MAPMYFITNESS+ GUIDE FOR ANDROID
COMPATIBLE ANDROID DEVICES An Android Smartphone or Tablet with Bluetooth Smart (or Bluetooth 4.0). Earlier Bluetooth versions will not work. NOTE: The screenshots and directions in this Guide are based on a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 4.4.2. Some views and commands may be different on other devices and versions. Samsung Galaxy 4 and 5 HTC One, and One Max Motorola Droid RAZR, Ultra, Maxx, and Mini. And many others. MINIMUM SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS To update, go to SETTINGS / ABOUT DEVICE / SOFTWARE UPDATE Bluetooth Smart Requires Android 4.3 (Jellybean) or greater.
DOWNLOAD MAPMYFITNESS+ FROM GOOGLE PLAY STORE NOTE: The Free versions do not support external devices. Be sure to download the + version. You will be asked to enter your Google Play User ID and to verify your purchase. Once the App is installed, open the App. If you already have an account then sign in using your username and password. If you do not have an account, click JOIN NOW. In the Play Store, search mapmyfitness Click on the $2.99 button and the App will install.
PAIRING THE SPREE POD On order for data to be passed to the App from the Spree it is necessary to pair the Spree with the Android device. Bluetooth Smart works differently than other common Bluetooth devices you may already own such as headsets. Spree and other Bluetooth 4.0 devices are paired within the App. Do not attempt to pair the Spree in the ANDROID > SETTINGS > BLUETOOTH. This way will not work. Ensure Bluetooth is active on the Android device. Go to Android Settings/ Bluetooth and ensure it is active. Prior to pairing or using Spree, ensure that the SPREE POD is fully charged using the supplied USB cable. The red LED will be SOLID RED during charging and will BLINK when fully charged.
PAIRING THE SPREE Be sure that Live Tracking is set to ON. Click on the Menu button. Select Settings. Select Heart Rate, Other Sensors & Devices.
PAIRING THE SPREE If the SPREE does not appear, then it may be in SLEEP mode to save battery. Move the SPREE or shake it to wake it up. If it still doesn t show, plug the SPREE into the USB charger. This will reset it. Always make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on the Android device and that the SPREE is charged. Note that each SPREE can only be paired with one Android device at a time. Select Heart Rate. Click on Connect. Once connected, the heart rate will display.
WORKING OUT WITH SPREE AND THE APP Once you have paired with the Spree POD, you can select your goals, routes and activities in the App. Detailed information about how to use the App is available with in-app tutorials and manuals available at: mapmyfitness.com. Within mapmyfitness+, Spree acts as a heart rate monitor and sends your heart rate information to the App in real time. Please consult the Spree manuals for more detailed information. Click Record a Workout from the Main Menu. The App will show the Heart Rate as one of the metrics.
THIRD PARTY APPS Because the Spree POD uses Bluetooth Smart to communicate, it is also possible to use Spree with other popular third party Apps. However, some advanced features such as body temperature tracking and firmware updates will only work with the Spree App. Most third party apps that connect to external devices such as Spree are NOT free. Third party Apps can be ios, Android or Windows, provided that they are Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4.0) capable. Android devices require Android 4.3 or newer.
