By providing the means of production and a public forum, BNN invites diverse communities to express themselves and encourages broad-based public dialogue using digital video and presents it on BNN public access channels. You will coordinate all internet/online communications for: BNN Public Access production facilities and training Two local cable television channels and website BNN News/Neighborhood Network News, a nightly local news program BNNLive interactive studio for non-profit groups Special community television programming Community-based multimedia computer center JOB DESCRIPTION Are you ready to push yourself and advance your online career? The BNN Drupal Webmaster supervises and coordinates all aspects of BNN's online infrastructure. This includes integrating BNN's IT system into an internet/online based workflow. You will be involved in all aspects of the development process from start to finish: Websites, Facebook Apps, Landing Pages, Micro Sites, Community Blogs and more. You must be energetic, enthusiastic and ready to stay current with emerging technologies in the fast paced web 2.0 development environment. You will report directly to the General Manager. Web Master Overview Your position on the content team will be responsible for three primary scope areas in the content/communications space.
1. Overseeing the integration of updates and new postings into existing website 2. Designing and posting new pages as needed to support marketing/communications 3. Servicing other BNN departments that rely on interactive content In total, you will be responsible for facilitating the deployment of BNN s new Drupal-based website to replace a proprietary operational database and stand-alone production website. This involves making significant changes in design and content data from BNN s database, into the new Drupal-based CMS website which is partially complete. BNN will deploy this new site by summer of 2010 with support provided by Denver Open Media. You will manage incremental rollout of website features to facilitate a comfortable replacement of operational systems. Develop a theme to appropriately brand this Drupal website to meet BNN s specifications. And facilitate discussion and feedback from BNN staff throughout this process in preparation for site launch. QUALIFICATIONS 1. You must be able to Re-design the entire BNN website, create a new BNN community news Blog from scratch and implement an amazing social media strategy including YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other web 2.0 social media sites. 2. You will oversee the integration of updates and new postings into existing as well as new BNN Blogs and websites. You will also coordinate the design and posting of new pages for the Digital Media Education Strategist as needed to support marketing/communications, community outreach and public information. 3. You will update the BNN website with new content including creation & posting of new web pages, posting of new videos and collateral materials, creation and updating of landing pages, Blogs, banner ads, etc. 4. You will be responsible for quality control of all content delivered. There is also a possibility that this role could expand into the production and delivery of other multi-media content including client training modules, online video education & social networking platform, online fundraising and on demand training. 5. You know all the ways of using Google's Webmaster tools to track, measure and improve BNN's visibility and presence online. Including Sitemaps, Indexing & SEO, Google Trends, Google AdWords, Google Insights for Search, Google Search-Based Keyword Tool, Google Analytics and Google Website Optimizer. SKILL SETS REQUIRED 3-5+ years of experience in web production. Proven ability to debug code (No WYSIWYG Editor).
Ablility to work with BNN staff, consultants, designers and content creators to deliver web 2.0 compatible pages. Thorough knowledge of standard-based HTML 4/5 coding as well as Drupal CMS, Wordpress CMS, CSS, XML and JavaScript (including jquery). Strong PHP/MySQL skills also preferred. Proven ability to understand an established creative design methods and use style guides to deliver high quality web materials/content that meets highest editorial standards, and is on point and on schedule. Strong online video and multimedia skills including video compression, posting optimized videos to YouTube and social media websites, flash/actionscript, mootools, script.aculo.us, jquery and Spry Framework. Final Cut Pro, Abobe Premiere and AfterEffects experience are a feather in your hat for you. Knowledge and ability to quickly learn InDesign, Photoshop & Adobe CS5 and new web development software and tools will increase your pay. Ability to work under pressure, on multiple projects, with multiple in-house stakeholders, outside consultants and vendors. Strong writing, editing and design skills. Video skills, SEO knowledge, Keyword research, Competitive analysis, Market Samurai and e-learning experince are all strong pluses. RESPONSIBILITIES Update all content and adjust existing layouts to maximize screen real estate Configure and prepare Drupal-based website to replace a proprietary operational database product, based primarily on Denver Open Media s specifications. Migrate data from a retiring operational database product into the new Drupal-based CMS structure. Manage incremental rollout of website features to facilitate a comfortable replacement of operational systems. Maintain a theme to appropriately brand this Drupal website to meet BNN s specifications. Facilitate discussion and feedback from BNN staff throughout this process in preparation for new site and Blog launches. Critical website components The maintenance of BNN s current website in a Drupal-based format will include the following elements: Online video library and video management tools.
Elegant and appropriately branded for public presentation on the web. Organizational brochure information for membership, programs and television channels. Multi-admin permissions for distributing site management workload among many BNN staff. Community News and blogging ability for sanctioned users, RSS feed for all news and blog sources. Integration of CiviCRM member management system Integration with the MERCI module for managing equipment, inventory and facility rentals. Simple and user friendly interface for end users Calendaring and workgroup scheduling for BNN & Community events/classes Compliance with Web Accessibility standards On line donation acceptance and processing via CiviCRM and payment processors (such as PayPal) Ability to convert Photoshop files into fully functional web pages. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise interns if necessary. Video production/editing, multimedia and website development a plus. Knowledge of BNN, Boston and/or community media a plus. Language Skills Strong written and oral communication skills. Intimate knowledge of Drupal website, ecommerce and theme development: PHP, HTML, CSS and MYQSL development environments required.
