It is a year of forgiveness of sins and also the punishment due to sin, it is a year of reconciliation between adversaries, of conversion and receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and consequently of solidarity, hope, justice, commitment to serve God with joy and in peace with our brothers and sisters. A Jubilee year is above all the year of Christ, who brings life and grace to humanity.

R St Anthony Women's Guild presents Deacon Pius Gabriel and his update on the home for children run by the Brothers of the Poor. Deacon Pius began this home after the destructive tsunami hit Sri Lanka in 2004. The Guild's meeting will begin after the noon Mass on Monday, Feb. 8th., in the Parish Hall. Please remember to bring your lunch; dessert will be provided by the hostesses for Feb. If you are a woman, but not a member of the Guild, why not join us and see what our Guild does for our Parish, school and community. Hope to see you on Feb. 8th and be prepared for a heart warming presentation by our own Deacon Pius. Food Pantry Very Low on Food Our food pantry enables us to give much needed food to low income families in our area. We use the following food items each week: Breakfast Cereal, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Saltine Crackers, Pasta, Tuna, Macaroni and Cheese, and canned Fruit & Meat. You may place non perishable food items in the baskets in the back of church on week ends or drop them off at the parish office week days between the hours of 9am 4pm. Thank you for helping to stock our pantry to feed those in need in our community. Parish News Lenten Schedule Ash Wednesday is February 10th a day of fast and abstinence Mass with distribution of Ashes 9am, 12 Noon Masses in English 6:30pm bi-lingual Mass Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. Fasting is observed by all Catholics 18 to 59 years of age. On a fast day one full meal is allowed. Two other meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken to each one s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids, including milk and juices, are allowed. Abstinence is observed by all 14 years of age and older. On days of abstinence no meat is allowed. Note that when health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not require adherence. When in doubt concerning fast and abstinence, consult the pastor. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for Baptism or renewal of Baptism at Easter. Lenten Parish Mission by Fr. Herald J. Why we need Mercy our Lenten Penance service will take place on Tuesday evening with many priests available for private confessions Our Call to be Merciful The Mission will conclude with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass Pope Francis proclaimed this year an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy.
