He surrendered to God's call to the ministry in December of 1975. The Seminole Heights Baptist Church of Tampa, Florida, licensed Dr. Briant to Preach in September of 1977 and ordained him to the Gospel Ministry January 15, 1978. CHURCHES Dr. Briant has served growing churches in Florida, Oklahoma, and Oregon and is presently serving as pastor of the Southside Baptist Church in Sarasota, Florida. Southside Baptist Church Sarasota, Florida Dr. Briant became Pastor of Southside in May of 1991. During this time, much has been accomplished for our Lord. Membership has grown to more than 1500 2200 people have made public decisions for Christ with more than 1300 being baptized (baptized 101 during the 1995-96 church year and 103 during the 1996-97 year) New Church policies have been adopted A $650,000.00 renovation project has been completed: A new dining facility seating 160 people Complete renovation of the worship center A new suite of offices and new office equipment Complete renovation of 28,000 square feet of space The church is now debt free 35 Deacons and 10 Ministers have been ordained 10 men have been licensed to the Gospel Ministry Spanish Mission has been organized into an autonomous church (January 1993) A second Spanish congregation has been organized into an autonomous church (January 2002) Recognized six times by Southern Seminary as being in the top ½ of 1% of churches in the Southern Baptist Convention in Evangelistic Effectiveness Recognized by the Florida Baptist Convention as being in the top five churches in Florida in Sunday School Study Course Awards Began the Southwest Florida Conference on Evangelism and Soul Winning reaching hundreds of churches and pastors across Florida SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS Dr. Briant is used widely in Revivals, Sunday school rallies and campaigns, Associational Meetings and Convention emphases'.
