ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Introduction ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 is comprised of two core modules: Valuation-Cash Flow: This module enables you to model property level cash flow analysis and valuations. Repertoire Reporting: This module enables you to model portfolio reporting and analysis. The ARGUS Enterprise platform is a powerful suite of integrated solutions for analyzing and reporting on tenant, property, and portfolio information for the purposes of: Fund and investment management Portfolio and asset management Cash flow projections and valuations Budgeting and forecasting Purpose This document provides step-by-step instructions for installing the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Workstation application and the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Client application. The Workstation application is a standalone installation of ARGUS Enterprise that does not require any server components to operate. All processing is performed on the PC, and the Workstation application can connect directly to a local SQL Express database or a shared, centralized database. The Client application is a desktop component of ARGUS Enterprise designed to connect to and operate with ARGUS Enterprise Server components. The ARGUS Enterprise Server component installation process is described in a separate document, Application Server Installation Guide for ARGUS Enterprise 10.6, which is available on the ARGUS support download site at http://customer.argussoftware.com/site/downloads/argusdownloadsmain.htm. 1 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

System Requirements Overview of ARGUS Desktop Deployment Please refer to the ARGUS Enterprise System Requirements online at http://argus.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2497 to determine the hardware and software requirements that match the scale of your deployment. System requirements can also be found in the Small, Medium, and Large Enterprise Planning documents. Installed Components Upon successful completion of the tasks described in this document, the following components will be installed: ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 ARGUS Enterprise Excel Add-In Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008 Microsoft.Net 4.0 Framework 2 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

The Workstation Application The Workstation application is a standalone installation of ARGUS Enterprise that does not require any server components to operate. All processing is performed on the PC, and the workstation application can connect directly to a local SQL Express database or a shared, centralized database. Upgrading a Prior Version Before installing ARGUS Enterprise 10.6, it is necessary to first check-in the product license key associated with any previous installations of ARGUS Enterprise on the same PC. Please see the instructions for checking in your product license key in the Licensing ARGUS Enterprise Workstation section at the end of this document. Installation Instructions Begin by downloading the installation program from the ARGUS support download site at http://customer.argussoftware.com/site/downloads/argusdownloadsmain.htm. When prompted, Run or Save the installation program, Setup.exe. Run: Choose Run to run the installation program if it is located on a local network. If you select this option, continue with Step 3. Save: Choose Save if the installation program is being downloaded from the ARGUS support site. Remember to note the file location for future reference. Navigate to the location of the installation program, and double click the Setup file to launch the installer. Click Run. The installer launches automatically. The installation program automatically detects whether your computer has Microsoft.NET Framework Version 4.0 installed and launches the Microsoft.NET installation if necessary. The following window appears if.net has not been installed. If you see this window, click Accept & Install. Continue with Step 5. 3 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

The following window appears if.net has been installed. If you see this window click Next. Continue with Step 7. To begin the.net installation, click Accept, and follow the instructions provided. 4 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Next to continue. Read and accept the license agreement. Click Next to continue. 5 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click the Workstation Installation option to install the ARGUS Enterprise Workstation. Note: You must be a Local Administrator or be part of the Local Admin Group to be able to install SQL Server Express during the Workstation Installation process. To change the default destination folder, enter the name of the new folder, or click Change to browse for another folder. Click Next to continue. 6 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Install to install the software, or click Back to review or change settings. The ARGUS Enterprise installation process begins. Following a successful installation, click Finish to exit the Setup Wizard. 7 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Database Wizard If the ARGUS Database Configuration Wizard appears automatically upon completion of the Workstation installation then continue with Step 4. 8 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

To launch the Wizard manually: 1. Select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu, or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. 2. In the left navigation bar, select AE 10.6 Database. Click Database Wizard. 3. Click Next to start the database wizard. 9 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

SQL Server Database Options The SQL Server Installation window offers two options: Use Existing Local SQL Server Express LocalDB: Select this option If you are installing ARGUS Enterprise for the first time (with no existing database) or if you are upgrading from any version after ARGUS Enterprise 9.5. Use an Existing SQL Server Instance: Select this option if you are upgrading from ARGUS Enterprise 9.5 or an earlier version of Argus Enterprise. Use an Existing SQL Server Instance 1. Choose Use an Existing SQL Server Instance. 2. Fill out the fields in the SQL Server Instance window. 10 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Note: You should select the Windows Authentication option in most cases. You should only select the SQL Server Authentication option if you are a database administrator or a person who will be responsible for making regular user changes and monitoring user access to the ARGUS Enterprise database. Note: You can attach an mdf file by clicking Attach and then using the Browse button to locate and attach the file. This option is also useful if you want to restore a backup copy of the mdf files. Alternatively, you can use the Select option to select a database from the drop-down list when you are connecting to a SQL Server instance3 other than LocalDB. 3. Click Next to upgrade your existing database. 4. Choose whether you want to run the database scripts now or to save the scripts for later use. If you have never performed a SQL backup on your database, you will see the following screen. Back up your database before continuing. If you choose to save the scripts, you will be prompted to select a file directory. Click Next to continue. 5. You may see the following screen if you choose to run the database scripts now. 6. Choose to alter the recovery model to bulked-logged or ignore the recovery model. Click Next to continue. 11 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Note: If you select the first option, we recommend that you perform a transaction log backup before clicking Next. 7. The Database Wizard executes the database scripts. 12 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

8. Click Finish to complete the new database installation or upgrade program. 13 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Report Deployment Wizard The ARGUS Enterprise Report Deployment Wizard should start automatically. If the wizard starts automatically, then continue to Step 3. If it does not, then open the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool. 1. In the left navigation bar, select Reporting. Click Deploy Reports. 14 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Deployment Types The Report Deployment Wizard offers two Deployment Types. You can choose to deploy your reports to either: SSRS, an existing Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services instance A folder on your machine or on a network Deploy to SSRS Choose Deploy to SSRS, an existing Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services instance. Click Next to continue. 16 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Enter your information in the Report Server URL and Base Folder fields. Click Next to continue. Select Windows Authentication or SQL Server Authentication, and enter your user name and password in the fields. Click Next. 17 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

4. Click Next to continue. 5. Once the Report Deployment Wizard finishes deploying your reports, click Finish to close this window. 6. The ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration program should start automatically. Please go to the Licensing ARGUS Enterprise Workstation or Client section near the end of this document for additional instructions. 18 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Deploy to Folder 1. Choose Deploy to Folder, a folder on your machine or on a network. Click Next. 2. The wizard prompts you to use the pre-selected directory, or you can select a different directory by clicking. Click Next to continue. 19 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

3. Click Next to continue. 4. Once the Report Deployment Wizard finishes deploying your reports, click Finish to close this window. 5. The ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool will open automatically. For more instructions, go to Licensing ARGUS Enterprise Workstation. 20 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

The ARGUS Enterprise Client The installation instructions continue by providing step-by-step instructions needed to install the ARGUS Enterprise Client. The client application is a desktop component of ARGUS Enterprise designed to connect to and operate with ARGUS Enterprise server components. Installation Instructions Begin by downloading the installation program from the ARGUS support download site at http://customer.argussoftware.com/site/downloads/argusdownloadsmain.htm. When prompted, run or save the installation program, Setup.exe. Run: Select Run to run the installation program if it is located on a local network. If you select this option, continue with step 3. Save: Select Save if the installation program is being downloaded from the ARGUS support site. Remember to note the file location for future reference. Navigate to the location of the installation program and double click the file to launch the installer. Click Run. Click Next to launch the Setup Wizard. 21 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Next to continue. Read and accept the license agreement. Click Next to continue. 22 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click the Client Installation option to install the ARGUS Enterprise Client. To change the default installation folder, enter the name of the new folder, or click Change to browse for another folder. Once you have selected your destination folder, click Next to continue. 23 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Install to install the software, or click Back to review or change settings. If prompted by Windows UAC, click Yes to allow the program to make changes to your computer. The installation process begins. 24 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Finish to close the installer. Note: ARGUS Enterprise client will not work if a different version of ARGUS Enterprise has been installed on the app server. CLIENT and APP SERVER must both be the same version. Note: When you launch the Configuration program, the License Expiry window reminds you to renew your license. Connecting to ARGUS Enterprise App Server To connect to the ARGUS Enterprise App Server, complete the following process: In ARGUS Enterprise, click Connect at the top left to launch the Manage Connections Wizard. Note: To launch the Wizard manually, select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu, or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. 2. Click New Connection to set up a new ARGUS Enterprise Server connection, or click Connect to continue. 26 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

New Connection using ARGUS Enterprise Server 1. Select the ARGUS Enterprise Server option in the drop-down list to create a connection to the ARGUS Enterprise server. 2. Enter the name and any comments in the Name and Comments fields. 3. Select either TCP/IP or HTTP as the connection type in the Connection type field. Enter the server name or IP address in the Server name or IP address field. Select the port number in the Port Number field, and click OK to continue. 27 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

4. Select the connection name you want to use, and click Connect to complete this process. 28 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

New Connection using SQL Server 1. Select the SQL Server option in the drop-down list to create a connection using SQL Server. 2. Enter the Administration and Settings information in the appropriate fields. 3. Use Test Connection to test your connection settings. 4. Click OK to complete this process. 29 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Installing ARGUS Enterprise Add-In for Excel You can install the ARGUS Enterprise Add-In for Excel from your Control Panel as a change to your current installation. Note: The version number highlighted varies based upon what version of ARGUS Enterprise you have installed. This method only works for the current user. Go to Start->Control Panel. Select Programs->Uninstall a program. Locate and right click the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 file. Select Change. Click Next to launch the Setup Wizard. 30 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Select Change. Select the component Excel 4 ADW in the Custom Setup window and click Next. 31 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Click Install to begin installation. You can also click Back to return to the previous window or Cancel to stop this process. Click Finish. Note: You can find the ARGUS Excel 4 ADW Add-In file in C:\Program Files (x86)\argus Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6\Client\Argus.ExcelAddIn.App. 32 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Licensing ARGUS Enterprise Workstation Checking out a License Checking out your license allows you to use the license and product key on the current computer. You need an Internet connection to check your license in or out. To launch the wizard, select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu, or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. 1. In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 window, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. 2. Select the license you want to check out in the right navigation pane under Local Machine. Click Check Out Selected License. 33 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

3. Select your product from the drop-down list. You may choose from the following options: ARGUS Enterprise Client ARGUS Enterprise Server 4. Enter your Email Address, Company Name, and License Keys in the fields provided. Select an area from the Where are you? drop-down list. Click Next to continue or Cancel to stop this process. 5. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement after you have reviewed the Software License Agreement. You may click Print to print a copy of the agreement for your records. Note: You can access this agreement at any time by clicking the Software License button in the Configuration Program. 34 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

6. Select your preferred method for check out. You may choose from the following options: Check out my license over the Internet. Check out my license by telephone you must use this option if you do not have an Internet connection. 7. Click Finish to complete this process. 35 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Adding a New License 1. In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. 2. Click Add New License. Refer to steps 2-6 above in the Checking out a License section. 37 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Refreshing a License Refreshing your license allows you to retrieve license information from the IBL server and update the license information saved in the local store. 1. In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. 2. Select the license to be refreshed. Click Refresh Selected Licenses. This action completes this process. 38 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Checking in a License Checking in your license allows you to reuse the license and product key to upgrade to a new version, reinstall, or use on a different computer. To check your license in or out, you need an Internet connection. Select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu, or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. Checking in by Internet In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. Select the license to be checked in. Click Check-In Selected Licenses. 3. Select Check in my licenses over the Internet. Click Next to continue. 39 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

4. Click Finish to complete this process. Checking In by Phone 1. Refer to Steps 1-2 from the Checking in by Internet section above. 2. Select Check in my licenses by telephone, and click Next to continue. 40 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

3. Select your area from the Please tell us where you are located drop-down list. Click Next to continue or Cancel to stop this process. 4. Call the appropriate software support number for your region. Be prepared to give Support your license key and site code. Enter the authorization code where specified. Removing a License Removing a license will prevent the license and product key from being used on the current computer. To remove your license, you need an Internet connection. Select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. 1. In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. 2. Select the license to be removed in the right navigation pane under Local Machine. Click Remove Selected Licenses. 3. Click Finish to complete this process. 43 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.

Set Named Users Setting named users determines which user has the ability to use a given license at a given time. By default, the Windows user account that is logged in and performing the ARGUS Enterprise installation/database configuration is considered the Administrator of the system. This Set Named Users area is used if another user (e.g. an IT Admin) logged into the user s machine to perform the installation/database configuration or entered Administrator credentials when launching the ARGUS Enterprise Configuration utility to perform the database configuration. The Set Named Users window would list that user s Windows account rather than the user that will be using ARGUS Enterprise. If the User performing the installation is the same as the User who will be using ARGUS Enterprise, no further action is needed. Select ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration from the ARGUS Software\ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 folder in the Start > All Programs menu, or run the application file ARGUS.ConfigurationUtility.UI.exe in the database folder from Windows Explorer. 1. In the ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 Configuration tool, select Licensing in the left navigation pane. 2. In the right navigation pane, select the license. 3. Change, Repair, or Remove Installation Change Installation You can change installed features in the current installation. Navigate to the location of the installation program, and double click the file to launch the installer. Click Next to launch the Setup Wizard. Custom Setup Window The Custom Setup window allows you to choose specific software components and a location for installation. 1. Select only the ARGUS Enterprise server you wish to install (i.e., the application service, the process service, or the data integration service). 2. Click Browse to change the installation path or to install one or more of the services on a different drive. To remove a component from installation, de-select the component. Note: Some administrators also install clients (i.e., Excel 4 ADW, Enterprise Client) if they want to test directly on this same server. However, this is not recommended. 3. Repair Installation You can fix missing or corrupt files from the current installation. 1. Navigate to the location of the installation program, and double click the file to launch the installer. 2. Remove Installation You can remove the current installation. 1. Navigate to the location of the installation program and double-click the file to launch the installer. 2. Click Next to continue. 3. Select Remove to remove ARGUS Enterprise 10.6 from your computer. 52 2015 ARGUS Software, Inc.
