MISSION Thank you for your interest in Corpus Christi Catholic College. I hope that as you read through this prospectus, you will find we have a great deal to offer, and you will want Corpus Christi to play a key role in the education and personal development of your child. We are a Catholic College where each and every child is loved and valued in having a divine origin and an eternal destiny. Gospel values and the teachings of the Catholic Church underpin all aspects of College life and we place Christ at the centre of all that we do. We seek to challenge and support our students as they grow into adulthood, knowing it is important for them to do their best, care for those around them and bear witness to Christ in the modern world. Corpus Christi continues to retain the traditional values for which we have gained a strong reputation in the local area: a strong Christian ethos, a broad and varied curriculum, excellent teaching, high expectations and outstanding pastoral care. We are aspirational for all our young people and strive to meet the needs of every child, irrespective of their ability, to ensure they maximise their potential both in and outside of the classroom. Our students are our finest ambassadors: hardworking, friendly, fun to be with and genuinely pleasant and polite young people. We are proud of their many achievements and believe this success is based on the strong partnership between school and home. We are committed to serving our local community, and supporting our partner primary schools and local parishes. We work in close collaboration with other schools, colleges and the wider community for our mutual good. As a Catholic College, we are conscious of the need to create opportunities for reflection, prayer and worship. Each day begins with prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist is central to the life of the College. We put our mission into practice every day in the way we treat others Together we Work, Learn, Pray, Grow and live out our Mission. I am extremely proud to be Headteacher of Corpus Christi Catholic College. Our College community is friendly and inviting, and you will be met with courtesy and politeness from students and staff alike. We welcome applications from people of all faiths who wish to benefit from, and are able to support, our Catholic ethos. Steve Mort Headteacher

STUDENTS SAY THEY FEEL SAFE AND TEACHERS GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO HELP THEM. WORK Effective pastoral care provides all students with the opportunity to achieve, attain and thrive in an atmosphere that actively encourages respect of self, each other and our environment. The College fully acknowledges the vital role of parents and carers in ensuring that our young people develop secure personal and social values, which will guide the decisions they make in the future. Together, we can help our children to become happy and rounded individuals, by attending to their social and emotional development, as well as their intellectual growth. Our students are encouraged to contribute to the development of school policy and practice. This is achieved through our school council, chaplaincy group and student voice. We have the highest expectations of our students, both in terms of their appearance, attitude to learning and behaviour. Students are rewarded where they show respect for others and contribute to the Catholic ethos of the College. Our behaviour for learning policy endorses this positive approach, encouraging achievement, as well as tolerance and social responsibility. STUDENTS ARE REFLECTIVE AND HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF MORAL AND SOCIAL ISSUES. The school environment is calm and orderly, a place where students feel safe and secure, which we regard as a prerequisite for effective student engagement and good progress.

At our College, we aim to develop the learning of the whole child, creating opportunities for students to grow and achieve through engagement and challenge. We encourage our students to be independent and creative thinkers, participating effectively through teamwork and self-management, and developing the skills to analyse and reflect. At the core of our curriculum planning is a personalised, flexible and inclusive learning programme. Literacy and numeracy are key priorities, and there is the opportunity to access accelerated learning strategies, where required, at both Key Stages 3 and 4. Our 21st-century learning environment, which includes state-of-theart ICT facilities, allows our priorities to be embedded across the curriculum. Our Virtual Learning Environment provides access to resources the students need to challenge expectations and extend their knowledge. At Key Stage 3, we offer a broad, balanced and motivating curriculum, which includes: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages, History, Geography, ICT, Music, Drama, Art & Design, Physical Education and Design & Technology. Towards the end of Key Stage 3, students are guided to make option choices about their future learning, enabling smooth transition to the academic rigours of Key Stage 4. In Key Stage 4, learning pathways are tailored to personalise each student s education. Subject choices enable students to achieve the English Baccalaureate, vocational options or the pre-apprenticeship route, which includes a college placement. Our mission statement asks students to work to become the best that they can be. We know that high quality teaching is vital to ensure student progress. Strategic planning, innovative teaching methods and sensitive, but honest, assessment enable our students to achieve their academic potential. LEARN STUDENTS ARE TOLERANT OF OTHER FAITHS AND RELIGIONS AND THIS CONTRIBUTES WELL TO THEIR EXCELLENT SPIRITUAL, MORAL, SOCIAL AND CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT.

CORPUS CHRISTI IS A VERY GOOD, EFFECTIVE AND IMPROVING CATHOLIC COLLEGE. THE CATHOLIC LIFE AND RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IS OUTSTANDING. SECTION 48 PRAY Catholic values and our mission Together we Work, Learn, Pray, Grow are at the heart of all that we do at Corpus Christi. We seek to create a caring, supportive and reflective Christian environment and a positive culture that enables students to develop their many God-given gifts and talents. We live out Gospel values through actions and we strive to build a harmonious community where students feel valued, understand what is expected of them and behave with respect towards others. Spirituality is central to our community, and the very proactive student and staff chaplaincy teams maintain and further develop our Catholic ethos. We offer a full retreat programme for all students and staff, including residential retreats at Myddelton Grange in Ilkley, The Briars in Derbyshire and Ampleforth Abbey near York. A source of pride and a fundamental part of College life is our students generosity, support and care towards the wider community. There are many fundraising activities for charities such as Catholic Care, HCPT, CAFOD and our partner school in Tanzania. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the annual Lourdes pilgrimage, and former students and staff are fully committed to visiting and teaching in our Tanzanian partner school. Corpus Christi is a college at the heart of our community. We work very closely and collaboratively with our partner primary schools to ensure a smooth transition to our College. We have excellent partnerships with Notre Dame Sixth Form College and Leeds Trinity University, for whom we are a school-based centre for teacher training. THE MISSION STATEMENT TOGETHER WE WORK, LEARN, PRAY, GROW REFLECTS THE VISION AND COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE A FULLY INCLUSIVE LEARNING COMMUNITY WITH A STRONG CATHOLIC ETHOS. SECTION 48

GROW Corpus Christi has a comprehensive extra-curricular programme, full of opportunities that allow our students to thrive, encouraging the growth of selfconfidence and self-esteem. Students develop skills and talents through teambuilding and healthy competition. Our sporting tradition is a source of immense pride. We excel in many sports, including achievement at local, regional and national levels, catering for both girls and boys, in a range of pursuits and activities. The College s new and extensive sporting facilities will enable us to enjoy even greater success in the future. Our flourishing Performing Arts Department engages all year groups in a diverse range of Dance, Music and Drama activities. Performances are embedded in school life throughout the year, with students showcasing their talents both at College and in the local community. College life is further enhanced with an extensive programme of educational visits. These allow for substantial learning outside the classroom, as well as cultural, historic and religious experiences, adventure and challenge. Visits are inclusive, and support the development of community, socialising and independence. STUDENTS ARE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL OF STAFF AND EACH OTHER. STUDENTS ARE KEEN TO TAKE ON RESPONSIBILITIES AND RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY. THEY HAVE GOOD OPPORTUNITIES TO GIVE THEIR OPINIONS AND PARTICIPATE IN DECISION MAKING.
