Job Description Project Manager with responsibility for Communications 42 hours per week (flexible) Statuary holidays 25 28k Closing date: 20 th April First interviews: 5th May Second interviews: 12 th May Job Purpose: A full- time post to operate as part of the Grizedale and Coniston Institute team, with a responsibility for the communications portfolio. The post would connect the many existing resources and relationships that have been developed throughout the locality, as well as with Grizedale Arts range of national and international partners. The principle local collaborators would be The Ruskin Museum, Lawson Park and The Coniston Mechanics Institute, as well as its user groups. A second circle of partners would include local farms, Brantwood (Ruskin s Estate and trust), The National Trust, valley- wide village halls, the church and other interest groups and organisations. The post- holder would also be involved in art world presentations of the work developed; these include biennales, gallery exhibitions, art festivals etc. The post would be based in the Coniston Institute and Ruskin Museum and would be directly involved in the management and implementation of much of the public programme in the village and surrounds. All members of Grizedale staff collaborate and contribute equally to the wide range of activities that help run and develop our programme - from gardening to grant applications. This is in line with the philosophy of the organisation, and part of an ambition to bring a creative approach into everyday life and work.

Specific responsibilities/duties: This post would have an overview and responsibility for the communications internally, within the network of Grizedale Arts participating artists and practitioners, as well as the outfacing public relations and communications. This would include: Management of staff meetings, ensuring effective and productive modes of working. Communications with the board and stakeholders including funders, Arts Council and local councils. Communications with participants, information delivery in appropriate formats Cultivation of press contacts, local, national and international. Delivery of press releases and other forms of promotion as required. Management of the digital and online communication from social media to image bank Responsibility for developing a working relationship with the Arts Council s Audience Finder programme, the implementation and documentation of the material developed. These duties would be supported by all staff and would draw on the full range of resources available to the 3 organisations. In line with this approach the post holder would also assume a responsibility for the digital presence of the organisation including the website, blogs, facebook and twitter accounts. Communication through digital platforms and social media are key to Grizedale Arts; due to the rural context of the organisation much of our work and philosophy is articulated online, to both national and international audiences and long- term partners. The post- holder would be expected to bring a creative approach to these elements involving artists, community, designers and others as required. The role would require an awareness of the dying off and emergence of new formats and would have an enthusiasm for engaging in this process.

Person specification: 3 years experience in the arts, community and communications fields and evidence of effective implementation A successful record of project management in the arts sector A proven record of creative thinking and initiation and delivery of projects Commitment to a functional role for the arts and artists in a broader society actually a functional role for everyone Good communication skills and a confident use of them An ability and enthusiasm to work with people A determination to make all things better than they are Applicants should look at the websites for both Grizedale Arts, Lawson Park the Coniston Institute and Ruskin Museum the ambition is over the next 3 years to bring these 4 organisations into a dynamic force in the valley community. Applications should be in the form of a 500word letter this can be quite informal and would ideally describe the applicants ambition, philosophy and effectiveness. It is a remotely located farm house and small holding, garden, library and design collection that acts as an inspiration and resource for the volunteers, interns and artists working with Grizedale Arts.
