Mass Notification Systems Are you prepared? Every day, a threat or emergency endangers the lives of our students, personnel, and citizens. At a moments notice, emergency managers and security officials must be able to protect, alert, and inform people. When seconds count and take-action information must reach the affected public, you need a Mass Notification System (MNS) that gives you the reliability and flexibility to effectively get the right message to the right people at the right time under all emergency circumstances. A Mass Notification System is designed to help you alert and protect people. Through concise, timely and event-specific voice and visual messages, a MNS communicates what to do in response to threat. An integrated MNS includes the following components: Individual Building Notification System/Autonomous Control Units (ACU) Outdoor (Giant Voice) Warning Systems Portable Alerting Systems Visual Notification Systems Additional technologies, such as SMS text messaging, phone-based call systems and email blasts, can be used to extend the reach of the Mass Notification System. For example, reaching off-site personnel. An effective MNS enables you to: Rapidly alert, warn and inform people of imminent danger Efficiently manage personnel response before, during and after a disaster Broadcast safety sirens, live and recorded voice messages and visual alerts Alert the effected areas, using sectors and sub-sectors Meets industry Codes and Standards. WAVES and SAFEPATH MNS are the only comprehensive solution that meet the following mass notification system requirements and codes: Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) - 4-021-01 Design and O&M: Mass Notification Systems (MNS) National Fire Protection Association NFPA 72 - Annex E Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA 1910.165 - Employee Alarm Systems Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Outdoor Public Alerting Systems Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) It also communicates with Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) And has received Safety Act Certification from DHS. In the event of a terrorist attack, this Act provides legal liability protection for customers of WAVES. 1

Applications WAVES Integrated Base Station, Network of Secure and Robust Radios, Indoor Building Notification Systems and Audible and Visual Notification Devices, providing flexible notification solutions to meet various applications. Process Shutdown Alarm and Emergency Signaling Condition Signaling Security Alert Equipment Obstruction Warning Individual Building Notification Outdoor Warning Systems Portable Alerting Systems Extraordinary times require extraordinary communications Since no two campus environments or incidents are alike, you need a comprehensive solution that is flexible. This solution is available today from Cooper Wheelock, a leader in notification solutions, and MadahCom, Inc., a premier provider of Emergency Control and Mass Notification Systems. Our systems are designed to adjust to all budget restrictions, allowing the ability to start with a base system and gradually add additional components. WAVES (Wireless Audio Visual Emergency System) and SAFEPATH are customized MNS solutions. Whether indoor or outdoor, those in immediate threat areas can be alerted quickly and accurately. The combined WAVES and SAFEPATH solution is designed to withstand emergencies where power outages and cell phone system infrastructure collapse may be anticipated. It is the only comprehensive solution that meets NFPA 72 Mass Notification guidelines as well as military mass notification requirements. In the event of a natural disaster, chemical attack, HAZMAT spill, or perimeter breech, our mass notification solutions enable emergency and security managers to provide critical audio (siren and voice) and visual (strobes and display signs) messages that are specific to the threat, specific to the area affected, and in real-time. 2

Feature low and high-power mobile speaker systems as well as visual notification devices. Require minimal operator set-up and can be rapidly deployed before, during and after an attack or disaster. 5

Disaster Survivability Around the world, we are helping emergency managers, security professionals and force protection personnel rapidly deliver the right message, to the right people, at the right time in order to save lives, mitigate casualties and minimize chaos. WAVES and SAFEPATH, designed to be survivable and operate in severe electronic countermeasure environments, utilize secure technology that protects its network during a disaster and reconfigures automatically if a unit goes down. Alerts and messages continue broadcasting without interruption. If the primary command center is destroyed, a fixed or mobile secondary station(s) can be used to control the system. WAVES base stations and radios can be protected by UPS (uninterrupted power supply) that provide back-up power in the event of a grid power loss. Solar panels and back-up generators are also available. 6
