Those who specialize in this field provide accounting and tax services to businesses and the general public. They can work for all types of organizations, or set up their own businesses. The profession requires good teamwork, problem-solving skills and initiative, as well as computing proficiency (spreadsheets, word processing, database and project management). Good verbal and written communication skills are crucial. Leadership qualities can be critical in providing influential advice and guiding business growth. Centennial College offers you the following options in part-time studies evenings, weekends and distance learening, for the convenience of working learners. For information on equivalencies to our Learning Partners (CGA, CIB, CSI, etc.), visit centennialcollege.ca/accounting Accounting Fundamentals (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) three levels of certificate programs take one, two or all three! All courses in these programs are eligible for CGA (Certified General Accountants) equivalency, if you achieve a 70% (B) grade or higher. Small Business Bookkeeping Eight courses in this certificate. Bookkeeping Nine courses in this certificate. Certified Bookkeeper These are the same courses as our Bookkeeping certificate; however, to qualify for Canadian Institute of Bookkeeping equivalency, you need to achieve a minimum of 65% (C+) in the courses. Certain equivalencies may be subject to CIB time limits. Canadian Securities Course New for Sept., 2007! These courses are offered in partnership with The Canadian Securities Institute. Financial Planning only four courses in this certificate! Certified Financial Planner (CFP ) These courses are offered in partnership with Advocis (The Financial Advisors Association of Canada) and CCH Canadian Ltd., the lead professional publisher of reference material in tax and financial planning in Canada. These are the same four courses required for Centennial s Financial Planning certificate; however, you must achieve a minimum of 60% (C) in each course to qualify for Advocis/CCH equivalency. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Public accountants prepare financial statements and give opinions about their reliability. The work of public accountants is referred to as adding credibility for the reliance of third parties. Because of the importance of their work in ensuring that Ontario is a secure place to do business, a licence is required to practise public accounting in Ontario. Our Becker CPA learning partner equivalent courses will ensure you have the proper foundation to write the qualification exam. (Coming soon: Public Accounting Certificate!) Accounting diploma this includes the same courses as Centennial s two-year full-time day studies program you need to take English (and an English assessment) and general education courses in addition to accounting courses. Financial Planning program code 7053 A professional financial planner determines the financial needs and objectives of clients, and uses this information to develop a personalized program of savings and investments to help clients realize their goals. Centennial College offers a in Financial Planning, as well as a partnership with Advocis and CCH Canadian Ltd, the Certified Financial Planner program. (You need to achieve a minimum 60% in each course to qualifiy for Advocis CFP equivalency.) The CFP program is specifically for individuals who wish to become qualified professional financial planners, as well as those who simply want a better understanding of the complex financial world around them, and wish to gain the knowledge that will enable them to structure their financial affairs to best suit their needs and objectives. Achieving financial security for clients is a complex process. Financial markets, taxation laws, investments and investment strategies grow even more complex.
