Overview Why do we need to make changes to our hourly student hiring practices? To address the A133 Federal Work Study (FWS) findings, the University is addressing the need for common hiring practices and pay rate practices for all hourly student positions 2015-16 Mitigation (co-led by Lisa Krieg and Dan McNulty) - Investigate and implement common practices, which will be informed by the FWS findings and parameters. - Two working groups formed to assist in the process Hourly Student Employment & Pay Rates Practices Working Group Hourly Student Employment Stakeholders Advisor

Overview Hourly Student Employment Stakeholders Advisory Goal: Inform and complement the effort of the Practices Working Group to assure broadly workable outcomes by providing direct recommendations that support common practices, suggesting customization and accommodation, and promoting best practices that benefit all students.

Overview The right thing to do! This process may have started because of the A133 audit finding, however its not the driving force. The University has an opportunity, and responsibility, to improve our student employee experience by implementing common hourly hiring practices across all of our departments.

Implementing Best Hiring Practices Fall 2015 Create and implement new Student Job Profiles and Position Descriptions - Job Profile was formerly known as Job Code Classification (JCC) - Review 30+ new descriptive Hourly Undergraduate and Graduate Job profiles Create hourly student hiring materials which validate the student rate of pay and attach documentation when adding jobs in Workday - Application - Email notification from hiring manager/department - Offer letter - Workday auto-generated email, effective May 2015

Retiring Old Job Profiles Unfilled open positions with job profile 7013 and 8003 will be closed on July 20, 2015 by HRIT Report to identify these items: RPT-921- Student Hourly Other Job Profile Audit Any filled positions will not be closed!
