Child Development Degree & Certificate Options You can earn college credit with any of our certificates or skills achievement awards in Child Development. We also offer an associate degree that can be transferred to a four-year university. In addition, DCCCD offers several teacher preparation degrees that can be transferred to a four-year university s College of Education. Courses in Child Development are useful for anyone who works with or has close association with young children, including teachers, family day-home providers, Head Start staff, parents and others. Our experienced faculty members present the variety of content, theory and practical knowledge that you need to build a professional foundation for working with young children. We offer a variety of classes during the day, in the evenings and on weekends, as well as through distance learning through Internet and television classes. We also teach classes off-campus to accommodate working professionals. You re sure to receive the individual attention you need thanks to our small class sizes. More Information Page 18 CHILD DEVELOPMENT COURSES FOR COLLEGE CREDIT presented in partnership by Brookhaven College and Eastfield College The Dallas County Community College District is pleased to partner with Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas to provide education and training to child care-providers working in Dallas County. Funds for this initiative are made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, ARRA, Child Care Block Grant. The purpose of this initiative is to provide comprehensive child care training to enhance the qualifications and skills of child care providers through a collaborative project involving Brookhaven College, Cedar Valley College and Eastfield College. These community colleges will develop and deliver a series of courses addressing the core knowledge and skill areas for both administrators and staff as defined by the Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers and the NAEYC Accreditation standards. ELIGIBILITY In order to be eligible, you must live and work in child care in Dallas County. You must apply and be admitted to the DCCCD prior to the first day of class. You are strongly encouraged to be assessed for Texas Success Initiatve fulfillment. New students may apply for admission online, however, registration must be accomplished in person with an academic or faculty advisor. COST: FREE! Students will be observed and assessed at their worksite implementing CDA Credential standards. Students will complete their resource file and practice interviews and assessment.
