7. Do not assemble or adjust height alone. Two people are required for assembly or height adjustments. 8. Dropping or bouncing load may briefly create excess load causing product damage, severe personal injury and death. 9. Stay clear of load when suspended. 10. Use only sling or chains with a rated capacity greater than the weight of the load being lifted. 11. Do not allow load to swing or drop violently while lowering or moving. 12. Do not make any alterations or modifications to Gantry Crane. Do not adjust safety valve. 13. Properly extend leg extensions and secure boom in proper setting before use. 14. Follow capacities marked on boom; capacity decreases as boom lengthens. 15. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles, heavy-duty work gloves, steel-toe work boots and hard hat during assembly and use. 16. Verify replacement jack has same rating, mounting points and maximum length. 17. Do not use for aircraft purposes. 18. Inspect before every use; do not use if parts loose or damaged. 19. Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered work areas invite accidents. 20. Keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating Gantry Crane. Distractions can cause you to lose control. 21. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating Gantry Crane. Do not use Crane while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention while operating Crane may result in serious personal injury. 22. Follow instructions in Inspection, Maintenance, And Cleaning section of this manual. W The Telescoping Gantry can be used with a Push Trolley (SKU 40493) as well as other types of trolleys offered by Harbor Freight Tools. Assembly IMPORTANT: DO NOT TIGHTEN ANY BOLTS UNTIL YOU ARE FULLY FINISHED WITH ASSEMBLY. OTHERWISE PARTS WILL NOT LINE UP PROPERLY. TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY AND DEATH: The correct bolts must be used during assembly. If any doubts arise regarding proper assembly, contact Harbor Freight at the number at the bottom of this page before use. 1. WARNING! Have a large, clean and uncluttered area for assembly. The Gantry Crane is large and heavy; you may need to lay out the different parts on their sides and tighten and erect entire assembly once complete. NOTE: More than one person will be needed for assembly. It is recommended that saw horses (not included) be used to support larger items such as Posts and I-Beam during assembly. (without brake) to the front of each Base Assembly. See Figure 2, below. Zerk 2. Attach each Vertical Post Assembly (1, 2) to I-Beam (4). NOTE: The Inner Vertical Post (1) and Outer Vertical Post (2) are pre-assembled. Insert four Bolts (14) each through a Washer (19) then through square plates where I Beam Inner Vertical Post Assemblies are connected. See Figure 1, below. Wheel (9) Figure 2 Base Assembly (3) Vertical Post (1,2) NOTE: Before attaching the bases to the Posts, apply grease to the zerks in each caster. It is easier to grease the casters at this point as opposed to when the Gantry Crane is complete. See Figure 2, above. Bolt (14), Washer (19) NOTE: The short section of tubing welded to the side of each Base Assembly goes on the outside of each beam. See Figure 3, below. I-Beam (4) Tubing Figure 1 3. 4. Attach each Vertical Post Assembly to each Base Assembly, making certain that each Pulley Assembly (6) is to the outside of the crane. See Figure 4, below. From the top, insert four Bolts (17) through the base of the Vertical Post Assembly and into Base Assembly. Slip on Washer, Spring Washer (15) and secure by tightening on Nuts (16). 6. Attach two Support Tubes (5) to each Vertical Post Assembly and Base Assembly. Each Support Tube is attached to the one eyelet on the side of the Vertical Post. See Figure 5, above. 7. Insert the Bolt through the top of the Support Tube, and through the eyelet. Slip on a Washer, Spring Washer and secure with the Nut. Repeat for all four Support Tubes. 8. Insert the Pin (7) through the Vertical Post Assembly so that it goes all the way through. Slide the Cotter Pin (18) through the hole in the Pin to secure the Inner Vertical Post into place. Repeat for the second Vertical Post Assembly. 9. Tighten down all of the Nuts and Bolts and make certain that the entire Telescoping Gantry Crane Assembly is tight and secure. 10. With assistance, tilt the Gantry Crane up and set it onto its base. See Figure 6, below. Figure 6 WARNING! More than one person is needed for this procedure. 11. Attach the Handles (8) to each Pulley. See Figure 7, below. Pulley (6) Operating Instructions Read ENTIRE IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION section at beginning of this manual including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product. NOTE: Once Assembly is fully completed, tighten ALL Bolts before initial operation. IMPORTANT: Do not force the tool or the attachment to do the work of a larger industrial crane. It is designed to do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. 1. Move the Crane so that it is directly above the item to be lifted. 2. Securely fasten the item to the Crane with the appropriate trolley or hoist (not included). 3. Raising and lowering the I-Beam requires 2 people. Use the Handle on each of the Vertical Post Assembly. To raise the I-Beam, remove the Cotter Pins (18) from the Locking Pins (7) and slide out Locking Pins. SKU 41188 Handle (8) Figure 7 4. Once the Locking Pins have been removed, turning the Handles on the Pulley Assembly clockwise to raise the I-Beam. Reversing the direction of turn will lower I-Beam. 5. Once the desired height has been reached, reinsert the Locking Pins and secure in place with the Cotter Pins. NOTE: The Vertical Post Assembly has nine different stop positions. See Figure 8, below. 8. WARNING! Do not stand under an object that is being lifted by the Crane. Be aware of the possibility of a load slipping off of a trolley. An item that falls from the Crane may cause serious injury. Do not exceed 1 Ton (2000 lbs.). 9. When finished lifting object, carefullly lower and release item from Crane. WARNING! Maintenance and Servicing Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Gantry Crane. Check for broken, cracked, or bent parts, loose or missing parts, and any condition that may affect the proper operation of the product. If a problem occurs, have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment. 2. To clean, use cloth and mild detergent. Do not use solvents or other flammable agents. 3. When storing, keep Gantry Crane in a clean, dry and safe location away from children. CAUTION!
