Introduction The University of Windsor IT Services Department is committed to recognizing the dedication, perseverance and contributions of its staff and colleagues across campus The IT Services Department has established an Awards Program to provide a formal process for acknowledging outstanding achievements by staff members of IT Services and other University units in support of the Department s, and ultimately the University s, mission and vision. This program is intended to complement informal recognition and general appreciation of employee contributions to the University and the wider campus community in making the institution the best place to work and learn. This Program offers four award categories that focus on the importance of service, innovation, teamwork, leadership, collegiality and stakeholder engagement. Responsibility for administering this Program is held by the IT Services Awards Committee, which consists of representatives from various areas within the Department. The Committee will accomplish this mandate of recognizing individuals and teams with outstanding IT related achievements through its defined nomination and selection process. It will be the intent of the Committee to complete its identified process each year with award recipients to be honoured at a formal ceremony during the University s Campus Technology Day. Page 2

Overview of Awards IT Services Achievement Award Individual IT Services Achievement Award Team To recognize superior performance by an IT Services staff member on a project, process, or initiative that significantly advances the strategic objectives of the department and / or provides outstanding IT services in support of the University To recognize superior performance by a team of two or more IT Services members who collaborate on a project, process, or initiative that significantly advances the objectives of the department and / or who work together to provide outstanding IT services in support of the University The individual must have met at least two of the following criteria in order to be eligible for this Championed or implemented significant changes, modifications, or approaches that measurably improved work productivity, efficiency, and quality Went above and beyond to provide exceptional service to students / faculty / staff Took the initiative to resolve/coordinate solution of a difficult technical issue with a profound / widespread impact Delivered IT solutions / accomplishments that had a measurable positive impact at a departmental and /or institutional level Developed an innovative / IT related process or procedure that enhanced the student experience or impacted the University/community in a positive manner Candidate must be an IT Services staff member The team must have met at least two of the following criteria in order to be eligible for this Championed or implemented significant changes, modifications, or approaches that measurably improved work productivity, efficiency, and quality Went above and beyond to provide exceptional service to students / faculty / staff Worked cohesively to resolve a difficult technical / IT related issue with a profound / widespread impact Delivered IT solutions / accomplishments that had a measurable positive impact at a departmental and / or institutional level Developed an innovative / IT related process or procedure that enhanced the student experience or impacted the University/community in a positive manner Worked collaborative with others and demonstrated respect, openness and teamwork Teams of two or more IT Services staff members Page 3

Overview of Awards Collegiality Award Friend of IT Services Award To recognize an IT Services staff member who strives to create a positive, collaborative work environment and who promotes unity and fosters respect within the department To recognize a University faculty / staff member or team outside of IT Services who has been a champion or key contributor to the success of an IT related project / initiative or has assisted with the advancement of IT Services strategic objectives The individual must have met at least two of the following criteria in order to be eligible for this Consistently demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication, perseverance and excellence in the face of challenge Regularly inspired others with a positive attitude Demonstrated patience and a willingness to help and support others Performed acts of kindness that contributed to the general well-being of IT Services Created opportunities for groups to come together to work towards achieving a common goal. The individual or team must have met at least two of the following criteria in order to be eligible for this Made an impact on the success of an IT Services project / initiative or strategic objective by promoting and actively encouraging adoption of the product or service Demonstrated leadership in the use of an IT service or product Worked collaboratively with ITS in implementing, developing, piloting or testing an IT service or product and demonstrated respect, openness and teamwork Engaged or mobilized others and/or served as a role model in the individual s department or the general university community by sharing information or mentoring others in support of IT initiatives Candidate must be an IT Services staff member Any team or faculty / staff member (full-time, parttime, or student employee) who is not a member of the IT Services Department. A team can consist of two or more faculty / staff members outside of the IT Services Department. The candidate must be nominated by an IT member Page 4

Overview of Nomination and Selection Process Nomination Process Selection Process The call for nominations will be communicated annually through University IT Services via e-mail, departmental website or staff meetings Eligible staff members may be nominated in accordance with the criteria as specified for respective Awards. An individual may be nominated for more than one (1) award. It is the responsibility of the nominating party to: o Complete the appropriate nomination form as is required. The nomination forms can be accessed at http://www.uwindsor.ca/its/award s o The deadline for nominations will be February 27 of each calendar year. All completed nomination forms shall be submitted via the IT Services Awards website at http://www.uwindsor.ca/its/nomi nation All nominees will receive notification of their nomination All nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Committee. During the review process, all nominee names will be withheld and not disclosed to the Awards Committee. Should a member of the Awards Committee be nominated for an Award, that member will abstain from participating in the review process for the given Award to avoid any potential conflict of interest Should a member of the Awards Committee nominate an individual / team for an Award, that member will abstain from participating in the review process for the given Award to avoid any potential conflict of interest The Awards Committee may contact the nominating party for any clarification and / or additional information that may be required as part of the review process The Awards Committee reserves the right to determine eligibility of all nominations The Awards Committee will make recommendations for all Awards to the Executive Director, IT Services based on the criteria established In the event that the committee cannot carry out their duties due to a conflict of interest a temporary committee will be established Page 5
