Cameron Parish School System Notes to accompany 9 month salary schedule: Demand $300. Demand stipend for teachers with education degree of Master s or above in current field of teaching (teaching 3 or more classes), to be paid by November 1 st of each school year, based on current year s classes taught. Proficient $300. Performance stipend to be paid by November 1 st of each school year, based on previous year s performance. Highly effective $500. Performance stipend to be paid by November 1 st of each school year, based on previous year s performance. Base $400. increase if attaining Proficient or Highly Effective evaluation rating, added to base salary at beginning of each school year. Step levels do not equal years of experience. Currently employed Cameron Parish teacher s salaries for 2013 14 will be placed at the step level of the new salary schedule at the salary closest to, but not less than, the current salary for 2012 13 school year, per ACT 1 of the 2012 Regular Legislative Session. Teachers currently employed in 2012 13, with advanced degrees outside of subject area, will receive that salary increase within step to which they are assigned, as no 9 month teacher will earn a salary less than what they are paid in the 2012 13 school year. Base salaries for currently employed teachers hired after July 1, 1996 will be frozen at step 34, but are eligible for demand and performance stipends throughout their teaching careers. Base salaries for currently employed teachers hired prior to July 1, 1996 will be frozen at step 44, but are eligible for demand or performance stipends throughout their teaching careers. Newly hired teachers with less than five years of experience, or greater than twenty five years of experience, will be placed on the salary schedule at the step equal to their verifiable years of teaching experience with the base salary frozen at step 34. Newly hired certified and experienced teachers with greater than five years of experience, but less than twenty five years of experience, will be placed on the Cameron Parish School Board current salary schedule at the salary step closest to their verifiable salary from a state approved school system with their base salary frozen at step 34. Teachers rated Ineffective or Emerging Effective will not receive a pay step increase for experience the following year. Performance ratings are based on COMPASS evaluations, per Act 1 of the 2012 Regular Legislative Session.
