METROTILE ROOFING SYSTEM METROTILE SHINGLE

Metrotile Shingle: The low profile of the Metrotile Shingle with its matching ridging system is unique to Metrotile. No other metal tile in the New Zealand market matches the flat elegance of this authentic shingle. Metrotile Shingles are available in a range of textured earthy colours. THE EVOLUTION OF ROOFING FROM NEW ZEALAND S MOST EXPERIENCED ROOFING MANUFACTURER. Metrotile brings a wealth of experience to the manufacture of high performance metal roofing products. From humble beginnings, making concrete building blocks and concrete roof tiles by hand in 1942, to being a major international producer of metal roof tiles. Over 70 years experience in roofing products and the building industry has resulted in the research and development of Metrotile s metal tile product range. With experience gained under the Ross banner, manufacturing and installing concrete tiles, the company became the first agent in NZ for LJ Fisher metal tiles, roll formers of longrun roofing in the USA, before opening Metrotile manufacturing plants in New Zealand, Europe and the USA. From urban to country living the Metrotile Shingle adds style to your architecture. The Metrotile Shingle Textured finish can also withstand the rigors of coastal environments and harsh weather conditions. Metrotile metal tiles are tested and accepted as a premium roofing product for use in extreme conditions in over 80 countries, with over 20 years experience, and independently and internationally recognised test results to prove it. Since the early days of stone-coated steel many roofing styles have evolved and now through Metrotile Roofing Systems you can chose a profile that best suits the architecture of your home.

Metrotile Shingle: This Colonial style home was re-roofed in Metrotile Shingle after the previous roof was destroyed by fire. The Shingle s low profile and textured finish is ideally suited to the style of the home and the environment. Another benefit for rural locations is that water can be safely collected from all Metrotile roofs. METROTILE: A FAMILY BUSINESS WHERE YOUR PROJECT AND OUR REPUTATION MATTERS. WHY CHOOSE A METROTILE ROOF? A Metrotile roof offers many benefits but none are more important than how you are treated as a customer. To us, each customer is important and we recognise that the home you are building is very special to you. As a family owned business, we offer personal and accountable service to ensure that you get the roof and service you deserve, via one of our accredited Distributor customers. WHICH METROTILE ROOF IS RIGHT FOR YOU? Metrotile offers a range of 7 profiles in a range of finishes and colours to complement the design and colour preference of your project. The following pages offer a glimpse at the profiles offered, and show some of the colours available for each. A Metrotile roof is quieter than a longrun metal roof because it is made up of individual tile modules that do not transmit the sound. Some enjoy the sound of rain on the roof while others prefer a quieter environment. Our Textured coating offers more sound reduction than our Satin coating.

Metrotile Shake: Available in Textured and Satin finishes the Metrotile Shake has the rustic wood-grain appearance of traditional shakes with a deep-ribbed profile designed to provide strength, enhance shadow lines and create visual contrast. The Metrotile Shake is the strongest metal tile profile available in New Zealand and offers significant foot traffic strength. METROTILE OFFERS A WARRANTY YOU CAN RELY ON AND TRUST. All metal roofing manufacturers produce product suitable for use in severe marine environments. New Zealand s two pre-painted steel manufacturers produce a range of premium products that they specify for use in coastal locations. Metrotile s acrylic coating technology, pitched roofs and modular tile system allow it to offer its standard Satin and Textured Warranties in severe marine environments. As a consequence, Metrotile products and their Satin and Textured Weather Proof Warranties offer significant cost advantages over many pre-painted products when used on the coast. Many families in New Zealand prefer the low maintenance mainstream look of painted metal. However Metrotile Textured Tiles offer the following advantages over painted steel products; Metrotile Shake: The aesthetic qualities of the Metrotile Shake coupled with its strength and durability, has made it the first choice for building companies and architects alike. s Metrotile Textured Tiles provide a natural low glare finish s There are no fading or chalking issues with Metrotile Textured Tiles s Metrotile Textured Tiles are easily and cost effectively maintained with that newly installed look s Metrotile Textured Tiles produce less rain noise

Metrotile Shake: As with all Metrotile roofs the lightweight benefits of steel roofing can offer considerable cost savings, while adding to the integrity of a building s structure. METROTILE PUTS YOUR FAMILY S SAFETY FIRST There are two primary forces to contend with in roofing, weight and the forces of nature. Of all the roofing materials available steel is undoubtedly the strongest and yet is rated by the NZ Building code as a lightweight roofing material. In fact a Metrotile roof is approximately seven times lighter than an equivalent concrete or clay tile roof. This alone can result in considerable structural cost savings. We do not support the myth that a steel roof is always safer. It simply means a heavier roof requires more structural support to meet the safety regulations of the NZ Building Code. Because each metal tile is fixed by horizontal fastenings into battens each individual tile is very secure. This gives integrity to the entire roof and prevents wind uplift issues. In high winds, some vertically fastened roofs, have literally been Lifted Off the frame by wind uplift pressure. Of equal importance, with a Metrotile roof, is the attention given to the fixing of roof battens to the rafters. A Metrotile roof is engineered for Very High Wind Zones (VHWZ), in coastal regions of New Zealand, and is proven around the world, to withstand extreme wind conditions.

Metrotile Roman: The distinct profile of the Mediterranean is reflected in the Metrotile Roman Tile. The owner of this French provincial style home did considerable research to find that the Metrotile Roman Tile was the most authentic design that offered all the benefits of lightweight durability. WITH METROTILE YOU CAN BE ASSURED YOUR ROOFING COMPLIES WITH THE NEW ZEALAND BUILDING CODE AND THE MRM CODE OF PRACTICE. We are fortunate in New Zealand to have one of the highest specified Building Codes in the world which avoids many of the quality issues experienced in some countries. Often much of what is shown as structural failure or climatic destruction is largely due to poorly designed or constructed buildings You can never be certain that any building will withstand extreme natural disasters but you can be sure that a Metrotile roof will withstand the extremes better than most, and we have 70 years of roofing experience to prove it. Metrotile is also an active member of the New Zealand Metal Roofing Manufacturers Inc, which is the national association representing most of the companies, who make metal roll-formed and metal tile products in New Zealand. Metal roofs constitute over 95% of all Commercial roofs in New Zealand, and nearly 80% of all Residential roofs. The NZMRM has published the Code of Practice, which is the primary guidance document for the design and installation of all metal roofs in New Zealand. Metrotile is also an active supporter of the Roofing Association of New Zealand and sponsors an annual Awards Program that recognises Professionalism in the installation of Metal Tiles. Sponsored by Metrotile (NZ) Ltd in association with the Roofing Association of New Zealand

Metrotile Bond: Replicates the traditional look of a concrete tile and is the original profile produced by Metrotile. The Bond profile is equally at home on both large estate homes and town houses. METROTILE DESIGNED, RESEARCHED, TESTED AND PROVEN Metrotile Classic: The pressed ribs on the traditional Classic profile make for a strong and robust tile that is popular with many building companies. We have learnt, from the mistakes of others, of the need to be very thorough in the testing of profiles, paints and resins prior to manufacture. Small tolerances in design performance can make a big difference to the success and weather tightness of a product. Be sure that you choose a proven Company with a thorough track record in research and performance. This is one of the unrivaled benefits that 70 years in manufacturing a wide range of roofing products provides. Metrotile profiles have been tested and proven in New Zealand and overseas by independent research facilities in numerous countries. From the most severe temperatures to hurricane force winds, fire, snow, torrential rains and more, Metrotile has seen it all. SUSTAINABLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS. Metrotile is committed to being an environmentally responsible manufacturer. All of our products are produced from the world s most recycled building material - steel. It is also standard practice that all off cuts and disused materials are collected on site and recycled, which leaves a clean and safe working environment for builders and home owners alike.

Metrotile Royal: The new Metrotile Royal Tile closely replicates the attractive low profile look of Asphalt Shingles with all the benefits of steel. METROTILE BRINGS TWO NEW PROFILES TO THE NEW ZEALAND HOME OWNER Metrotile Tudor: The new Metrotile Tudor Tile is an attractive and robust profile that replicates the look of a traditional concrete tile. Right: This picture is a computer rendition of the Metrotile Royal Tile which, along with the Metrotile Tudor Tile, was launched in February 2012. METROTILE PROVIDES THE VERY BEST PROTECTION FOR NEW ZEALAND CONDITIONS ACRYLIC OVERGLAZE NATURAL STONE CHIP ACRYLIC BASE COAT PRIMER ZINCALUME BASE STEEL ZINCALUME PRIMER WHY ZINCALUME New Zealand Steel Limited introduced ZINCALUME to the New Zealand market in 1994. ZINCALUME combines the corrosion protection of aluminium with the sacrificial protection of zinc, giving it the advantage of both metals. As a result ZINCALUME has a significantly longer service life than a galvanised steel product using only zinc. This is of particular value in New Zealand where the prevailing winds carry corrosive salt laden air many kilometres inland.

RE-ROOFING WITH METROTILE ADDS AESTHETICS TO YOUR HOME AND YEARS OF LIFE TO YOUR ROOF MOSSBOSS AND METROGARD CAN ADD YEARS OF LIFE TO YOUR ROOF Original concrete roof Metrogard restoration Above: The flat profile of the Metrotile Shingle compliments the design of this house, which had to be re-roofed, following the failure of the original Hardie s Shingle product. Above: This longrun roof was reclad in Metrotile Shingles as part of a complete make over of the original structure. Below: The Hardie Shingles showing deterioration and failure prior to re-roofing. MOSSBOSS METROGARD Left: This asphalt shingle roof failed after just seven years. It was reclad using Metrotile Shingle over the existing roof structure. There was no need to remove the original bituminous shingles that were attached to a plywood base. In most circumstances, for your warranty to be valid, all organic growth such as moss, mould, algae and lichen should be cleaned every 3 years to prevent damage to your roof s protective coating, using a roof cleaning material that is suitable for your type of roof. Metrotile Roofing Systems recommend the use of MossBoss to clean your roof. MossBoss is a powerful, fast-acting solution for removing algae and lichen from roofs. Simply spray it on and let nature do the rest. MossBoss is not only simple and effective, it s also bleach free and biodegradable. Metrotile offers home owners the option of restoring their existing roof at around 35% of the cost of a new roof. While many roofs look OK, there can be a multitude of hidden issues as a roof begins to fail. These can include the build up of dirt and organic matter in water courses, water retention, dampness, leaks and excess weight. When the surface coating on the roof begins to break down because of age, or inconsistent cleaning, problems that are difficult to trace invariably increase. A restored roof looks good, improves the efficiency of the roof drainage and extends the life of your roof.

Colour Choice: Before choosing the colour of your roof ask your Metrotile Distributor for a colour chart, sample swatch or sample tile. The colours shown in this Metrotile booklet are as close as the standard printing process will allow and is used to show the available colour range only.
