Overview For the majority of CCG staff, if you have access to personal confidential data (PCD) i.e. information that identifies either staff or patients, you will need to complete the Introduction to Information Governance module. If you have undertaken the online module for IG in previous years, you will need to complete the Information Governance: The Refresher module. If you do not access PCD you will need to undertake the Beginners Guide. If you have undertaken the online module for IG in previous years, you will need to complete the Information Governance: The Refresher module. Before you can access the online modules you will need to register your details on the online tool. Please follow the instructions below. How Do I sign up for online Information Governance Training? Open the link from this document or type the link https://www.igte-learning.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/igte/index.cfm Into the address bar of Internet Explorer and press the Enter button. Please follow the instructions below if you need help with the above. If a warning box is shown, click the Allow button. The Information Governance Training Website is shown. Click on Register Now. 3
Type the name of your CCG then select from the drop down and click Next Select the closest match to your job role from the drop down list. Then click the Next button 4
Enter your corporate email address, title, first name, last name and. Then click the Next button. Complete password requirements and click on Next You can click on the login page to begin your training. 5
How to log into the Information Governance Training Portal. Click on the link in the email that you receive that contains your username and password. The link should be https://www.igte-learning.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/igte/index.cfm The Information Governance Training Website is shown. Enter the login information that is given in the email that you received following registration. Then click the Login button. If you cannot login on the first attempt, check the email address and re-enter the password from the email. If you still cannot login after multiple attempts, click on Problems Logging In? underneath the Login button. 6
How to undertake the Information Governance Training Once logged into the Information Governance Training Tool, click on the Learning Tools tab as below. The modules available will then be shown. Members of staff, who handle personal confidential data (PCD) as part of their role, are required to complete and successfully pass the Introduction to IG module. Members of staff, who DO NOT handle PCD as part of their role to complete and successfully pass the Beginners Guide to IG. Click on the module required to start the training. 7
An overview of the training is shown, click the Launch button to begin. The contents of this section of the training are shown. Read through the topics under Learn All About It by clicking on each topic name. The training content is then shown. Read the information and then click Next in the bottom righthand corner of the screen. 8
When you get to the end of the section, click Menu to return to the Menu Page. Do not click Exit. Once you have completed all of the sections listed, click on Assessment under Check What You Know. You will need to achieve at least 80% on each assessment to pass each section of the training. There is no time limit, so read the questions carefully and take your time. Once successfully passed you can save or print your certificate. Click on the Menu button to return to the topic page. 9
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Password Reset From the IG Training Tool home page: https://www.igte-learning.connectingforhealth.nhs.uk/igte/index.cfm Registered with an email address In the registered user panel - click the blue text that says Reset my password Enter your email address Click Go A new code will then be generated and sent to your registered email address. (If an access code has not been received within 24 hours the email address used for registration may be incorrect or invalid. Please check the validity of the email address first before contacting the IG Training Tool Help Desk.) Registered without an email address In the registered user panel - click the blue text that says Reset my password Enter your username (usually firstname.lastname) Click Go Select your security question and provide your answer Click Next Enter a new password and re-enter to confirm. Please note! The temporary access code will only allow access to the system once and once only, you must change the password to something you can remember when you are prompted to do so. Registration The IG Training Tool site only allows authorised email addresses such as nhs.net or nhs.uk, but staff members (including Administrators) who do not have an authorised email address can still register without an email address e.g. firstname.lastname. This can be done during the registration process by selecting No when asked Do you have a work email address? In the Organisation search box, enter your employer's organisation name, not the location where you work. Start to type the full name of your organisation into the box, and then click on it when it appears in the drop down list. If you know your national organisation code (e.g. ODS/NACS code) you can search using that instead. If your organisation doesn't appear it may be registered under a different name, e.g. Norfolk PCT instead of NHS Norfolk, so please try alternative names before contacting the IG Training Tool Helpdesk. Print/View a certificate Scores are displayed on the 'Learning summary' page with an option to print a certificate, only if a pass mark of 80% or over has been achieved. To view/print a certificate for a passed assessment: Log into the IGTT with your username and password Select the Learning tools tab Click on the Show all modules button Choose the module you have completed Scroll down to the bottom of the page Click on the Print or Save Certificate button Please Note! The status shown next to each module here is your status for the current year 2011-2012. If you want to see your progress with the module for previous years, click on the title of the module. Change personal/registration details From the Your profile tab you can change any of the following details: Username/Email address, Title, First name, Last name, Employee number, Contact number, Password, Security question and answer, ODS/NACS Code and Job role. 10
