD drive to view the contents of the CD-ROM. c Double-click Setup (or Setup.exe). If you see an error message about ScanWorks, use Add/Remove Programs to remove ScanWorks from your system and start over. 5 In the InstallShield Wizard window: a Click Next >. b Click Yes if you agree to the software license. Do not remove the CD. The installation will continue after the reboot. Steps a Accept the default selection unless you have a specific need to change it. b Click Next >. a Browse to the license file and click Next >. The software MUST be installed to an NTFS-formatted drive. See the Disk Drive Compatibility on page 5. a In the Selected Components window, verify that the following are checked: Agilent 3070 Software Digital Part Libraries Show Agilent 3070 related icons on desktop b Click Next > to begin the installation. As the software loads, choose to accept all defaults (no action required). On NT systems you will be asked if you wish to install ADSI on your system. Click Yes, read the license, and click Yes. Then click OK. After a while, the PC should automatically restart. 9 Log in as Administrator. (Or the same login as in Task 3.) On Windows NT systems only, if you see a Service Control Manager pop-up window, ignore it and click OK. The software will continue loading and configuring the libraries. It should auto-start. Steps a Click Finish. If the installation does not auto-start after several seconds: a Right-click the desktop icon My Computer; then click Open. b Click on the CD-ROM or DVD drive to view the contents of the CD-ROM. c Double-click Setup (or Setup.exe). 12 Install the documentation files. If you already have documentation installed, you will get a choice of Modify, Repair or Remove. a Click Remove to ensure that all of the old doc files are replaced. b Click Next >. Click OK. c When the maintenance is complete, click Finish. d Remove and reinsert the CD-ROM in the drive. If you do not already have documentation installed, or you see the Welcome screen: a Click Next >. b Set the location or let it default and click Next >. c Choose the components to install and click Next >. d Choose to install on your hard drive (Yes) or not (No). The following steps apply to test development systems only; not to testhead controllers. If Acrobat was selected, it will now load: a In the Setup window, click Next >. b Accept the default destination unless you have a specific need to change it. c Click Next >. Click OK. a a Click Yes. Allow several minutes for the optimization to finish. b When the optimization is complete (graphics quit moving), click Close. 17 Copy needed files: a Log in as a non-3070 user. (There is no 3070 user login on this computer.) 18 Close the shell window and log out. Steps b Open a Korn shell window. c Execute setupenv.ksh. (This will copy four files to the $HOME folder.) Software Installation Procedure (MS Windows): Uninstalling the Software Uninstalling the Software Most software installed through this guide can be removed via the Add/Remove Programs Properties window: This uninstall procedure will not completely remove/restore all installed/modified files. An absolute uninstall is performed by restoring the hard drive from the full backup made before the 3070 software was installed. DO NOT remove MKS Platform Components 7.x before removing the Agilent 3070 software. If you do, you may not be able to run or remove the 3070 software without reformatting. 1 Login as administrator 2 Click Start > Settings > Control Panel. 3 In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs to open it. 4 From the displayed list, click the following programs in order then click Add/Remove... one at a time. Click No in all Remove Shared File? windows that appear. a Adobe Acrobat (removal is optional) b Agilent3070 (there may be more than one) c SCO XVision Eclipse d MKS Platform Components 7.x These messages related to the uninstall are expected and can be ignored: Failed to register with service.
