18 and 18T Series Jetted Shower and Jetted Tub/Shower 9 18 and 18T Series Jetted Shower and Jetted Shower XO The 18 Series Monitor and 18T Series TempAssure Jetted Showers are the only semi-custom showers in the industry. Two jet modules directly target users with a wide invigorating, yet relaxing spray. The XO (extra Outlet) model offers the option of an additional showerhead, XO Jet Module or handshower. What s more, standard 1/2" piping allows you to install the system without having to install a larger drain or water heater, making it ideal for remodels and new construction. Integrated H 2 0kinetic Technology delivers maximum water coverage and is 25% quieter than the original 18 Series jetted spray. Each valve should be plumbed directly from the main water supply. Note 2: Water pressure is very important to the performance of a jetted shower system. Water pressure should be a minimum of 45 psi. We do not recommend installing a Delta 18 or 18T Jetted Shower on a well system. The water pressure and water volume that is delivered by a well system is usually not adequate for the demands of custom shower systems. As a result you may have an unhappy customer. Note 3: It is against national codes to remove the flow restrictor from any outlet device. There are cases where homeowners remove the restrictor, but Delta discourages against this practice. Removing the flow restrictor will upset the balance of the system you design, negatively impact system performance, and void the warranty.

Placement Guide For Delta Jetted Tub/Shower Components User height is one of the most important considerations when deciding on component placement in the Delta Jetted Shower System you have designed. Remember that all users should be taken into account, from the shortest to the tallest. Special considerations should also be made if children or seated bathers will be using the system. A. Jetted Sprays should be easily accessible for all users of the shower system you are designing. B. The temperature control should be placed about waist high, which is usually about 36" from the bottom of the shower enclosure. (For tub/shower systems, the temperature control will need to be placed 8" 18" directly above the tub spout.) C. The showerhead should be installed so that it is above the head of the tallest user, but still within the reach of the shortest user. Steps to Designing a Custom Shower System I. H 2 0kinetic Technology Body Spray Designing a custom shower system begins with deciding what type of showering experience you want the system to deliver. With the Delta TempAssure Thermostatic Custom Shower, you ll be offering a very different shower experience. It features a revolutionary body spray that uses 36% less water while still delivering a full custom shower experience. Further, many shower systems use up to 2.5 gallons per minute on each body spray, but through Delta s state-of-the-art H 2 Okinetic Technology, this system creates the relaxing and massaging 2.5 gpm feel using only 1.6 gpm. Finally, the body sprays can be used alone or in combination with a showerhead and/or handshower to achieve the soothing, drenching experience customers desire. Note: When using two or more body sprays we recommend a pressure balancing loop. (See the example below.) H 2 Okinetic Body Spray Multiple Body Spray Pressure Balancing Loop II. Number of Showerheads, Body Sprays and Handshowers Now that you ve thought about the type of showering experience you desire, you re ready for the next key decision: how many water outlets showerheads, body sprays and handshowers do you want? Feel free to use the suggested layouts in this design guide, or you can create a custom layout that s uniquely yours (see page 41). Either way, reference the design matrix on page 33 to find the number of water outlets that will work within the limits of the 1/2" thermostatic valve(s) in your design. Remember, if the desired number of water outlets exceeds the capacity of one valve, you ll need to add a second valve to split the outlets equally between the two valves. III. The Thermostatic Valve and Trim Kit Identifying the correct components for the rough and trim phases of the project is not only next on the list it s your chance to create an ideal custom shower environment. The Delta TempAssure Custom Shower System features the TempAssure medium flow thermostatic control valve to maintain the correct temperature of your shower (±3.6 F), no matter what else is happening with water demand in other parts of the home.
Additionally, the TempAssure medium flow thermostatic control valve features separate adjustments for water temperature and volume. With universal 1/2" inlets/outlets, valve installation quick and easy. Select a multi-function showerhead to provide total relaxation or total invigoration with just a twist of the sprayface ring. Or, you can choose a raincan showerhead to offer a soothing, relaxing shower option. The Six-Position, Three-Port Diverter Valve Unlike most thermostatic valves, the Delta TempAssure valve controls ON/OFF and volume without a separate valve. With its multi-function, multi-position diverter, you have several options for controlling the individual outlets of a custom shower. The six-function diverter features three individual positions and three shared positions which can be set to flow water to individual or multiple outlets. This design eliminates the need for individual volume controls for each water outlet and/or body spray groups. In fact, you can operate any two options at one time or any option individually. V. The Water Heater Hot water supply. While a cold shower may feel good on a hot day, the water temperature should be a matter of choice. The hot water supply is critical in determining whether the system you ve designed will be a success! Typically about 70% of the water being used in a thermostatic body spray system is hot water. For help in calculating the hot water demand of your system, see the tables below. You ll want to be sure, however, to consult the licensed plumbing contractor doing the installation and/or the water heater manufacturer to determine if water heater s size and model is adequate. Placement Guide For 17T Series TempAssure Thermostatic Custom Shower Components User height is one of the most important considerations when deciding on component placement in the 17T Series TempAssure Thermostatic Custom Shower System you have designed. Remember that all users should be taken into account, from the shortest to the tallest. If there is a great difference in height between users you may want to plumb a separate volume control for the highest body spray so that a shorter user can turn it off without having to turn off the entire set of body sprays. Special considerations should also be made if children or seated bathers will be using the system. A. Diverter controls should be easily accessible for all users of the 17T Series TempAssure Custom Shower System you are designing. Typically they are just above or below the height of the thermostatic temperature control valve. B. The thermostatic temperature control should be placed about waist high, which is usually about 36" from the bottom of the shower enclosure. C. The lowest body spray is usually placed at knee or thigh height. D. The middle body spray is usually placed at hip or waist level. E. The highest body spray is usually placed at shoulder or back height. F. The showerhead should be installed so that it is above the head of the tallest user, but still within the reach of the shortest user. This way the tallest user does not have to crouch or duck under the showerhead to rinse their hair and shorter users can still reach the showerhead to manually adjust the spray modes of the showerhead.

Things to Note Note 1: When more than one valve is being used in a system, do not tee from the 1/2 or 3/4" water supplies to accommodate the second valve. Each valve should be plumbed directly from the main water supply. Note 2: Water pressure is very important to the performance of a custom shower system. Water pressure should be a minimum of 45 psi. We do not recommend installing a 17T Series TempAssure Custom Shower on a well system. The water pressure and water volume that is delivered by a well system is usually not adequate for the demands of custom shower systems. As a result you may have an unhappy customer. Note 3: It is against national codes to remove the flow restrictor from any outlet device. There are cases where homeowners remove the restrictor, but Delta discourages against this practice. Removing the flow restrictor will upset the balance of the system you design, negatively impact system performance, and void the warranty. Note 4: When using two or more body sprays, we recommend a pressure balancing loop. (See the example on page 24.) Note 5: One 1/2" 6-Position, 3-Port diverter can control up to 6 body sprays.
