Class Descriptions Attending an Oregon OSHA class helps you gain important knowledge and skills. The certificate should not be considered formal Oregon OSHA certification of professional competencies or qualifications. Accident Investigation You will learn about why investigations are important; and the process for conducting an accident investigation. This how-to class builds on the basic introduction in class Safety Meetings and Committees. Ergonomics for Everyone You will learn about preventing musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace through the identification and control of risk factors. Excavation Safety You will learn about the role of the competent person ; planning considerations; specific hazards resulting from excavation work; requirements for protective systems; and Oregon OSHA s soil-classification methods. Fall Protection This class will discuss the Oregon OSHA rules for fall protection use in the construction industry and will provide specific tools to build a pro-active safety program. Falls are consistently one of the top ten injuries in Oregon and cost employers millions of dollars each year. The goal of the class is to increase personal knowledge about how to prevent falls. Forklift Safety You will learn about the OSHA rules for Powered Industrial Trucks and developing a forklift training program. This class does not offer forklift operator certification (cards). Hazard Identification and Control You will learn about the types of workplace hazards; hazard correction; developing an inspection checklist for the walkaround inspection; and writing an effective safety inspection report. This class builds on the introduction in class Safety Meetings and Committees. Hearing Conservation Program You will learn about the elements of an effective hearing conservation program; what actions can be taken to prevent hearing loss; and signs that noise could be harming hearing. Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) You will learn how to determine which jobs need a JHA; write an effective safe job procedure; and use the JHA to improve safety programs. Conducting JHAs is required for all companies intending to achieve Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) certification. Lockout/Tagout and Machine Safeguarding Lockout/Tagout You will learn about the purpose and scope of the lockout/tagout standard; lockout and tagout procedures; training criteria; and periodic inspection criteria. Machine Safeguarding You will learn about Oregon OSHA machine guarding requirements; hazardous motions and actions; guards and devices; and training guidelines. OSHA 300 Recordkeeping You will learn about reporting requirements; and how to fill out the OSHA forms; determine if an injury or illness should be recorded; and evaluate the form and recognize injury trends and root causes. Root Cause Analysis You will learn about several root cause analysis tools and their application in the accident investigation process. A walk-through of an example root cause analysis will be presented. Safety and the Supervisor You will learn about costs and benefits of taking corrective action; the five general safety supervision responsibilities outlined in OSHA rules. Through class discussion and group exercises, you learn about leadership that supports safe behaviors and conditions. Safety Leadership You will learn about the concept of leadership; leadership styles; applying effective recognition and discipline; and developing trust and credibility. Emphasis is on applying leadership to reduce or eliminate safety hazards. Safety Meetings and Committees This introductory class discusses the role and purpose for the safety meeting and/or committee; employer and employee responsibilities; and safety committee training requirements. Safety Training and Your Multicultural Workforce You will learn how to develop a safety culture with a multilingual and multicultural workforce and to overcome language and cultural barrier to form an effective training team to achieve safe work-practices. This two-part workshop reviews the requirements in OSHA rules, the Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/ Tagout), and Machinery and Machine Guarding.

Follow for 2.5 miles and take Delta Hwy exit. Go left at stop sign to Delta Hwy South, follow for about one mile to Valley River Center exit. Left on Valley River Dr and cross over Delta Hwy bridge. At signal, turn left on Willagillespie Rd. Go.1 mile to Delta Triad Building on left. Visitors MUST park in the lower lot. From the lower level, go up the stairs and turn to the right. Additional parking is available across the street in the adjacent church parking lot. KLAMATH FALLS Klamath Community College 7390 S 6th St 541-880-2253 From Hwy 97 North follow into Klamath Falls. Proceed to Hwy 39, Reno/Merrill. At the intersection of south 6th St, turn left and proceed to #7390. From Hwy 97 South follow to the Hwy 140 exit. At the stop sign, turn right. Follow the bypass until it intersects with Hwy 39. Turn left on south 6th St and proceed to #7390. MEDFORD SOU Small Business Development Center 101 S Bartlett St 541-552-8300 From South - Take Exit 27 towards OR-99S/Medford. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Barnett Rd. Turn right onto Highland Dr and then left onto E Barnett Rd Follow E Barnett to S Riverside Ave and turn right. Turn left onto E 9th St and take the first right onto S Bartlett St. From North - Take Exit 30 for OR-62W towards Klamath Falls. Keep right at the fork and follow signs for OR-238/Medford. Turn right onto OR-62W/Crater Lake Hwy. Turn left at All American Tires onto OR-99S. Take a slight left onto N Central Ave and then a left onto E 8th St. Facility is on the right. Parking - Parking lots start at $0.50/hour to a $5.00/day maximum. Middleford and Evergreen garages offer 2-3 hours free prior to paying. MILWAUKIE Clackamas Community College 7738 SE Harmony Rd 503-594-0640 From I-205 South, take Exit 14 (Sunnyside Rd) and turn right (west). Sunnyside Rd becomes Harmony Rd at 82nd Ave. From I-205 North, take Exit 13, staying to the left for 82nd Ave, and turn left at the first light (Harmony Rd). CCC is ½ block west of 82nd Ave. Turn left (south) into the lot. ONTARIO Treasure Valley Community College 650 College Blvd 541-881-8822 From I-84 take Exit 376A (from north) or Exit 376B (from south). Bear right at the fork in the off ramp and continue to the stoplight. Turn right onto East Idaho Ave and continue straight under the railroad underpass to the second stoplight, and turn left onto SW 2nd St. Travel four blocks south to the stoplight at SW 4th Ave and turn right. Continue on 4th Ave to College Blvd. From Hwy 20, travel east out of Vale for about 12 miles. At the T at Cairo Junction, turn left at the flashing light. The road then becomes Hwy 201. Continue north for about 1.5 miles. After the sharp bend east, the road becomes SW 4th. Continue on 4th Ave to College Blvd. PENDLETON Blue Mountain Community College 2411 NW Carden 541-278-5833 From I-84 take Exit 207. You will be on Westgate. Continue on highway until you pass Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution on the right. You will see a sign for Blue Mountain Community College. Turn left, go approximately 1 block. BMCC entrance is on the left. Go up the hill. At the top of hill, turn left for parking area and main campus entrance. A map of the campus is located in the gazebo entrance. ROSEBURG Umpqua Community College 1140 College Rd 541-440-7691 From I-5 take Exit 129. From the south, turn left at the stop light and then right on College Rd. From the north, turn left at the stop sign and left at the next stop sign and then right on College Rd. UCC is about one mile down. Take the first left up the hill and follow the signs to the Swimming Pool, Technology Building, and the Ford Family Center. The Technology Building is the second building on the left, next to the tennis courts. SALEM DCBS Labor & Industries Bldg. 350 Winter St NE 503-947-7443 From I-5 take Santiam Hwy (Exit 253). Go west on Mission St. Go past 17th St and onto the overpass. Get in right lane and take the Willamette University/City Center Exit. Follow signs to 12th St and State Offices. Turn left on Chemeketa, go straight through four-way stop intersection, and past the underground parking. Turn right on Winter St and the Labor & Industries Building is on the right. Limited parking is available. The Yellow lot, located north of the L&I Building, is $8.00 a day and accepts only debit/credit cards. There is also metered parking in the underground parking structure and in front of the L&I Building on the Winter St side. Metered parking is $1.50 an hour. Most on-street meters are only 2 hours and the vehicle must be moved after that time.
