Venue information: Getting to Venice: Arrival in Venice by Flights into the Marco Polo Airport (http://veniceairport.it) are frequent from major cities around Europe. Boat and bus shuttles leave regularly for Venice from the airport. It is possible to take a water taxi from the airport directly to your hotel, but it is very expensive. ACTV (orange bus line) # 5 runs every 10 and 40 minutes past the hour from the airport to Piazzale Roma in Venice and vice versa. Tickets cost 1.50 Euro one-way. More information can be found at http://www.actv.it. Alilaguna boat shuttle (http://alilaguna.it) runs every hour from the airport to Venice. Tickets cost 10 Euro. Trains into the Venice S.Lucia station arrive in Venice proper (http://www.fs-on-line.com/). Information about Venice and Venice logistics is plentiful online, including the Lonely Planet guide (http://www.lonelyplanet.com) or the official tourism site (http://www.turismovenezia.it). How to get around Venice There are only two ways you can get around Venice by walking or taking a vaporetto (water boat) (http://www.actv.it). One-way ticket costs 3.50 Euro. There are 3-day tickets available for 22.00 Euro. Finding CNR-ISMAR Walking: Best thing to do is to find the Rialto Bridge and proceed by foot along the Grand Canal (Fondamenta del Vin). Follow it until you have to turn right, which will lead you into Campo San Silvestro, cross the square and take the street that leads into Campo Sant Aponal. Once in the square there are three streets on your left take the one in the middle (Calle di Mezo), which leads into Campiello dei Meloni. Walk ahead until you see the florist, Biancat, on your right, directly in front to your left is the street Calle della Malvasia at the end of it there is the large iron gate of Palazzo Papadopoli where CNR is located. In case you don t follow the street along the canal, go straight down from the Rialto Bridge along the Ruga d. Orefici passing the vendor booths until you reach the wider Ruga Vecchia S. Giovanni (to the locals Ruga Rialto!), turn left and keep walking until Campo Sant Aponal and continue with the direction above. Vaporetto: Take line no. 1 to the San Silvestro Boat Stop and follow the street under the sottoportico, make a left and then a right and you will be on the street leading into Campo Sant Aponal. From this point follow the walking directions.
