Advising/Early Registration - Student Procedures Step One Meet with an Academic Advisor Your academic advisor will go over the courses that you have currently taken and will create a list of courses that you should take for this semester. Your advisor will not create a schedule for you, but he or she will be happy to answer any questions that you might have. If you have a required course for which you must register, your advisor will list that on this worksheet. Use the chart below to create a list of courses you should take this semester. Be sure to register for any required courses first. After you have met with an advisor, you will then be ready to move to the registration room. Please see the person at the front desk in the scheduling room to have your hold removed. Step Two Web register for your courses Using the chart that your academic advisor has provided to you, you will web register for classes. First, you will need to log into MyDC. o Open the web browser and go to www.darton.edu. o Select MyDC in the upper, right hand corner of the screen. o Enter your username and password. If you do not know your username and password, you may select DCid Lookup underneath the log-in box and follow the prompts. o 1 2 Once you have logged into MyDC, you will select the Course Registration tab. o From here, select Add or Drop Classes. This will allow you to make changes to your schedule and/or register for your classes. You will then select Spring 2014 as the term. 3 4 5 This will take you to the Add Courses Worksheet. On this screen, you will select Class Search. 6
The class search button will allow you to search for open courses. First, select your subject and then click Course Search. In the next window, click View Sections next to the course you need to take. 7 9 8 From here, you will be given a list of sections offered of the course. The instructor, day, time, and location of the course are all shown here. Also on this screen, you can see if the course is still available. If you see a C instead of a check box under the Select column, the section is no longer available. You will then be taken back to the Add Classes Worksheet where you should see your class added to your schedule. If there is an error, please read the prompt and ask the faculty member on duty if you have questions. 10 11 When you have successfully added your class, click the Class Search button and begin again at Step 7 above. If you select the wrong course or change your mind, you can delete the course on the Add Classes Worksheet page. Under Actions next to the course you wish to drop, select the dropdown menu and select DROP followed by Submit Changes. When you have finished registering for all of the class you would like, you can see your current schedule by selecting the Student Tab again and then selecting the Registration option. From the next screen, select Student Detail Schedule. Your full schedule including all dates, times, etc. will be listed for you there. 13 14 15 A. Be sure to check the campus location to ensure that you are only registering for Main campus (Albany), Cordele campus if you are a Cordele student, or Online. B. Also examine the date range to be sure that you are taking the course in the appropriate term. Use this sheet to help you organize your schedule and keep up with dates and times to ensure that you do not overlap your courses. Courses Scheduling Sheet Course Number Course Name Day(s) Time Location IMPORTANT NOTES Make sure to check school calendar so that you know when classes begin. It is incredibly important for you to start class on the FIRST DAY. Contrary to what your friends might tell you, you must attend class on the first day. For online classes, you must log in on the first day of class and begin working. You may print your schedule from any computer using MyDC. Follow steps 1-2 and then 13-15 to access your schedule. Then simply select Print using your browser window. You can also print your schedule in the lobby of the student center today. Be sure to visit with Financial Aid, the cashier s office, and any other necessary offices on campus to be sure that your financial obligations are met. All students are responsible for having their textbooks and necessary supplies, their parking permit, and their Student ID card. Be sure to obtain all of these materials. Some online classes require additional fees for proctored tests, labs, etc. Additionally, students should be aware that some classes require proctored testing to occur exclusively at the Albany or Cordele Campus or Proctor U (online) students must have access to a computer (not a mobile device), a webcam, and a microphone to utilize Proctor U services. Students may check http://online.darton.edu and click Additional Course Fees to see if classes they wish to take have any of these requirements.
