How your fundraising makes a difference South Warwickshire Foundation Trust provides a spectrum of NHS health services fundraising helps to finance some services, equipment and enhancements that would not normally be expected in an NHS hospital. The money you raise is directly fed into these services and you can opt to dedicate your fundraising to one Ward/department in particular, one of the hospital sites or to the general Charity fund for the Trust to distribute as required. Here s how previous fundraising has made a difference: Items Donated in January 2012 a local group donated new books, toys and puzzles for the Children s Ward at Warwick Hospital. 500 Donated in June 2012 to the MacGregor Children s Ward assisted in making the ward a more welcoming environment. 1,200 Warwick Hospital s Helen Clarke Suite received a generous donation from Stratford W.I. Lite towards purchasing additional equipment and resources for the suite. 2,000 Donated by the Oak pub in Warwick in February 2012 and purchased additional equipment for the Special Care Baby Unit 2,600 Donated by Napton Golf Society for the Cardiology department at Warwick hospital, providing a courtyard garden for patients and DVD players for Cardiac Rehabilitation education. 6,000 Donated in May 2012 for the purchase of a specialist piece of equipment called an Air Dermatome. This groundbreaking piece of equipment is used to take skin grafts from the body in order to cover over the location where skin cancers have been removed. 19,000 Donated in January 2012 for the purchase of an ECG Machine, two specialised chairs and a bladder scanner for Guy Ward. Support your local hospital or a specific ward If you want to organise your event for a specific Ward or Department we will designate the money accordingly and work with staff on the Ward to use it to support of their patients. Unfortunately, not all our Wards receive the same level of support. So if you do not have a preference, we would be most grateful if you organise your event in support of the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Fund. This enables us to support patients we may not otherwise be able to.
How to get started Fundraising is as easy as 1-2-3 with a little organisation: 1 Planning What activity would draw the most support? Be creative think of something fun and entertaining that draws people together. See the end of this pack for suggestions. Think about when to hold it? A time that would draw the most attention and that allows you enough time to fully plan is vital. Venue and equipment - think about a suitable place to hold the activity and any equipment you may need. Book early and don t be afraid to ask for a charity discount/rate! 2 Spread the word A well planned fun event is meaningless without participants or an audience use your immediate group of friends and family to spread the word. Think about what social media you could use. Are you on facebook or twitter? Set up a special group and send it out to all your contacts and ask them to forward it on as well. Use the poster templates found at the end of this pack to publicise the event locally. Contact us here at the Trust! We may be able to let our 4,000 members of staff know about it, publicise your event on our website and utilise our Trust membership of over 5000 members of the public. We can also provide advice on contacting the wider media if relevant. 3 Making money Keep expenses to a minimum and as a rule aim to make three times in profit what you spend in set up costs. Use Gift Aid it s free money! Gift Aid is a great way to make every sponsor s donation worth 25 per cent more and it won t cost you a penny.
