It requires that everyone, without exception, within the organisation is made aware of the importance of fire safety and given knowledge of; and the chance to practice basic fire safety procedures. As you may be aware the most significant reform in the Building Fire Safety Regulation 2008 is the requirement for occupiers of high occupancy buildings, as defined under the Building Fire Regulation 2008, to appoint and train a Fire Safety Adviser. A FSA is person who holds a building fire safety qualification for an approved building fire safety course, issued within the last 3 years. Version 2.0 Issue Date: December 2014 HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE REFRESHER COURSE Course Code: WHSA-HSR-RFS01 This course will provide deemed HSRs with additional information and skills required for HSRs under the new WHS legislation including: An understanding of the new Work Health and Safety legislation; 1 day Course Times 8.30am- 4.30pm May 4 October 12 {Evidence of completion of the Initial 5 day HSR training program will need to be provided} Public Course: $360 per participant An understanding of how it applies to their role as elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSR); and The additional knowledge and skills necessary to use their powers under the new WHS legislation in issuing Provisional Improvement Notices and directing unsafe work to cease. The HSR Refresher course covers the following topics: Work Health and Safety Framework WHS framework and new terminology, Duty holders and their duties, Role and function of WHSQ; and Consultation, Representation and Participation Consultation requirements under WHS legislation; Roles and responsibilities of HSRs and Health and Safety Committees; and Role of the HSR, Issue Resolution and Support Role of HSRs in consultation, assisting workgroups and as a member of a HSC; Investigating complaints; and Issue resolution and support for HSRs. Monitoring Risk Management and Notifiable Incidents Key requirements of risk management; Contact Monitoring and review of risk controls; and Notifiable incidents. And more A certificate of attainment will be issued and will qualify the successful participant to exercise the entitlements of a HSR under the WHS Act 2011.
