GENERAL 1. GENERAL When connecting an interface converter ISK 200 to a PC an USB driver has to be installed to recognize the ISK 200. On the enclosed CD-ROM the following 2 drivers are available: VCP (Virtual COM Port) Driver (Standard): Installing this driver a new COM-Port is being defined. This one can be selected for communication with the ISK 200. If possible, always select this driver! D2XX (USB direct) driver: With this driver the ISK 200 is defined as an USB device. Communication can be realized with special defined application software. Only one of these drivers can be installed. The pictures are in German, the English ones are accordingly. 2. INSTALLATION WITH WINDOWS 2000 2.1. VCP (Virtual COM Port) driver Insert the CD-ROM into the drive. Connect the ISK 200 to a free USB-Port. Windows 2000 recognizes the ISK 200 automatically and shows the following window: After a few seconds the following window opens: 2 HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc
Select Next. The following window is displayed: Select Search for the appropriate driver for this unit (recommended). Click "Next". The following window is displayed: Select the option "CD-ROM-Drive". Click "Next". Windows 2000 searches on the CD for the VCP driver automatically. Afterwards you will get the information that the correct driver had been found: HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc 3
Click "Next". Now the following picture should indicate that installation was successfully: Click "Finish". Now the USB serial port has to be defined and the following window opens: After a few seconds the following window appears: 4 HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc
Click "Next". Refer to the next window: Select the option "Searching for the appropriate driver (recommended) ". Click "Next": HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc 5
Select the option "CD-ROM-Drive". Click "Next". Windows 2000 searches on the CD for the VCP driver automatically. Afterwards you will get the information that the correct driver had been found: Click "Next". Now the following picture should indicate that installation was successfully: Click "Finish". 2.1.1. Check the installation of the VCP Driver Please check if the installation works correct. Select in the "Start"-menu of Windows "Settings" and the sub menu "System control". Double click the icon "System". Das Fenster "Systemeigenschaften" wird geöffnet. Select "Hardware" and click the icon "Device Manager". The window "Device Manager" opens: Here with "Connections (COM and LPT)" and "USB-Controller" the insertions indicated in the picture have to be available. 2.1.2. Deinstall VCP Driver To deinstall the VCP driver proceed as following. Select Settings in the "Start"-menu of Windows and afterwards the submenu "System Control". Click on "Program change or remove". Select the installed program "Gantner ISK 200 (VCP Driver) from the list and click the remove button. The following window opens: Disconnect the USB cable from the PC. Click "Continue". The following window opens: Click on "Finish". 8 HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc
2.2. D2XX (USB direct) driver Insert the CD-ROM into the drive. Connect the ISK 200 to a free USB port. Windows 2000 recognizes the ISK 200 automatically and shows the following window: After a few seconds the following window opens: Click "Next". Select the option "Search for an appropriate driver for the device (recommended)". Click "Next": HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc 9
Select the option "Select another source". Click "Next": Click "Search": Select the directory "D2XX Treiber" on the CD and select the file "ftd2xx.inf". Click on "Open". The following window opens: 10 HB_ISK200_E_V10.doc

2.2.1. Check the installation of the D2XX driver Please check if the installation works correct. Select Settings from the Start"-menu of Windows and the submenu "System Control". Double click the icon "System". The window "System Characteristics" opens. Select "Hardware" and click the icon "Device Manager". The window "Device Manager" opens: Here the "USB-Controller" as marked in the picture has to be available. 2.2.2. Deinstall the D2XX driver To deinstall the VCP driver proceed as following. Windows XP recognizes the ISK 200 automatically and shows the following window: Select option "Install software from a list or a certain source (for advanced users)". Click "Next". The following window opens: Select the option "Search the source for the best possible driver". Select the option "Search the following source as well". Click "Search".
