If you run a business and you would like to generate more sales; this simple, easy to follow guide will give you proven strategies on how you can generate more website traffic, more online followers, more enquiries and more customers via your website. Introduction This report contains 5 components your website must include to help you generate more leads and customers, and I have given you ideas on how to make those components more effective, increasing your chances of generating even more enquires and sales. Whilst there are dozens of lead generation website components, in my experience, the 5 I have listed below are easy to set up and implement, which in turn will help transform any static website into an interactive website that generates money for your business. If you take the time to read through this information, it will give you an understanding of why these components are important. If you then instruct your Webmaster to add these components to your website, I am convinced it will help turn your website into a revenue generating asset. I will go into detail about why each of these components are important, and give you ideas on how to make them more effective in a moment, but first, here s a list of the components in this report:
1. Easy to Update News Blog 2. Search Engine Optimisation Control 3. Prominent Click- to- Action Contact Details 4. Social Media Sharing Buttons & Commenting 5. Interactive Testimonials & Reviews When you have these components set up and working together on your website, it can dramatically increase the effectiveness of all of the marketing and Internet marketing used to drive potential customers to your business. As you read through each of the components below, it will become obvious how each of them can work to improve the effectiveness of all of the other component parts, which is why it s vital that your website contains everything listed below, and that you follow these simple strategies. Everything I talk about below is about helping you generate more customers. 1. Easy to Update News Blog One of the most important features of a website is it s Blog. A Blog (which is short for Web Log) is simply a section on your website that allows you to easily add information, news and updates, typically displayed in reverse chronological order. Having a blog on your website makes it very easy to add Content to your website on a regular basis. Content is the currency of the Internet and if your website is full of great content, it will without doubt help you generate more visitors to your site. Here are 3 reasons why it s important to regularly add new content to your website, via your blog: Google loves it if you regularly add new, useful and interesting information to your website, your website is more likely to show up in Google Search Results when people are looking for a business like yours Your website visitors will love it most of the people who arrive at your website are looking for information, so if your website contains lots of up to date information, they are more likely to find what they are looking for, which in turn will help to convert visitors into enquiries
Your existing customers will love it if you post useful information that will be of interest to your customers, and you keep them up to date with what s on your blog, it will drive more of your existing customers back to your website, which in turn will lead to more repeat sales and word of mouth recommendations. An integrated Blog makes it easier to add new content to your website because it takes care of the formatting of that content throughout other areas on your website. Below is a screenshot of how Blog posts can appear on a Blog page (see the left hand column). You will notice that the Title of each Blog post, also appears in the Sidebar of your website (see right hand column). All of this formatting is taken care of automatically, meaning all you have to do is add news Posts to your Blog and the formatting across your website takes care of itself. 2. Search Engine Optimisation Control As you add new content, in the form of Posts on your Blog, or new pages to your website; it s crucial that you have full control over the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) elements on each of those Posts and Pages. This is known as, on- page SEO. On- page SEO is about making sure your website posts and pages are optimized to show up on Google or the other search engines, when people search online for information related to your business.
If you re content is optimised for Google, it will make it easier for people to find your website at the exact moment they are looking for a business like yours, and as a result, those people will be more likely to take action when they arrive at your website. Here s a screenshot showing how to control how your website posts and pages are displayed on the Google search page results: If you are not already in control of how your website is listed on Google, in the natural search results, speak to your Webmaster about how to make those changes to your website, as you may be losing out on the opportunity to take full advantage of Google and SEO. Billions of searches are carried out on Google by people looking for information and local businesses. Your customers are searching too, so you need to be in control of your on- page SEO. 3. Prominent Click-to-Action Contact Details We ve talked about adding fresh content to your website via your blog, and we ve talked about the importance of controlling your on- page SEO. Once you improve these things, in my experience this will dramatically increase the amount of potential customers who arrive at your website. The next step is to make sure that your potential customers can easily find and use your contact details. If your phone number and email address are displayed prominently on each page of your website, it will encourage more people to call or email you.
The following screenshot shows a Phone Number and Email address displayed prominently in the top right hand corner of a website, which appears on every page, making it easy for people to find: And if you view this website on a mobile device, you can click on the phone number, and immediately call the number, without the need to copy and paste. If your phone number and email address are both clickable, that will help to encourage more people to get in contact with you. When someone is viewing your website on an iphone, Tablet, Smartphone or any other mobile device, the last thing they want to do is to copy and paste your email or your phone number. Speak to your Webmaster about adding Click- to- Action functionality, also known as Click- to- Call regarding your phone numbers. Surfing the web is happening faster than ever, and we re all becoming more impatient online. If you re going to the trouble of driving more people to your website, it makes sense to make it easier for potential customers to get in touch with you? 4. Social Media Sharing Buttons & Commenting After adding fresh, Google friendly content to your site/blog, and encouraging people to get in touch with you, the next step is to create some interaction on your website, whilst leveraging the power of social networking. When some people arrive at your website, they will be ready to contact you about your products and services, and everything we have talked about so far will encourage them to do so. However, in reality, most of those people who arrive at your website for the first time, will not be ready to get in contact with you directly, just yet. Some of them are still looking at your competitors, the timing is not right for some of them, or they just don t have the time at the moment they are viewing your site.
Some of the potential customers that arrive at your website may have only just found out about your business, so they are unlikely to call you, or email you straight away, it s too much of a big step, they are just not ready yet. What you need to do is create a way to get the not ready people to interact with you in a different way, as we know they will not pick up the phone or email you until they are ready. An excellent way to encourage interaction is to add Social Media Functionality to your website, in the form of Follow, Like & Share Buttons and Social Commenting, as shown below. Social Share Buttons look like this: Social Commenting looks like this: By adding Social Share Buttons & Social Commenting you are making it easier for the not ready people (your potential customers) to interact with you. Here s some interesting information about Social Media:
Almost a fifth of over 65 s now use social networks. Half of UK adults now use Facebook and Twitter. Google+ is now intrinsically linked to Google Search, and Social Media activity now improves Search Engine Optimisation this means, the more people you are connected with, or are talking about your business on Google+, the easier it will be for more of your potential customers to find your business via the Google search engine and beyond. Not only will it help people take the first step toward engaging with you online, but there are additional benefits to having these Social elements embedded into your website, such as: When someone clicks one of your Social Media Buttons, it sends a message out to that persons Followers, Likers or Social Contacts For Example: If I click your websites Social Media Buttons or leave a Social Comment on your website, a proportion of my friends on Facebook, Followers on Twitter or Contacts on Google+ will see that interaction, which will increase the exposure of your website and business to my social media contacts. When this social media interaction takes place, it sends a signal to Google that real people are talking about you and your business, and whilst Google works to reduce anonymous spam online and tactics that fool the search engines, your business will naturally rise to the top, which in turn will drive more potential customers to your website. If you drive your existing happy customers back to your website, to view your new blog content, a proportion of your customers will click your Social Buttons or leave a Social Comment, which in turn helps to get your customers engaging with you more often. 5. Embedded Testimonials & Reviews When a potential customer is thinking about doing business with you, you need to prove to that person that you can deliver on what you say you are going to do. There are various ways to prove yourself via your website, which include the words you use, images you use, case studies you present etc. However, what you say about yourself will only go so far, which is why you need to display proof from your existing happy customers.
What other people say about you, is often far more believable than what you say about yourself, so it s vital to display Testimonials and Reviews from other people on your website. The best way to do this is to Embed Customer Reviews or Posts Directly on your website, or add Screenshots of Testimonials given to you from your customers, as this adds another level of believability. Here s an example of a Testimonial I received from a client recently: Leonardo Wood Web Design were given the task of creating a new website for my company, TTSS- telecoms & Security Systems. Leo was extremely helpful and a definite expert in his field every step of the way during the creation of our new website. My ideas were made reality! A simple email to Leo explaining my vision for the site was all it took, as his understanding of my companies new website needs ensured the whole process of design and build happened fast! A handful of emails was all it took, take a look for yourselves and i m sure you will agree, www.ttss.org.uk is a very informative, easy- to- use, slick and impressive looking website! Start making your dream website become a reality today by contacting Leo, you won t be disappointed. *UPDATE* Our website has been live for about 8-10 weeks now and we have already had so many leads generated from it! This week we secured a 43,000 contract with a school in Suffolk for a new fire alarm system. When asked where they heard about TTSS they said they found our website from a google search and were taken to www.ttss.org.uk! Amazing stuff!! This testimonial is genuine, however, unscrupulous companies have been known to fabricate Testimonials like these and quite often, people are becoming less trusting of these types of written testimonials. So, what you need to do is make your testimonials even more believable; which can be done by requesting customer testimonials and reviews via public websites like Google+, Facebook & Twitter, which can then be embedded using website code or added to your website page as an image, which proves the Testimonial came from a public source.
Here is an example of the Testimonial featured above, which was originally added to Google+ by Danny from TTSS, which I later shared on Google+. I have added this Testimonial directly onto one of our Website Testimonial Pages, and because of the way Google+ works; it s a fully interactive embedded Google+ Post, which now sits on my website. Here s a link to the page that contains this embedded Google+ Post: http://www.leonardowood.com/web- design/clacton/ As a result, it s easy for people to see that the Testimonial received from my client is genuine, which helps me prove to my potential clients that I am a genuine person who can be trusted to do what I say I am going to do. This post was added to my website using the Embed Code, your webmaster should be able to help you Embed your Social Media Reviews and Testimonials, which will help to gain trust with new leads, and convert those leads into customers. You can also Embed posts from Facebook & Twitter directly onto your website, or add image screenshots of any Testimonial or Review from your happy customers online. Here are a few more additional benefits: Receiving Google+ Local Page reviews helps to optimize your Google Map Listing, so you can appear higher in the list when people search for a business like yours. When a customer leaves a testimonial on Google+, Facebook or Twitter, it s usually public, meaning your customers online Friends, Followers and Likers may see that post, which in turn spreads the word about your business further. The extra content added your website in the form of Testimonials and the additional talk about your business via social media sends more signals to Google that your business is real, which will help to put your business in front of more people in the market for the products and services you provide.
Conclusion When your website contains these elements, and you follow this simple Action Plan, it can transform your website from a static, online brochure that s costing you money, into a Lead Generation Machine, consistently helping you generate more customers and profits for your business. Your website is naturally the cornerstone of the majority of your marketing, advertising and networking, which means most of the money, time and effort that you spend on marketing etc. drives most of your potential customers to your website. For example: If you spend money advertising in the Yellow Pages, or on Yell.com, or in the local paper/magazines etc., the majority of the people who find you in those places will inevitably check out your website. If you spend time on social media websites like Twitter, Facebook and Google+ for the purposes of generating new customers, most people will check out your website before they start messaging you about the products and services you offer. Your website address is probably displayed on your business cards, leaflets, brochures and other promotional material, again sending people to your website. Doesn t it make sense to make the most of your website, to make it more effective, to improve the results you get from the money and time you spend marketing, advertising and networking to attract people to your website? I am 100% certain that if you implement what I am talking about in this guide, it will dramatically increase the amount of leads and customers that come through your website, via all of the other marketing streams you currently use.
