JOB DESCRIPTION 1. JOB TITLE: Senior Web Developer 2: HRMS REFERENCE NUMBER: HR14144 3. ROLE CODE: WEBDEVHSC 4. DEPARTMENT: Health and Social Care 5. ORGANISATION CHART: Reports to the Head of Department 6. JOB PURPOSE: The role holder is required to undertake high level web development and administrative duties within two diverse cross regional projects. The post involves complex oral and written communication skills in terms of producing reports, application procedures and contributing to strategic documents. The role holder will oversee the Technical Support Officer and support the Project Administrative Officer and therefore be responsible for the technical provision across the projects. The role holder will be required to develop codes in response to on-going project development and evaluation. 7. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Standardised Numeracy Assessment Process and the Practice Assessment Record and Evaluation tool are Northwest Regional Projects commissioned by Health Education Northwest with the intention of improving learning outcomes and practice education within the Healthcare sector. The recognised need to improve current processes regarding the assessment of healthcare staff and students have resulted in online e-learning projects being delivered under the commission of Health Education Northwest and hosted by the University of Chester. 8. WORK PERFORMED AND/OR KEY RESULT AREAS: 8.1 Communicating Effectively Responsible for answering routine enquiries on a daily basis related to the work of technical aspect of the projects. Explaining detailed procedures relating to software application on a daily basis as the point of expertise in the project team. To originate technical specifications and user instruction manuals, policies, procedures and contribute to strategic documents

8.2 Leadership and Working Collaboratively The role holder is expected to operationally line manage the Technical Support Officer. The role holder will set technical objectives to be implemented across the projects, linked to overall project objectives and will allocate and monitor the schedule of work for the Technical Support Officer. The role holder is fully accountable for the technical performance of all project software. 8.3 Liaison and Networking To provide information to stakeholders across the region, such as technical specifications and processes as a point of expertise in the project team. An active member of Health Education Northwest Technology Enhances Learning committees, Practice learning allocation working groups, and regional evaluation and training meetings. 8.4 Delivering a High Quality Standard of Service To provide a high level of customer service to all customers, including Health Education Northwest commissioners, Health Service provider stakeholders and regional Higher Education Institute project partners. To ensure that the technical service provided by the software functionality meets the regional stakeholder requirements, including Universities, Colleges of Further Education and Service Providers. 8.5 Effective Decision Making To take independent decisions on how to deal with staffing issues that may arise within the technical team of the project. To make collaborative decisions with staff within the technical team and wider regional stakeholders on changes to operational processes affecting the technical operations of the project software. To make collaborative decisions with the Project Manager and Commissioning Officer. To provide advice to the Project Manager to enable them to take a decision on resources, e.g. hardware infrastructure and software provision. To provide advice to implementation leads across the region to enable decisions to be made on how to implement the project objectives determined by the Project Manager and Regional Steering Group. 8.6 Planning and Organising Self and Others The Senior Web Developer is accountable for the planning and organising of the technical team to meet the required objectives. 8.7 Innovation and Improvement (Effective Problem Solving) To deal with all technical performance issues in line with University and Health Education Northwest procedures.

8.8 Analysis and Research Responsible for all data and monitoring required of the technical team, the role holder may not be required to undertake data entry etc but will be required to ensure it is completed and review data gathered by others. To collate information as required by the Project Manager. To extract relevant data from technical and project reports and circulate to relevant stakeholders across the region. To monitor technical expenditure. 8.9 Sensory and Physical Demands Standard for office work 8.10 Work Environment Office environment. Where concerns are raised regarding the health and safety of others, the role holder is responsible for referring these onto the Project Manager. 8.11 Pastoral Care and Welfare As a Senior Web Developer, to be a point of contact for technical staff welfare issues and to provide advice and guidance as appropriate, referring more complex problems to the Head of Acute Adult care Department (e.g. Associate Dean/ Dean). 8.12 Team Development To ensure new members of the technical team are appropriately inducted. UNIVERSITY OF CHESTER TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT FACULTY OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE FIXED TERM CONTRACT UNTIL DECEMBER 2015 BASED AT CLATTERBRIDGE &/OR WARRINGTON CAMPUS SALARY SCALE University Scale OS8, points 27 30, 28,695-31,342 per annum, payable monthly in arrears. HOURS OF WORK 36.5 hours per week Monday Thursday 8.30am 5.00pm Friday 8.30am 4.00pm (less one hour lunch break each day) A flexible approach to work will be required as there may be occasions when it would be necessary for you to work additional hours as dictated by the workload. The Faculty of Health and Social Care operates a flexi-time policy. RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT It is a requirement of this post that within 12 months of appointment, the post-holder should live within a 30 mile radius or within a one hour travelling time by public transport from the University. HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT 22 days per annum (pro-rata during the commencement and cessation years), rising to 27 days after five years' continuous service. Two extra statutory days during the Christmas period. MEDICAL EXAMINATION Successful candidates will be required to complete an Occupational Health questionnaire, and may be required to undergo a medical examination. ESSENTIAL CERTIFICATES Short-listed candidates will be asked to bring to, proof of qualifications as outlined on the Job Description and Person Specification provided. Upon appointment, copies of essential certificates will be required by HRM Services. PENSION SCHEME The University operates two pension schemes for support staff: The default scheme is the Higher Education Defined Contribution Scheme (HEDCS), which is administered by Friends Life. The Cheshire Local Government Pension Scheme, to which the University is an admitted body. All support staff are entitled to participate in one of these schemes. Some staff will be automatically enrolled into a scheme, depending on their age and earnings, but if they do not wish to remain a member of the scheme, they will be entitled to opt out after enrolment.
