Accessing the Swansea Portal Once logged into the Swansea Portal you will have links to: Blackboard Email Intranet As well as a number of other services, facilities and access to University information. To access the portal go to the University homepage: www.swansea.ac.uk. From here follow the students link at the top right hand side of the page. This will take you to the portal login page, your login details will be: USERNAME: - student number PASSWORD: date of birth (day/month/year). Once logged in you will have a portal homepage with a number of links. Blackboard To access blackboard click on the Blackboard link or icon when logged into Swansea Portal, the login details will be: USERNAME: STUDENT NUMBER PASSWORD: DATE OF BIRTH To navigate blackboard: click on the My Studies tab at the top left of the page. The courses you are enrolled in will be listed under Current 2014/2015 Courses any important announcements will be displayed on this page. To find course information, click on Course Information on the left hand side of the page. WEB Timetables From the Swansea Portal page, click on the Intranet link or icon. To login to the intranet the username and password will be as above unless you have changed your password. Once logged in you will be directed to your student profile, to access your CelCat timetable click the link Links to services found beneath the blue Student Services tab and Cel- Cat Timetables from the list. To view your timetable, against the Resource option please select Group then scroll down to find your course i.e. Nursing (S14) Adult SU You now need to select the week you wish to see by clicking on one of the dates listed. Your timetables will then appear on screen, scroll up and down the page to view PLEASE REMEMBER TIMETABLES MUST BE CHECKED ON A DAILY BASIS
Email To access your email click the on the icon (shown above) on the portal homepage, all course related correspondence will be sent to your university email account so be sure to check it regularly. Manual Handling - Important Notice Please note for all Manual Handling and Violence & Aggression sessions suitable footwear e.g. training shoes or shoes worn in practice and suitable clothing must be worn. Students should not wear jewellery, have short nails & ensure that they tie their hair back. Students are also required to bring their manual handling passports to every manual handling session and V & A Passport to V & A practical sessions. Failure to comply with this may result in you being unable to participate in the session. Timesheets - Important Notice All Students are required to submit accurate practice timesheets to personal tutors (Course Leaders for Ologies) for scrutiny prior to submitting to placements and audit. The recording of hours is statutory requirement for registration. Failure to submit timesheets will mean students will be recorded as absent from practice areas. Attendance Registers Whilst in University, students are required to complete attendance registers for ALL taught sessions. Depending on your course of study, these can either be obtained from the grey cabinets on the second Floor of the Glyndwr building or from Room 203 Vivian Tower. These registers must be signed by students and the lecturer then placed in the register box in Room 148 Glyndwr Building or Room 203 Vivian Tower, at the end of each day. Similar arrangements will be in place for students studying in St David s Park.
Turnitin Submission Instructions 1. Login to Blackboard using your own username and password 2. Click on Tab MY STUDIES in the top left hand corner of the Blackboard page 3. Click on your course/module eg Diploma in Paramedic Science 4. Depending on the module, click on one of the following in the blue rectangular box on the left side of the page ASSIGNMENTS, ASSESSMENT & FEEDBACK or TURNITIN SUBMISSIONS 5. The assignment you wish to submit will appear listed by module code 6. Click on the words VIEW/COMPLETE under the relevant module code You have now accessed Turnitin 7. Details of your module will appear (see diagram below) please click on the words SUBMIT Assignment Inbox: SHN127/132/133_What is Nursing? Info Dates Similarity Start 18-Dec-2014 2:08PM Sept 14 - What is Nursing? Due 20-Mar-2015 1:59PM Submit View SHN127/132/133-20.03.13 Post 02-May-2015 12:00AM 8. Select single file upload from the CHOOSE A PAPER SUBMISSION METHOD pull down menu (see diagram below) 9. The boxes entitled FIRST NAME and LAST NAME should already be populated with your details 10. Enter your student number in the box SUBMISSION TITLE ( see diagram below) eg 453286
11. Click browse in the BROWSE FOR THE FILE TO UPLOAD section (see diagram below) 12. A browse box will pop up on Screen and you will need to find your assignment 13. Double click on your assignment and you will see it loading and appear in the BROWSE FOR THE FILE TO UPLOAD section 14. To complete submission click on SUBMIT at the bottom of the page YOU HAVE NOW SUBMITTED YOUR ASSIGNMENT YOU WILL BE SENT AN EMAIL RECEIPT TO YOUR UNIVERSITY EMAIL ACCOUNT CONFIRMING YOUR SUBMISSION. YOU MUST RETAIN AN ELECTRONIC OR PRINTED COPY OF THIS RECEIPT (If you experience any problems with your Turnitin submission, please contact shsawards@swansea.ac.uk for assistance) PLEASE NOTE: The Turnitin submission area will be open 3 weeks prior to the submission deadline and will close at 2pm on the date of submission, it is your responsibility to ensure the essay you are submitting is your final, completed work.
