After obtaining a master s degree in Criticism and Projects at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña in Barcelona, Spain, Caterina channeled her energy into her design studio, PECA, which she started in Guadalajara in 2007. PECA has been the launching pad for bringing to fruition projects in architecture, interior and product design. Caterina is inspired by day-to-day experiences and by the way in which people interact with the objects around them. She creates pieces that can be incorporated into daily life and that translate the aesthetic richness of nature into designs with subtle, organic lines. Her mix of industrial and handcrafted processes results in pieces that are both refined and moving: objects with a human spirit that engage in a dialogue with their surroundings. Caterina s work has been shown in some of the most important venues in Mexico and around the world, including the Salone Satellite at the Milan Salone Internazionale del Mobile (2010), the exhibit Rethinking Tradition, Survey on Contemporary Design in Mexico, in Washington, D.C (2010), 20/20 at Galería Mexicana de Diseño in Mexico City (2010), Design from Jalisco at Musta & Valkionen Gallery, Helsinki (2012), and Arte Careyes (2013).
/ www.peca.com.mx LAVA For this independent design studio based in Guadalajara, Mexico, it s all in the details. s objects are carefully designed and manufactured to please the eye even when observing the smallest, most hidden aspects of each collection. Just like a coquettish freckle on an otherwise unassuming face the right piece of furniture or accessory can make an entire room beautiful. This is the philosophy behind the brainchild of architect-designer Caterina Moretti, who has been creating quirky, original objects since 2007. Accent pieces that have the ability to light up their surroundings (sometimes literally) are s trademark. Whether Caterina produces her own designs, collaborative designs, or works by talented guest artists, produces only beautiful, surprising designs of the highest quality.
