Prerequisites Microsoft Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008 Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008 IIS **For Windows Server 2003. You must manually configure IIS6 to allow Microsoft.NET Framework 4 and to fully support the pipeline view in Point 8.0. Instructions are below. (SQL For organizations larger than 50 users) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Workgroup, Standard, or Enterprise Edition, with latest service pack. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Workgroup, Standard, or Enterprise Edition with latest service pack. (SQL For organizations smaller than 50 users) Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with latest service pack Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with latest service pack Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express is required. **SQL 2000 is not supported with PointCentral 8.0. **Point 8.0 is not compatible with PointCentral 7.6 or below. Install IIS 1. From the server, go to the Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 3. From the left pane, select Add/Remove Windows Components. 4. From the Windows Components Window, check the Application Server checkbox and then click Details. 5. From the Application Server window, check the Internet Information Services (IIS) checkbox and then click Details.
6. From the Internet Information Services (IIS) window, check the Internet Information Services Manager and the World Wide Web Service checkbox. 7. Click OK. 8. Click OK from the Application Server window. 9. Click Next from the Windows Components window. Install SQL Server 2005 If SQL Server 2005 is not already installed, view article 0668 Installing SQL for directions on installing SQL Server 2005. **For Windows Server 2003 Only** Microsoft.NET 4 must be manually configured in IIS before any user can access PointCentral data. PointCentral Administration website will not load, (Page cannot be displayed) 1. Open IIS. 2. From the IIS Manager window, expand the server and expand Web Sites. 3. Highlight Web Service Extensions. 4. Select ASP.NET v4.0.30319 and then click Allow. Manually Configure IIS6 You must manually configure IIS6 if you are using Windows Server 2003 in order to fully support the new Pipeline View in Point 8.0. Click here for instructions. Install PointCentral 8.0 1. Go to the PointCentral server. 2. Login at MyCalyx.com. 3. From the landing page, click Download Server Software.
4. From the Electronic Deployment page, select 8.0 and click Download. 5. From the PointCentral 8.0 Installation page, select Install or Update PointCentral. 6. Select to Run or Save the installation executable. 7. Microsoft.NET Framework 4 will install if it is not already and you may be required to restart the server to continue with the PointCentral update. 8. From the Installshield Wizard, click Next and then accept the License Agreement.
9. From the Destination Folder window, click Next. (The path is defaulted to your current install location.) 10. From the Ready to Install the Program window, click Install and then click Finish when completed.
11. When the PointCentral installation has completed, the PointCentral - Configuration Wizard will automatically open. From the PointCentral - Configuration Wizard, your Company Name and Account ID should populate; click Next. 12. From the Introduction window, select which version of SQL is currently installed and then click Next. NOTE: SQL Sever 2000 is not supported
13. From the Database Connection Information window, the SQL Server Name and Named Instance are defaulted. Enter the SQL SA password and click Next. (The SA password was created when you initially installed SQL Server) 14. From the Database Upgrade window click Next and from the Database Verifications Complete window, click Next. This window will display the location of the PointCentral Database and PointCentral configuration files.
15. From the DNS and SSL Certificate Provider window, select whether your PointCentral server uses a Calyx Resolver service or your custom DNS and SSL Certificate and then click Next. If you selected to Use my custom DNS solution and SSL Certificate, skip to step 15. If you selected to Use the Calyx Resolver Service, the Calyx Resolver Domain Name and IP address window will appear. Unless you need to make changes, just keep the default settings and click Next. 16. From the Reset NTSF Permissions window, click Next. and then click Finish to
complete the PointCentral Configuration Wizard. Additional Information PointCentral 8.0 utilizes a MyCalyx Digital Key to manage users and licenses. The MyCalyx Digital Key refreshes monthly and is synchronized with your MyCalyx.com account. When you log into https://www.mycalyx.com, you will notice a MyCalyx Digital Key button. When you log into your PointCentral Administration website and navigate to Parameters, you will notice a MyCalyx Digital Key field. PointCentral will automatically obtain the MyCalyx Digital Key every month. However, if the server is not able to communicate with the MyCalyx.com server due to internet access or restrictions, you will need to manually copy the MyCalyx Digital Key from MyCalyx.com to your PointCentral Administration page.
