A minimum of 1 scholarship will be awarded for each category, provided a qualified application is received. Each category is judged only against like categories. The amount awarded for each scholarship depends on the amount of funds raised during preceding year, the number of qualified applicants, and the merits or needs of each applicant as determined by the Scholarship Committee. If an applicant meets all qualifications at the time of application and subsequently the military member is transferred after the application deadline, resulting in the applicant moving out of the 50-mile radius of Kirtland AFB, the applicant will still be considered eligible for a scholarship award. KSC members are not involved in the selection of the scholarship recipients. A Blind Selection process is used. Each application is assigned a number as they are received. The names of the applicants are covered before applications are given to the selection committee. After the score sheets are tallied; the final scores are placed in descending order.
