Managing Your Network Password Using MyPassword Your Otterbein network password allows you to log in to O-Zone, Blackboard, the OtterbeinU wireless network, and other network resources. Using MyPassword, you can change and reset your own password without having to contact the Otterbein ITS Help Desk. Please note that using MyPassword will only affect your network password, not your Gmail password. You can manually set up both accounts to have the same password, but changing one will not automatically change the other. To change your Gmail password, please go to Gmail Password Reset or contact the Otterbein ITS Help Desk. If you do not know your network password and need to set up your MyPassword profile for the first time, please call the Help Desk at extension x3100 (614-823-3100 from off-campus) or email helpdesk@otterbein.edu. The Help Desk will only reset network passwords to assist you with creating your MyPassword profile for the first time. For more information on changing your password, please visit the Password Management website by going to the Otterbein homepage at www.otterbein.edu and clicking the Resources link in the upper right corner. To begin, open the Self-Service Password Management support web page at https://mypassword.otterbein.edu.

Edit My Profile If this is your first time using MyPassword, you will need to set up your MyPassword profile using a phone number capable of receiving text messages. Click on Edit My Profile and enter a phone number in the format of 614-555-1234. If you do not have a phone capable of receiving text messages and do not know your password, please contact the Help Desk. Change My Password If you have already set up your MyPassword profile and need to change your network password, click on Change My Password. Log in using your username and network password, then create a new password or generate a random one. Reset My Password If you have set up your MyPassword profile but do not remember your password, click on Reset My Password. Type in your username. Then, you will receive a text message containing a code. Enter that code into the MyPassword site in order to create a new password. Unlock My Account If your account has been locked from too many incorrect login attempts, click on Unlock My Account. Type in your username. Then, you will receive a text message containing a code. Enter that code into the MyPassword site to unlock your network account. If you do not remember your password, now follow the reset my password instructions. Edit My Profile On the Edit My Profile page, log in using your Otterbein network username and password:

Enter your mobile phone number capable of receiving text messages in the format of 614-555-1234. Include the area code and dashes: If entered correctly, you will see a message confirming that your MyPassword profile has been updated. Click OK to return to the Main Menu: Change My Password IMPORTANT: **************************************************************************** Before you change your password, disconnect your wireless devices from the OtterbeinU and/or Eduroam wireless network, including phones and tablets. Some devices will continue attempts to logon with your former password and lock your account. If that happens, see the Unlock My Account section below. Remember to reconnect your wireless devices with your newly changed password. **************************************************************************** Once you have set up your MyPassword profile and returned to the main menu, click on Change My Password. Log in using your network username and password and pick one of the two modes: Enter Password or Generate:

Enter Password: Enter a password of your own that complies with the minimum requirements of Otterbein University s password policy, which states that a password must be rated Strong and meet the following guidelines: Minimum of eight characters (letters, numbers, symbols) in length Include at least one uppercase alphabetic character Include at least one lowercase alphabetic character Include at least one numeric character Password must be new; you cannot use a password that you have used before Anyone who uses INB Banner should not use the following characters: ampersand (&), at symbol (@), slash (/), backslash (\), single quote ( ), or double quotes ( ). Generate: Generate a random password by clicking the Generate button. Make sure that the password is rated Strong or Excellent. Once you have generated your new network password, click on Submit to return to the main menu. You have now successfully changed your network password.

Reset My Password If you do not know your network password, click on Reset My Password and enter your username: If you have created your MyPassword profile and provided a mobile phone number, you will receive a text message containing a code: Enter that code into MyPassword and click Submit to create a new password:

Unlock My Account Your network account will lock after too many bad login attempts. A wireless device attempting to connect to the network after a password reset might also trigger a lock on your account. To unlock your network account, click on Unlock My Account and enter your username: If you have created your MyPassword profile and provided a mobile phone number, you will receive a text message containing a code:

Enter that code into MyPassword and click Submit to unlock your network account: Click the Unlock Account button to unlock your network account: If you cannot remember your password after unlocking your account, click on Reset My Password and follow the instructions for resetting your network password.
