Lappeenranta Academic Library The joint research library of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences and Lappeenranta University of Technology was opened in August 2011. The Academic Library has premises on two campuses, Skinnarila in Lappeenranta and Linnala in Imatra. The library covers the disciplines of technology, economics and business administration, health and social sciences and arts, with approximately 150,000 titles. The electronic collection includes 180 databases, ebooks, magazines and reference books. The newspaper room subscribes to approximately 900 journals. The number of employees is 21, and the library has approximately 1,000 users per day. The Lappeenranta Academic Library is also open to the general public.
Students Every year, approximately 600 students graduate from Saimaa University of Applied Sciences Total number of students 3,200 697 international students, of which 458 are degree students and 239 exchange students (year 2012) Attraction In the national joint application for Finnish-language education 1340 students applied to Saimaa UAS in the spring 2014 as their first choce (total number of applicants was 3340). Student counselling one can apply for the UAS or university after completing upper secondary education (either the national matriculation examination or the the vocational qualification) Adult students can study part time and combine working and studying.
Our financing is based on results so helping the student to study quickly and efficiently is vital for us. Our strenght is our small size: we have a system where every student has a tutorteacher who knows this students situation well and will help if needed.
