How to Use This Guide Step One: Review page 3 Graduation Plan Under House Bill 5 Rockwall ISD. This page provides a quick overview of the requirements of House Bill 5 Foundation Graduation Plan and the Endorsement Choices available in Rockwall ISD. Step Two: Carefully read through the Rockwall ISD Endorsement s on pages 4-8. Have a conversation with your child about his/her interests and talents. Keeping this conversation in mind, identify the Endorsement s that seem to be a match between your child s interests/talents and the Endorsement courses. Before looking through this guide, it would be helpful for you to visit: www.rockwallisd.org/pathways. The information on this pathway preview site provides detailed descriptions of each of the endorsements and contains a sample 4-year plan for every endorsement pathway. Looking through the courses included on the 4-year plans will help you and your son/daughter identify the endorsement and pathway that seems to be the best fit. You can also use these sample plans to complete the blank 4-year plan at the back of this guide. It may also be helpful to use our Career Cruising resource during this conversation. Career Cruising is a tool that includes interest inventories, career information, and how to match those two. To access Career Cruising from your home, go to: http://www2.careercruising.com/default/cplogin/risd Step Three: After you have selected the endorsement and pathway your son/daughter will follow, please circle that endorsement at the top of the RISD Course Request form and write the specific pathway you have chosen on the blank line underneath. Step Four: Complete the remainder of the RISD Course Request form. Sign the form in the space allotted and return to your child s counselor. 2
