European Theological Seminary POSTGRADUATE ADMISSIONS MASTER OF SCIENCE (MSc) IN MARRIAGE AND FAMILY STUDIES MASTER OF ARTS IN BIBLICAL STUDIES (Concentration in Pentecostal and Charismatic Studies)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Graduate programs at the European Theological Seminary, in cooperation with Lee University, are open to persons holding a Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university whose undergraduate or postgraduate work has been of sufficient quality and scope to enable them to profitably pursue graduate study. As a guideline, a Bachelor degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 is normally required. The European Theological Seminary, in cooperation with Lee University, offers equal educational opportunity to all persons without regard to race, denomination, gender, age or disability. Applicants are required to meet specific admission criteria established by each of the postgraduate programs. All applications must be accompanied by a 50 Euro nonrefundable application fee. Lee University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters and education specialist degrees. Graduate students may apply for a maximum of 6 credits (normally two courses) achieved at another accredited college or university to be transferred to Lee University. Approval must be given by the Dean of the appropriate School or Department at Lee University. An application to study in a postgraduate program is reviewed by the relevant Faculty members in each program before an admission decision is recommended. The applicant is advised to submit all credentials well in advance of the registration period for the semester in which the application is made. Each postgraduate program, in cooperation with Lee University, has different requirements for admission. Please refer to the section below for specific admission requirements for the programs currently offered (or consult www.ets-kniebis.de which is in English and German). If an applicant does not meet the admission requirements of a postgraduate program, he or she may be considered for probationary acceptance, subject to the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Master of Arts in Biblical Studies (Pentecostal, Charismatic Studies) There are two levels of admission for the M.A. in Biblical Studies. These levels are determined by the prior work of the applicant. Since this M.A. degree is an advanced study within the disciplines of biblical studies, a certain amount of preparation and aptitude is required in this program. Both admissions levels will require the same 36 hours, but those without adequate preparation will be admitted under the condition of taking up to twelve (12) more hours to complete this degree. 2
LEVEL ONE: This level is for applicants who have a bachelor s degree in Biblical and/or Biblical Studies or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. At least one year of New Testament Greek is required. LEVEL TWO: This level is for applicants who have a bachelor s degree in a field other than religion or theology. WRITING SAMPLE: All applicants for the Master of Arts in Biblical Studies are asked to submit an unstapled, unbound copy of an academic paper that exemplifies some of their best academic work. The length of the paper may be from 10 to 30 pages. The purpose of this sample is to provide the MATS committee with an example of research and writing skills. NOTE: Continuing ETS students should submit his/her Final Research Project. 3
