City of Watertown Watertown City Council October 13 th, 2015 Agenda Item: Highland Park Roof and Dugout Repairs Request for Action: Approve Resolution #2015-103, Approving Bid from JLF Homes, Inc. Department: Shane Fineran, City Administrator Request for Action Background: During the severe storm that hit the Watertown area in July of this year, City facilities located at Highland Park suffered damage to the roof of the dugouts and large park shelter. Staff have been attempting to gather quotes from area contractors to perform this repair work. Due to a variety of circumstances, but largely due to contractor schedules and the small nature of this project, it has been difficult in getting quotes from interested parties. We did receive one quote from an interested contractor, JLF Homes of Maple Plain to perform the necessary work to repair these three structures. The repair consists of replacement of damaged metal roof sheeting on the park shelter and the construction of new roof structures on the dugouts. Staff had received requests from area stakeholders about the possibility of raising the interior height of the dugout roofs as part of this repair. The quote submitted includes this item through the framing and wrapping of a knee wall that increases the interior height by 12. All framing will be properly secured to the block walls and wrapped in metal materials that match the roofing materials. The submitted quote totals $11,833.22. The repair estimate has been submitted to LMCIT for review of eligibility for insurance reimbursement. Staff is recommending approval of the quote dependent upon the scope and costs being approved by LMCIT. Funding Source: General Fund > Parks Attachments: Quote from JLF Homes, Inc.
