Palmer, Massachusetts 2014 Sewer Replacement Project Public Meeting January 27, 2014 TIghe&Bond 10 1 Background Poor Pipe Condition Closed circuit television inspection showed that pipe replacement due to disrepair is required for 23,000 linear feet of sewer in five distinct locations in town: - Brainerd Street Area (Depot Village) - Riverview Parkway Area (Deport Village) - Chudy Street Area (Three Rivers) - South High Street Area (Bondsville) - High Street (Thorndike) Blocked Sewers The current condition of the sewer pipes has lead to blockages and back-ups. dims Project Objectives Replace Sewer Pipe Replace sanitary sewer system in the five distinct locations of town Replace Deficient VC (Vitrified Clay) sewer pipe Currently undersized and impacted during wet weather events Health and Environment Improvements Currently back-ups as well as leakages may lead to public health and environmental nutrient issues. Water Quality Improvements The new sewer line will prevent leakages and back-ups that could compromise the nearby public groundwater supply.
