Welcome Messages It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the International Workshop on Scilab&OW2 (IWSO), which will be held in Nanjing, on October 14-16, 2012. Over the past decade, Open-source Software for Scientific Computation (OSSC) has entered a fast growing stage for both industrial and educational purposes. The aim of organizing 2012 International Workshop on Scilab&OW2 is to bring together an international community of researchers and practitioners to present, discuss, and share new research results, future developments and applications relevant to SCILAB and OW2. The IWSO 2012 is hosted by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, LIAMA, Institute of Automation, CAS, and technically co-sponsored by INRIA, France; Scilab Enterprises, France and Orange Labs, France. Succeeding to OSSC 2011, we continue to adopt the following format in this workshop to boost the participation of the attendees and effectiveness of the discussion, i.e. oral presentation of the works first by authors and then followed by posters for individual discussions. Here we would like to extend sincere thanks to Program Committee members for their thorough pre-screening of all the submissions, and to Organizing Committee, contributing authors and other participants for their efforts in making this workshop possible. Welcome to IWSO 2012! We are looking forward to meeting you in October, the golden season of a year, in Nanjing. Hong Nie and Baogang HU General Chairs Pinqi Xia, Zhiqiu Huang, Cedric Thomas and Claude GOMEZ Program Chairs
Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) is one of China s premier learning and research institutions which now develops into a comprehensive university especially featured with Aerospace Engineering. Ever since it was established in 1952, we have strived to conduct world-level research and education system. Nearly 60 years history witnesses its unremitting efforts and remarkable achievements. Academia and education at NUAA represent strong capacity among all the universities in China. It has acquired national status through the quality of its excellence research work, especially in the areas of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanics, Electromechanics, Economy and Management, etc. Our university s laboratories are a constant source of new ideas, especially in the fields of Aircraft Design, Dynamics, Mechanics, Manufacturing, Automation and Unconventional Machining, etc. Through the diverse research and teaching activities, we are striving to provide the highest quality of educational experience for students to meet the current needs of society, endowing them with a passport to the professional world and cultivating them into future pioneers in the fields of science and technology. The globalization of societies, economies and technologies represents many complex challenges that universities are facing today. In response to those challenges, NUAA will persistently create more new academic values and construct more diverse education and research programs. We are also planning to set forth new developing strategies to maintain NUAA s leading role in China, like constructing high-level research-oriented university featured with Aeronautics, Astronautics and Civil Aviation, with coordinated development of multi-disciplines including literature, law, philosophy, etc.; fostering high-qualified citizens and innovative pioneers and spreading its academic wings to the nation as well as to the world. We d like you to explore more about NUAA and we believe that by carrying out our missions and various activities at NUAA, and by seeking more opportunities with more world-class universities, enterprises and a wide variety of people, we will transform into a more outstanding, more respected and more globalized university. Our staff will become more internationalized academically and professionally, and our students will be well equipped for their career intellectually and socially.
College of Computer Science and TechnologyNUAA The College of Computer Science and Technology of NUAA was founded in 2010. Its history dates back to the year of 1959. It was one of the earliest computer science departments nationwide. It was among the first group of universities which are authorized to award master degrees on computer application, doctor degrees on computer science and technology, and doctor degrees on software engineering. After over fifty years development, the college now has two primary disciplines doctoral programs, i.e., computer science and technology and software engineering (covering 8 secondary disciplines). Computer science and technology is recognized as the superiority discipline, and software engineering is recognized as a key discipline in Jiangsu Province. The college now has one center for post-doctoral studies on computer science and technology and four undergraduate majors, i.e., computer science and technology, information security, software engineering and internet of things engineering. The total enrollment of the college is more than 1600 students, consisting of over 1000 undergraduates and 600 postgraduates. Presently, there are near 100 faculty members in our college. Among them there are more than 20 professors or doctoral supervisors, and 40 associate professors. Many of them have been awarded national prized as of their achievements. Each year, many research projects of the college are supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, 973 Project, 863 Project or other important research projects of the state or enterprises, with a total research fund worth nearly 20 million yuan. Great achievements have been made in the fields of computer science. Our college has gained more than 10 prizes at national, provincial and ministry level in recent years. More than 400 research papers have been indexed by SCI, EI, and ISTP. All these have created a superior environment for students doing researches, developing abilities and making innovations. Our students actively participate in colorful science and technology activities and have gained prizes in contests, such as ACM International Programming Contest, etc. We have achieved the best places in the contest compared with other universities within Jiangsu Province. In Microsoft s Imagine Cup software contest, we have got the fifth place, and Bill Gates awarded the prize for our achievements. Moreover, our students have got the first place in National Challenge Cup, silver medal of European OW2 open source programming contest, and so on. Our college advocates international cooperation. We have invited more than 100 renowned experts both home and abroad to give lectures in recent years. More than half of the graduates have the opportunities for further education in prestigious universities from both home and abroad. Students graduated from this college are welcomed by education institutes, research institutions and well-known enterprises. Each year, we have dispatched a consideratble number
of teachers and students to visit famous universities or research institutions abroad. Throughout 50 years, our college has cultivated more than 5000 undergraduates and 1000 post graduates. Many of them have become successful specialists, leaders and entrepreneurs. In the new era, we will fully commit ourselves to build our college into a high-level of research and education center. OW2 Consortium The global community for open source software infrastructure The OW2 Consortium is proud to be associated with Scilab in this programming contest and international workshop for the promotion of free and open source software in China. OW2 is a global open-source software community which goal is the development of open-source software infrastructure and the growth of a vibrant community and business ecosystem. The consortium is an independent non-profit organization open to companies, public organizations, academia and individuals. OW2 fosters a component-based approach in the form of flexible and adaptable modules; components range from specific software frameworks and protocols to applications and integrated platforms. Open source was established from the onset as an unconventional means to share code among developers; over the years, it has evolved into a major structuring factor in the software industry. The OW2 Consortium was launched to leverage this fundamental trend and to become the premier independent community for open source infrastructure software in the world. Moreover, OW2 provides a meeting point for stakeholders of differing natures who share an interest, either technical or business, for open-source software infrastructure. In the open source software value chain, OW2 is an industry platform facilitating interaction between open source code Producers and open source code Consumers. In China, the community is represented by the OW2 China Local Chapter which was established in 2007 by prestigious academic and industry organizations such as Peking University, BeiHang University, National University of Defense Technology (NUDT), CVIC Software Engineering Co., Ltd. (CVIC-SE) and Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISCAS). In China, OW2 operates in partnership with the Trustie project supported by the Ministry Of Science and Technology (MOST). The international workshop organized in conjunction with Scilab will provide attendees the opportunity to discover state-of-the-art open source technology. This is a unique opportunity to hear leading academics and practitioners from the OW2 China Local Chapter present world-class projects freely available from the OW2 and Trustie code bases. Last but not least, on behalf of the OW2 community, we'd like to say thank you to the contest participants who dedicated the time and effort to make the OW2 Programming Contest a real success. Cedric Thomas CEO, OW2 Consortium
