CCEI Online Texas Director s Certificate Program Syllabus The CCEI Online Texas Director s Certificate is designed to provide professional recognition for early childhood professionals in Texas seeking to further their skills and knowledge in the management of a child care center. Comprehensive online courses, eligible for Continuing Education Units (CEU), available anytime, are designed to address the practical skills required to manage the day-to-day operation of a child care center. New directors, seasoned professionals, and those aspiring to become a management team member will benefit from courses that provide insight into the practical application of the daily responsibilities of a child care director. The program is broken into ten instruction modules including: Child Care Rules and Regulations, Communication/Interpersonal Skills, Parent Education, Program and Business Management/Legal Knowledge, Professional Development, Accessing Services and Community Resources, Finances and Fiscal Management, Child Development, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, and Anti-Bias Program Development. These courses are designed to address the core areas of competency required to manage a child care center. Enrollment Requirements for the Texas Director s Certificate Program include: 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years in a licensed child care setting 21 years of age or older Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, GED Sign a statement of ethical conduct Documented proof of a current certified CPR and First Aid Certificate Letter of recommendation from an Early Childhood Professional regarding competence with young children Have immediate access to a computer with word processing software, internet access, printer, and personal e-mail account *It is the responsibility of the student to ensure this program meets with state and national licensing requirements. The CCEI Online Texas Director s Certificate Program is designed to provide 60 hours of professional development for students in management positions in child care centers.
