ABOUT OSRAM Creating the future of light with OSRAM The lighting market is going through a period of technological change, with semiconductor-based technologies such as LEDs and OLEDs presenting customers with new possibilities in terms of efficiency, quality of light and flexibility. As a premium supplier, OSRAM is playing a leading role here. For more than 100 years, the trademark OSRAM stands for innovative and sustainable developments in the global lighting market. Today, OSRAM is one of the world s largest suppliers of products and solutions for a wide range of customer requirements from lamps and LED modules to luminaires and high-efficiency light management systems. OSRAM focuses all its resources on the subject of light, actively supporting its customers in making the best choices to meet their individual requirements. With more than 40000 employees in around 150 countries, OSRAM develops tailor-made solutions to cover the specific needs of its customers. 2

ABOUT OSRAM Passion for light, solutions for life. Change is written into our DNA. OSRAM develops intelligent and sustainable products to help conserve resources worldwide and to improve the quality of life through light. Artificial lighting is responsible for around 20 percent of worldwide power consumption. This means that highly energy-efficient lighting can save as much CO 2 worldwide as can be absorbed by a forest twice the size of Italy. At present, more than 70 percent of our turnover comes from energy-saving lighting solutions. LED technology is already a crucial factor here. LED-based products now account for around 25 percent of OSRAM s total sales. OSRAM covers the entire LED value-added chain, from components to light management solutions. And with around 8000 LED patents, OSRAM has a considerable influence on the further development of LED technologies. As a pure light player, OSRAM is a strong global brand, and as a leading innovator in all application and technology sectors it is shaping the digital future of the lighting industry. Fiscal Year 2011 (ended September 30, 2011) 3

4 Always ask for top performance: Lighting for sports and games

INTRODUCTION Sport is more than just a competition about top marks, goals and victories. If the vitality of the events on the field is transmitted to the spectators, then sports becomes a tangible experience, a real event. For this to happen, even the fans in the cheap seats need to be able to follow the action without any problem. The way athletes have their target in their sights, are taking a good look at their fellow competitors, or hit their target with millimeter precision. Professional athletes require professional lighting to be able to give their best performance. And referees need to be in the position to make the right decision in fractions of a second. Light is the decisive requisite here. Lighting solutions from OSRAM support athletes in managing their visual tasks, assist high-contrast vision and thus minimize the risk of injury. At the same time, they meet standardized requirements, even for HDTV transmissions. All we do is light. And light is all we do. About OSRAM 2-3 Introduction 4-5 Soccer 6-7 Racing 8-9 Golf 10-11 Winter sports 12-13 Hockey 14-15 Tennis, Badminton, Squash 16-17 Swimming 18-19 Ice hockey 20-21 Basketball 22-23 Products 24-25 HDTV 26-27 LED competence 28-29 Siteco 30-31 Traxon 32-33 Brochure and catalog overview 34-35 5

In the large arenas, the lighting needs to meet the requirements of athletes, spectators, referees and TV cameras. A game lasts 90 minutes. With OSRAM it could last for more than 5,000 hours no problem. Jörg Meyer-Brenken Business Development Manager, High Wattage HID 6

SOCCER Hattrick: Light for athletes, spectators and referees Soccer is the classic game under the open skies. It has very particular requirements regarding lighting. Particularly in the large world championship stadiums and Olympic arenas, it needs to build a bridge: Between the requirements of the athletes and spectators on the one hand and the environmental protection and efficiency on the other. Rotation symmetrical floodlights are the specialists when it is a matter of transporting light over great distances while simultaneously avoiding light pollution and unwanted light scatter. On the ground the game, above the night sky. TV transmissions make even higher demands of good light: Illuminance, evenness, color reproduction. Television cameras need more of everything. High performance sports for high performance floodlights. SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting, very good light output ratio (rot.-symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT S2 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with fl exible installation (symm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TS long-arc (2000 W) Long system lifetime, good economic effi ciency; ideal for training grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry 7

RACING From 1 to 1000 horsepower: Light is safety Regardless of whether one horsepower pulling a sulky, or up to 1000 hp on the Formula 1 circuit: Every type of race circuit makes its own special demands of the lighting. But it is primarily a matter of safety. Pilots need to be able to react in a fraction of a second and must not lose their overview or control at any time. This is why it is important to avoid glare and alternating between light and dark zones. Speed and maneuvers are also very challenging for the human eye. To be able to correctly process what you have seen in a very short time, the eye should be provided with colors which are as natural as possible. This is provided by OSRAM lamps with excellent color reproduction properties. SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting, very good light output ratio (rot.-symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) Fast and hazardous if thousands of horsepower are in action on the race track, then keeping the lighting even helps the drivers not to lose their overview. SiCOMPACT S2 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with fl exible installation (symm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TS long-arc (2000 W) Long system lifetime, good economic effi ciency; ideal for training grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry 8

The racing team is responsible for providing maximum safety for driver and car. We provide it on the track. Rolf Krüger Product Manager, Sports & Area Lighting 9

It all depends on the tee shot. The standard compliant lighting of the driving range provides optimal learning conditions and overview between the players. Practice makes perfect. But to do that, you need to be able to see where you have hit the ball. Franziska Arndt Lighting Designer 10

GOLF Tee shot without a handicap: Safety at the driving range It all starts with the tee shot. The driving range is the preferred practice ground for golfers. The lighting of the area means it can also be used in the evenings and in the dark and also enhances the overview when several players are all working hard on improving their handicap. To do this, the player must be able to follow the flight of his golf ball as well as possible at any time of day and in all weathers, thus allowing him to optimize his swing. Large floodlights provide sufficient brightness even over distances of up to 150 meters. Increasingly strong lighting is being used for the green. It supports the precision work being carried out by eye, hand and brain when the player anticipates the path of the ball and putts it in. SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting, very good light output ratio (rot.-symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT S2 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with fl exible installation (symm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TS long-arc (2000 W) Long system lifetime, good economic effi ciency; ideal for training grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry 11

WINTER SPORTS Safety on snow and ice: Even lighting for racing events The days are short in the winter. It is practical if you can participate in sport in the evenings as well. Particularly as racing in the dark under floodlights has its own special appeal. In racing events which go downhill quickly, high horizontal lighting strengths are required for the athlete and high vertical lighting strengths for the TV cameras: in alpine ski races and freestyle competitions. The same applies for the iced track: For bobsled, luge and skeleton. Measurements are made with thousandth of a second precision, the smallest pilot error is decisive. Dark areas compromise their ability to react and increase the risk of injury. High performance floodlights from OSRAM support good visibility, safety during sport and excitement among the spectators. SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting, very good light output ratio (rot.-symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT S2 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with fl exible installation (symm. light distribution) If athletes are taking great risks, then better to err on the side of caution with the light. Dr. Stefan Jüngst Product Manager, HPD SiCOMPACT A2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (asymm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TS long-arc (2000 W) Long system lifetime, good economic effi ciency; ideal for training grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry POWERSTAR HQI -TS (250 400 W) Very good color rendering, long system lifetime POWERSTAR HQI -T (250 400 W) Classic solution for economic effi cient lighting, long system lifetime POWERBALL HCI -TM (250 400 W) Brilliant light with very compact geometry, very good economic effi ciency and easy handling 12

In ski races and snowboard races, it is often a matter of a few hundredth or thousandth of a second. High lighting strengths promote safety and improve the athletes' reaction times. 13

Racing towards to goal at the speed of light: High lighting strengths for field hockey If it is a matter of lighting, the requirements made by field hockey and soccer are basically comparable: It is important to avoid glare and dark shadows being cast on the playing field. The difference: In hockey the ball is significantly smaller and considerably faster. It can reach up to nearly 150 kilometers per hour. This is why very high horizontal illuminance is required in field hockey. To be able to assess the high speeds correctly and to minimize danger of injury to players, it is also important for the lighting to be extremely even. More safety thanks to light from OSRAM. SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting, very good light output ratio (rot.-symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT S2 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with fl exible installation (symm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TS long-arc (2000 W) Long system lifetime, good economic effi ciency; ideal for training grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry 14

HOCKEY In hockey the ball flies at around 150 kilometers per hour. The spectator would like to see it, the player needs to see it. It is the job of the lighting to make this possible. Jörg Eggers Lighting Designer High illuminance and evenness support your ability to see and reduce the risk of injury to the hockey players. 15

TENNIS BADMINTON SQUASH Along the path to victory are precision, reaction and speed. Lighting from OSRAM provides you support in the same way as your doubles partner. Dirk Partum Project Manager Tennis is precision work and demands utmost concentration from the players - sometimes for hours at a time. As a general rule: The smaller and faster the object of play, the better the illuminance of the playing fi eld needs to be. 16

Game, set, light: Lighting for high visibility requirements Regardless of whether it is tennis, squash or badminton all three types of sport make the highest demands of the human eye: A small, very fast object of play which comes flying at the player in front of alternating backgrounds. The players need to anticipate the path of flight and react very quickly. And that with a ball, which in squash for example, reaches speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour! The high illuminance provided by OSRAM floodlights support your eyes and help them identify contrast well. Level switches and daylight dependent system control increase the efficiency of the installation lighting levels as you need them, like them, and which suit your budget. SiCOMPACT A2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (asymm. light distribution) Comfit M Ball protection and mounting option in continuous rows SiCOMPACT S2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (symm. light distribution) DALI PROFESSIONAL Innovative light management system for indoor sports facilities POWERSTAR HQI -TS (250 400 W) Very good color rendering, long system lifetime POWERSTAR HQI -T (250 400 W) Classic solution for economic effi cient lighting, long system lifetime LUMILUX T5 HO XT Long system life cycle and very good price/ performance ratio 17

SWIMMING Clear view of the cool water: Swimming pool lighting with minimal reflections Siteco Mirrortec Projector 400 Uniform illumination of wide surfaces and fl exible installation (only with refl ector) Not so much for the swimmer, more for spectators and referees: In contrast to other types of sport, the lighting of swimming pools is primarily for the people who are not in the water and who are watching the action in the water. Not easy: Because when the competitors complete their lengths, eddies of water and splashes impair the view of the action. So the lighting needs to avoid additional reflections on the surface of the water. Secondary reflector systems from Siteco provide the ideal solution for this. They direct the light evenly and precisely on the surface of the water. Mirrortec also makes it easier to install the lighting system. The projectors and installed outside of the pool area, making maintenance easier. Siteco Mirrortec Projector 1000 Uniform illumination of wide surfaces and fl exible installation (only with refl ector) Siteco Mirrortec Reflector 100... 100A Uniform illumination of wide surfaces and fl exible installation (only with projector) Siteco Mirrortec Reflector 200CA Uniform illumination of wide surfaces and fl exible installation (only with projector) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -T (250 400 W) Classic solution for economic effi cient lighting, long system lifetime POWERBALL HCI -TM (250 400 W) Brilliant light with very compact geometry, very good economic effi ciency and easy handling 18

High illuminance promotes high contrast visibility, installation above the edge of the pool helps minimize refl ections. So that the swimmer does not disappear in the water from the spectator's point of view People who are not in the water want to be able to see as well as possible what is happening in the water. The lighting in swimming pools needs to make this possible. Torsten Onasch Business Development Manager, Sports & Area Lighting 19

ICE HOCKEY High speed on blades: Light for quick reactions High speed on blades Ice hockey is one of the fastest team sports there is. To master up to nearly 50 km/h on slippery ice, the players need to be athletic, sure-footed and agile. The puck moves over the ice at speeds which are even three times faster. A challenge for the player, a challenge for the lighting. So that the players and spectators can follow the breathtaking speed, the lighting at ice hockey needs to provide more than just illuminance. Evenness and good color reproduction support the players' reactions. Optimal territory for the LED floodlight. It meets these criteria and on top of that, works at a whole new level of efficiency. SiCOMPACT FL MIDI S HDTV-compliant lighting for high-speed recordings, fl exible control via DMX (symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (asymm. light distribution) At ice hockey rinks, high illuminance is required so that the players and spectators are still able to see the puck. POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry POWERSTAR HQI -TS (250 400 W) Very good color rendering, long system lifetime POWERSTAR HQI -T (250 400 W) Classic solution for economic effi cient lighting, long system lifetime POWERBALL HCI -TM (250 400 W) Brilliant light with very compact geometry, very good economic effi ciency and easy handling 20

Ice hockey is a high performance sport, for your eyes as well. The best way to support this is to have the best light. Thorsten Sollich Lighting Designer 21

In basketball, it is primarily a matter of avoiding glare for the players, particularly in the immediate vicinity of the basket. Sports, excitement, a show basketball is pure entertainment. And OSRAM stage manages the entire thing. Christian Schwaiger Product Manager, Sports & Area Lighting 22

BASKETBALL Basketball: Bad light rebounds The basketball court is the stage of giants. And this stage needs to stand out. This is why the playing area in basketball is designed to be much lighter that the spectator area. The sport becomes an event which is already evident by the way the players run in. Here, the sports lighting becomes event lighting - preferably it should be possible to flexibly dim and control the light. With LED solutions such as the LED floodlight, control via DMX is possible with no problem. In addition to that, the prescribed standards are complied with. Sources of irritation such as glare, cast shadows and strong reflections are reduced. SiCOMPACT FL MIDI S HDTV-compliant lighting for high-speed recordings, fl exible control via DMX (symm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A3 MAXI Standard- and HDTV-compliant lighting with less than three percent light spill (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT A2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (asymm. light distribution) SiCOMPACT S2 MIDI Flexible installation and simple adjustment with steps of 5 (symm. light distribution) POWERSTAR HQI -TS short-arc (1000 2000 W) Very compact with very good color rendering and maximum effi ciency; ideal for professional sports grounds POWERSTAR HQI -TM (600 1000 W) Allround lamp: very good color rendering, long system lifetime, very compact geometry POWERSTAR HQI -TS (250 400 W) Very good color rendering, long system lifetime POWERSTAR HQI -T (250 400 W) Classic solution for economic effi cient lighting, long system lifetime POWERBALL HCI -TM (250 400 W) Brilliant light with very compact geometry, very good economic effi ciency and easy handling 23

HDTV High-end lighting technology for high class entertainment Thousands on location, millions watching on television. TV transmissions make significantly higher demands of lighting than athletes and spectators, particularly if you are talking about HDTV. Illuminance, evenness, color reproduction television cameras need more of everything. Sports associations such as UEFA and FIFA provide their own guidelines to offer cameras the best possible recordings and the public at home the best possible sporting experience. One example: The fi nal of the European soccer championship. UEFA specifi es 2000 Lux here as the vertical illuminance in the direction of the permanently installed cameras. FIFA requires the same. High performance fl oodlights such as the SiCOMPACT R3 MAXI from the OSRAM subsidiary Siteco effortlessly meet these requirements. In the case of indoor sports, the LED fl oodlight SiCOMPACT FL MIDI S from Siteco provides HDTV compatible and also highly effi cient light. Energy saving LED technology. HDTV compatible light for high speed recordings. Minimal maintenance effort. Sports lighting which complies with standards. The LED floodlight is suited for vertical illuminance of 2000 Lux and does particularly well with super slow motion. For this purpose, the recording is made generally at 300 frames per second. Conventional lighting which pulses at 50 Hertz leads to a clearly visible flickering in the recordings. Not the Siteco floodlight. During the practice test in the television studio at PLAZAMEDIA, the high speed recordings remain free of any flicker up to 1500 frames. Even with a power reduction by 30 percent, the floodlight still provides suitable light for HD recordings. 26

HDTV Video from the practical test is available as a download on the Internet at www.siteco.com or by simply reading the QR code with a smart phone 27
