Industrial internship Your coach: Catherine Marselli Information session: September 30th Time: 12:15 (in French) 13:15 (in English) Room: CHB331
Minor Possibility to attend a minor instead of an industrial internship Organisation: in parallel or after the curriculum of our MSc, the student attends courses of an EPFL's Minor Completion: at least 30 credits Minor proposals : http://sac.epfl.ch/page35359-en.html
Minor Selection Your choice of minor must be valided by our section + the section offering the minor Application & Registration : Now: registration on IS-Academia for courses attending in Automn 2012 October 15th: Minor choice announcement to the Section (enrolment form in Intership vs Minor) End of December: official registration on IS-Academia (end of Fall semester)
Consequences for the MSc thesis If an industrial internship is completed, the Master thesis must be done in academia (EPFL or in an University abroad). If a minor is completed, the Master thesis must be done in industry. The 90 credits (Master cycle including Internship or Minor) must be obtained before starting the Master thesis. ie. for most of you MSc thesis is scheduled for Spring 2014 An information about the Master thesis will be given next semester.
Studies commitments To complete successfully your MSc, you have to : Get at least the 60 credits of the curriculum Pass your internship or minor (30 credits) Pass your MSc thesis (30 credits) Each course is subject to an examination (oral, written or continous) The credits related to a specific course are gained with a sufficient score (4.0) or more (up to 6) Courses are placed together in blocs (blocs 1, 2 and 3) Sufficient average bloc's score leads to the attribution of the whole credits of the bloc: Σ(individual scores X credits) / Σ credits 4.00
Studies commitments The final MSc score is calculated in the following manner: a) MSc with internship Curriculum's exams: Average score 1 60 cred. Internship: (pass or fail) no score 30 cred. MSc cycle score = average score 1 Final score = (MSc cycle score x 90 + MSc thesis x 30) / 120
Studies commitments The final MSc score is calculated in the following manner: b) MSc with minor Curriculum's exams: Average score 1 60 cred. Minor: Average score 2 30 cred. MSc cycle score = (average score 1 x 60 + average score 2 x 30) / 90 Final score = (MSc cycle score x 90 + MSc thesis x 30) / 120
