MC GENERAL When to use? MC - modular switchgear cabinets are type-tested, factory built switchgears, designed for all sorts of low voltage power distribution, e.g.: main low voltage switchboards in transformer stations, diverse power distribution cabinets in industry, low voltage power distribution in transformer stations (for personal use), main distribution cabinets in business facilities. Basic technical features The construction of the MC switchgears is based on factory-built and standardised components and switch modules, which can be assembled into the switchgear of a desired capacity. In this way it is achieved that each configuration of the MC switchgear, which is adapted to the single project, is technically ideal and in accordance with valid regulations and standards. But such an assembling method has also some other benefits: all technical solutions used in MC switchgears are based on experiences from the field of construction, manufacture, assembly and operation in different working conditions; high operating reliability, as only standardised and type-tested elements are being used; guaranteed personnel safety during switch use in all working conditions; easy maintenance and repair without special tools; ideal space utilization on site of operation; possibility of alterations and upgrading of MC switchgears which are already in operation. 2

MC CONTRUCTION, FORM Construction MC - switchgears are designed to enable the use of simple and complex switchgear versions on one uniform supporting frame. The switchgear cabinet is divided into three compartments: busbar compartment (at the back, at the top), switch compartment with one or more doors, cable compartment which can either be in the upper or lower part or at the back. switch compartment cable compartment busbar compartment Internal separation The basic version offers the FORM 2b which can be upgraded to FORM 4b. The internal separation of the switchgear cabinet provides the following: metal partition walls which separate main busbars from other functional compartments; they provide reliable protection against direct contacts with live parts and protect the equipment from electric arcs due to short circuits on the main busbars; the separation of each functional compartment even more limits the damage in case of dangerous situations, as the electric arc cannot jump to another compartment; as a result, such kind of switchgear "survives" also critical situations without major damage of vital parts; the separation makes it possible to perform minor works in the switch compartment while the switchgear is in operation, e.g.: the connection of new or replacement of old output cables, protection devices, measuring equipment testing and modification of control circuits; as a result, the emergency shut-downs are reduced to a minimum; 4
MC CONTRUCTION, FORM To sum up, the more detailed the separation, the better the operation reliability and fewer emergency shut-downs occur. What is more, the protection and safety of the personnel is in this case the highest! MC WITCH MODULE Technical description: witch modules are divided into: outgoing modules, ingoing modules, control modules. All switch modules are to be connected directly to the main or auxiliary busbars with a screw joint. When connecting, the switchgear has to be in a voltage free state. In case of replacing switch equipment, there is no need to intervene into the busbar compartment This simplifies the procedure and is extremely time-saving. The size of the modules depends on the rated current of the installed equipment. It is always a multiple value of the basic unit E = 25 mm. In this way, compatibility and easy assembly with simple tools are guaranteed. The module can be equipped with the following: low voltage circuit breaker, protection switch, motor protecting switch with contactor. On demand, the following equipment is attached: current measuring transformers, ammeter, voltmeter, network analyzer, power energy counter, motor drives, positioning lights, 6
MC CONTRUCTION, FORM remote control kit, keys, pilot lights, switches. The metal construction frame of switch modules is identical in all versions and can be upgraded depending on the scope of equipment and internal separation. Connecting the cables In the basic version, the output switches are to be connected directly to the switchgear equipment. On request, connecting clamps may be attached. Ingoing modules are always connected via copper busbars, which are adjusted to the cable connection or to the compact busbar system connection. If the cable compartment is located at the side, the outgoing switch modules can be connected from the top, bottom or side. Larger modules are located at the bottom of the switchgear cabinet and smaller modules are located in the upper part. Ingoing switch modules can be connected at the top or bottom. 7
