Scheduled Publishing JAVS Scheduled Publishing will allow you to schedule the publishing of AutoLog sessions through a Windows schedule utility program. Scheduled Publishing will publish only those session files that have not yet been published, so the user does not have to keep track of what has or has not been published. Scheduled Publishing can be used with a scheduling utility or can be manually operated. The published files can be viewed by JAVS Viewer 7 by launching the associated JVL file in the published folder. AutoLog 7 requires that you have Administrative User Rights to be able to publish using Scheduled Publishing. Installation/Configuration Insert the supplied CD and launch JAVS Scheduled Publishing 7.0.0 Setup.exe. (do not install on the JAVS recorder). 1. Launch the Installer and follow the Wizard. 2. After installation is complete, navigate to C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing. 3. Open the file; ScheduledPublishingConfig.exe. 4. 5. Press the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing and select the file ScheduledPublishingConfig.xml. 6. The Configuration File Editor will populate with the JAVS Default settings. 7. In the Database IP field, type in the IP Address of your primary recorder followed by \JAVS. 8. Keep JAVS as your Database name. 9. In the Device IP field, type in the IP Address of your primary recorder. 10. Type in your AutoLog user name and password. You must have Administrator Security Rights. 11. You can keep the Publish Path or create your own. This is the folder where your data will be published. 12. Use the Filters to include Public/Private information and/or include Computer name and Location in the file path. When complete, press Save. Note: If you choose Include Computer Name and the location name is changed in SiteManager, you must manually change the Publishing Path location name. Copyright JAVS 1981-2010 5
Manual Operation 1. Select Start>Run and type in cmd in the command prompt and press Enter. 2. Type in cd, space, C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing. Press Enter. 3. In this directory we need to type in the executable file and then pass in a command line argument. Type: ScheduledPublishing.exe space.\scheduledpublishingconfig.xml. Press Enter. 4. Files will be copied from the primary recorder and placed in the directory you chose in the Configuration File Editor. 5. Close the Command Prompt. 6 Copyright JAVS 1981-2010
Automating Scheduled Publishing Windows XP: 1. Select Start>Control Panel. 2. Double click the Scheduled Tasks icon. 3. The Scheduled Tasks window will open. Double click the Add Scheduled Task icon. Copyright JAVS 1981-2010 7
4. The Scheduled Task Wizard will open. Press Next. 5. The next screen will give you a list of programs to run. Select the Browse button and browse to C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing. Select ScheduledPublishing.exe and press Open. 8 Copyright JAVS 1981-2010
6. In the next screen, give your task a name and select when you want the task to run. Press Next. 7. The next screen will let you set the time and date. Press Next. Copyright JAVS 1981-2010 9
8. In the next screen of the Wizard, you will type in your Windows User Name and Password. Confirm your password and press Next. 9. On the Finish screen, check Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish. Press Finish. 10 Copyright JAVS 1981-2010
10. The Scheduled Publishing Task properties window will open. 11. The Run field will be filled in with the executable file but will need to have a command line argument. 12. After the Quotes in the Run field, type in.\scheduledpublishingconfig.xml. The Run field should have this text: "C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing\ScheduledPublishing.exe".\scheduledpublishingconfig.xml 13. The Start in field should also be populated with the proper path. The path should read; "C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing". Note: If spaces exist in the path name (Start in field), you will need to provide Quotes at the beginning and end on the line. 14. 3. The Task Scheduler window will open. Select Create Basic Task 4. The Create Basic Task wizard will open. Give the task a name in the Name field and a description if desired. Press Next. Copyright JAVS 1981-2010 13
5. The next screen will allow you to select when the task is to be performed. Make your selection and press Next. 6. The next screen will allow you to set your start date and the recurrence of the task. Make your selections and press Next. 14 Copyright JAVS 1981-2010
7. In the Action screen, select Start a program. Press the Next button. 8. In the Start a Program screen, press the Browse button and navigate to C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing and select the file ScheduledPublishing.exe Copyright JAVS 1981-2010 15
9. In the Add Argument field, add the command line argument;.\scheduledpublishingconfig.xml. 10. In the Start in field, set the path of the executable file; C:\Program Files\JAVS\Utilities\Scheduled Publishing. Press the Next button. 11. The Summary screen will allow you to verify your settings before you finish creating the task. If your settings are correct, press the Finish button.
