SPnIJErks Connect Your Windows Mobile Phone to Spot On's Wi-Fi Network and Make a Skype Call Follow these easy steps to connect your Windows Mobile (WM) phone to Spot On's Wi-Fi and make free Skype to Skype calls. If your WM phone is registered with Spot On Networks, you can log on automatically. If your WM phone is not yet registered, call Customer Service at 877.768.6687. You will need your WM phone's MAC Address. To retrieve your MAC Address refer to the Appendix. If you do not already have a Skype account, do the following: 1. From your computer, access the Spot On website located at http://www.spotonnetworks.com/plans.php 2. Scroll down to "Voice Service Plans: Double Play - Spot On Wi-Fi and Skype" at the bottom of the page. 3. Click on the Skype link. 4. On the Skype website, download the free Skype application and create an account. 5. Make a note of your Skype Name (user name) and password. 6. If you make only Skype to Skype calls, they are free, and you are done. 7. If you are also calling non-skype cell phones or land lines purchase either Skype Credit, or the unlimited US & Canada service for $2.95 per month. 8. If you want to receive calls using Skype, subscribe to a Skype number for as little as $2.50 per month. After creating your Skype account, do the following on your Windows Mobile phone to make Wi-Fi calls through Skype: These are the keys referred to in the following instructions. 1 Turn on Wi-Fi The Home screen appears when the system is turned on. 1. Press the Left Soft Key to display the Recent Programs screen. 2. In the Recent Programs screen, navigate to Comm Manager. 3. Press ENTER to select. 4. Navigate to Wi-Fi and press the Left Soft Key to Enable. 2 Connect to the Spot On Network Wi-Fi is now enabled. 1. Choose Settings by pressing the Right Soft Key. 3. Select Wi-Fi by pressing ENTER. 2. From the Pop-up menu navigate to WLAN Settings and press ENTER. 2 of 5
4. Navigate to SpotOn using the Navigation Keys. 5. Press ENTER. You are now on the Spot On Network. 3 Download the Skype Application to the Windows Mobile Device 1. Return to the Recent Programs screen, navigate to Internet Explorer and select by pressing ENTER. 2. Select Menu by pressing the Right Soft Key and then type the web address: http://www. skype.com/m 3. On the Skype web page, select Download Now by pressing ENTER. 4. After download is complete, install Skype in Windows Mobile, and reboot. 3 of 5
4 Launch Skype on the Windows Mobile Phone 1. After the system reboots press the Left Soft Key to display the Recent Programs screen. 5 Make a Call 2. In the Recent Programs screen, navigate to Skype, and then select by pressing ENTER. 3. Enter your Skype Name. 4. Enter your Password. 5. With the onscreen pointer over the check box, press ENTER to sign in automatically on start. 1. You can make a call from your Contacts list. 2. Navigate to Contacts, press the Left Soft Key, select whom to call, and then press the Left Soft Key to place the call. 3. You can also make a call by dialing the number. 4. Navigate to Dial, enter the number and then press the Left Soft Key to place the call. 5. To complete the call, press the Left Soft Key to Hang up. 4 of 5
Appendix Logging on Automatically with your Windows Mobile Phone Retrieving your MAC Address For your WM phone to work on Spot On Networks Wi-Fi network, its MAC address must be registered to gain access to the network. Your WM phone is registered by Spot On Networks Customer Service. Before you call Customer Service (at 877.768.6687), you will need to know the MAC Address of your WM phone. Find your MAC Address and other WM phone information by following these steps: 1. The Home screen appears when the system is turned on. 2. Click the Left Soft Key to display the Recent Programs screen. 3. In the Recent Programs screen, select Comm Manager. 4. Choose Settings using the Right Soft Key. 5. From the Pop-up menu navigate to WLAN Settings by pressing ENTER. 6. Navigate to Connection Status, and then press Enter. 7. Navigate to MAC:, and then note down your MAC Address. 8. Press the Left Soft Key to select Done. You have now found your phone s MAC Address. 5 of 5
