Standard file systems available with each platform that is supported can be found in the appropriate Host Connectivity Guide, located at https://elabnavigator.emc.com. f. Cross-connected hosts for Metro configurations are supported up to 1 ms RTT. For Veritas VCS/SFRAC/VxCFS, the minimum support is 5.1. In a cross-connect configuration, it is recommended to set "auto-resume" attribute on the consistency groups to true. g. Starting with VPLEX GeoSynchrony version 5.3, cross-connected hosts for Metro configurations are supported up to 5 ms RTT. h. If using DMP, the same minimum version for the entire Symantec software suite must be used. i. GeoSynchrony 5.0.1 is the minimum version for support. j. Pvlinks is an HP-UX alternate pathing solution that does not support load balancing. Not supported with Oracle RAC. k. Components Switches All FC SAN switches (2 Gb/s or greater) from EMC Connectrix, Brocade, Cisco, and QLogic. Refer to the E-Lab Navigator (ELN) at https://elabnavigator.emc.com, Switched Fabric Topology Parameters table for switch interoperability support. All EMC-approved 10 GbE FCoE switches from Brocade and Cisco for host connectivity. Only Cisco FCoE switches can be used to connect VPLEX storage arrays. Refer to the ELN for specific models and firmware support. Refer to the Networking for Storage Virtualization and EMC RecoverPoint TechBook, located at https://elabnavigator.emc.com, for implementation information. Hosts Servers/Adapters All Fibre Channel HBAs from Emulex and QLogic (2 Gb/s or greater) and Brocade (8 Gb/s or greater), including vendor rebranded versions. Solaris requires an RPQ when using any Brocade HBA. All 10 Gb/s Emulex, QLogic, Dell based on QLogic BCM 578xx t, Brocade, Cisco, and Intel CNAs a (10GbE NICs that support FCoE). Any EMC or vendor-supplied OS-approved driver/firmware/bios is allowed. EMC recommends using latest E-Lab Navigator listed driver/firmware/bios versions. Refer to the ESM, located at https://elabnavigator.emc.com, and use EMC VMAX or EMC VNX, along with the desired HBA model and operating system, as the search criteria to find the latest supported driver/firmware/bios versions. Adapters must support link speed compatible with switch (fabric) or array (direct connect). All host systems are supported where the host and OS vendors allow the host/os/adapter combination. If systems meet the criteria in this ESSM, and the ELN connectivity validations in referenced footnotes are adhered to, then no RPQ is required. VPLEX does not support host direct connections and requires HBAs to be connected to supported fabric switches. Distance Extension b Refer to the EMC Support Matrix, Distance Extension Solution table at https://elabnavigator.emc.com regarding WDM/DWDM /FC support for VPLEX Metro and the table header regarding VPLEX Geo. FCIP EMC Connectrix/Brocade models: MP-7800B/7800; ED-48000B/48000, MP-7840B/7840; ED-DCX-B/DCX; and ED-DCX-4S-B/DCX-4S. Cisco models: MDS9250i, MDS 9222i,MDS 95xx with 18/4-port MSM blade or 16-port SSN blade. FCIP is currently supported only on VPLEX Metro. HCL (Hot Code Load) with VPLEX is supported only with the specific FOS versions listed for Connectrix MP-7840B in the EMC Support Matrix https://elabnavigator.emc.com. VPLEX short-write was introduced in VPLEX 5.2 SP1. The feature is not compatible with FCIP Fast Write (Brocade) and FCIP Write Acceleration (Cisco). This feature must be disabled on the FCIP switches to ensure that VPLEX works properly. Cisco IVR and Brocade FCR are not supported for VPLEX WANcom (DWDM and FCIP).
