Pedorthic Certification is required to work with people to help them live better lives by addressing conditions of the foot. The field of Pedorthics is a rewarding one with opportunities for growth within an allied health field that is expanding at an amazing pace. The Academy of Pedorthic Science is one of the most respected international schools of Pedorthics. Our new curriculum is designed to position our students to become exemplary Pedorthists and for success in the work force. The Academy of Pedorthic Science is proud to offer special assistance for Veterans. Our Program is approved by the state of Georgia and as a certified Veteran Training Center by the Department of Veterans Service in the state of Georgia. This is a Certificate Program. A Certificate is required to sit for either the BOC or ABC Pedorthist Examination. If you do not receive a final grade of 70% or higher, which includes the evaluations of your practice laboratories, you will not receive a certificate. To re-take the program requires reenrollment and payment of tuition and materials fees. A Certified Pedorthist is a healthcare professional who specializes in the comprehensive patient foot care using therapeutic foot wear and supportive orthotic devices (arch supports) for the foot. The Pedorthist helps the patient prevent or reduce painful or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. The foot is literally the foundation of your body and treatment by a Pedorthist can positively affect the entire musculoskeletal system. A Pedorthist works in collaboration with a physician s office to address a patient s pathology and provides their own patient evaluations and recommendations for treatment options. The Pedorthist designs and/or creates therapeutic shoes, foot orthoses, custom shoes, ankle-foot orthotics, fillers for partial foot amputations and more. The Pedorthist Certificate Program is designed the ensure competency with the primary Pedorthic Learning Domains of: Patient Assessment Formulation of Treatment Plans Implementation Of Treatment Plans Follow up Treatment Plans Practice Management Pedorthic Professional Ethics and Compliance You will begin with thorough review of human anatomy with focus on anatomy of the feet. Human anatomy includes muscles, nerves, bones and skin. Theory and actual practice of orthotics, therapeutic shoes, modifications and custom design will follow. The student will learn on actual CAD/CAM technology and conduct their practice labs in a working orthotics/fitting/technology production facility. FAQS: The Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthic Science Pedorthist Certificate Program What are the program prerequisites? You must be a high school graduate or equivalent. What is a Certificate Program? A Pedorthist is required to be certified by an accrediting entity such as the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics, Inc. or the Board of Certification/Accreditation, International, in order to practice. In some states Pedorthists are required to be licensed. To be able to take the certification exam with an accrediting entity, you must have a program certificate verifying you have taken and passed an accredited Pedorthic Program. You will receive a Program Certificate from the College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE) at Kennesaw State/Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthic Science. Why should I choose CCPE/Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthic Science Pedorthist Certificate Program? The Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthic Science is one of only two schools in the country which have been approved to offer a Pedorthist Certificate Program. Our Pedorthic Certificate Program is sponsored by the College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University. How long is the class? The National Commission on Orthotic & Prosthetic Education (NCOPE) is the credentialing body which approves all education programs for orthotics, prosthetics and pedorthics in the country and curriculum requirements which must be met. Normally to meet these requirements a pedorthist certificate class would be a minimum of four weeks. The Academy of Pedorthic Science Program includes laboratory classes conducted on three Saturdays to be able to complete this 140 hour program in three weeks. This greatly reduces the lodging costs and other expenses for the student to participate in the program. What is the cost? The tuition for the Pedorthic Certificate Program is $3,200.00 and a materials fee of $500.00. The $3,200.00 is paid through CCPE when you register for the class. The materials fee is paid directly to the Foot Solutions Academy of Pedorthic Science (see FAQ When and how do I register? section for payment details) no later than three business days prior to the class start date. For 100% refund of tuition and materials fee, notification and withdrawals must be made three or more business days prior to the class start date. What does the Materials Fee cover? (Materials will be distributed at the first class session.) To successfully complete the Pedorthic Certificate Program you will be issued an android tablet with the entire course materials loaded on it. All orthotic materials you will use in the laboratories are provided. These include pre-fabricated arch supports, custom orthotics blank materials, practice shoes for shoe modification practice, EVA molding materials to create positive molds for custom molded shoes and orthotics, multiple density base orthotic layer materials, adhesives and your safety aids such as goggles, masks, etc. You will be working with materials as specified by Medicare (and adopted by most insurance plans) which will meet the medical criteria of an orthotic as stated in their coverage determinations. When is the next class? June 8 27, 2015, August 10 29, 2015 & October 5 24, 2015 Class location Foot Solutions - Academy of Pedorthic Science 104 Interstate N. Pkwy East, SE Atlanta, GA 30339

Hotels can be pretty expensive, do you offer any assistance? Yes. We have negotiated great rates with a hotel just a block from our facility. The rate is $55.00 per night and includes all the amenities you would need while you are here including full breakfast, internet, laundry, gym, pool and more. The rates even include suites with two queen beds or studio suite with sofa bed so you can share with another student and split the cost. If you would like to stay at a facility that offers kitchenettes we have also negotiated a rate at another hotel as well. Once you register for the class we will send you detailed information. When and how do I register? Register for the class you want as soon as possible. To ensure you are fully prepared for the Pedorthist exam and give you the maximum attention, we are limiting the class size to 16 students. The registration deadline is 3 business days before the start of the class. Because we are the only school offering a program at this time, the demand is very high and the program is filling up quickly.
