Moving Beyond Sleep Dentistry: Interdisciplinary Resolution Strategies for Our Airway Patients. Dr. Jeff Rouse (USA) Tuesday, February 2 nd (4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm PST) Dentistry s future is Airway. The dental damage of sleep fragmentation and airway insufficiency can be detected in every dental practice, every single day. Malocclusion, wear, erosion, attachment loss, muscle pain, and fracture can all be linked to a difficulty in managing the airway. The systemic and neurocognitive alterations are even more destructive. The 21 st century practitioner must be forward-thinking in not only controlling the disease with a mandibular advancement appliance, but also how to most effectively resolve the medical and dental co-morbidities of airway/sleep insufficiency. Dr. Rouse will introduce an Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) Trial that will lead dentists to a strategy for resolution and proper referrals. Case studies to assist practitioners in working with medical and dental colleagues in defining an interdisciplinary resolution strategy will be presented. 1. Understand the airway/sleep-disease connection and the role of the dental team. 2. Learn treatment options from ENT to my functional therapy. 3. Define a resolution strategy based on the patient s response to the ANS Trail. Jeffrey S. Rouse, D.D.S. maintains a full-time private practice and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After graduation from dental school in San Antonio, Dr Rouse completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at the University of Connecticut Health Science Center. He practiced family dentistry for twelve years before returning to school. Dr. Rouse received his Specialty Certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2004. He is a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontists, and Past President of the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Rouse has written numerous journal articles including a portion of the Annual Review of Selected Dental Literature published each summer in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. In addition, he has contributed chapters on porcelain veneers and anterior ceramic crowns to three editions of a dental textbook. He also has a textbook in press with Quintessence on Global Analysis Diagnosis and Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning written with his teaching partner, Dr. Bill Robbins. Dr. Rouse lectures nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics ranging from dental esthetics to sleep prosthodontics. <4>

Simplicity in Advanced Aesthetics: The Style Italiano Method. Dr. Jordi Manauta (MEX) Thursday, March 17 th (4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm PDT) We have heard many times that highly aesthetic restorations need sophisticated and complex approaches, only reachable to the gifted ones. What if I tell you that it is possible to teach and repeat a feasible method that allows you to achieve perfect restorations with a high rate of success. This approach enables you to do three things: rational color matching, exact reproduction of the selected color, and distinguish and learn from eventual mistakes. Material selection, layering techniques and morphology management are mandatory in contemporary practice, in order to match the slightest nuances in our patient s teeth, but always without encountering significant difficulties. The primary goal of the course is to present simple, useful techniques that the practitioner can apply immediately after the course, improving quality of his work, especially in the areas of function and aesthetics. Born in Mexico City, Dr. Jordi Manauta graduated with a degree in dentistry from the Technological University of Mexico (UNITEC) with major grants. He continued his postgraduate studies in operative and aesthetic dentistry, earning a Master s Degree from the International University of Catalonia (UIC) in Barcelona, Spain. He has and continues to develop various materials and instruments for aesthetic dentistry and photography in collaboration with international companies. He is a Visiting Lecturer in Seville, Siena, Marseille and Valencia universities and Scientific Consultant for two European journals. Dr. Manauta is founder member of the Style Italiano study group. He is a Scientific Consultant for two European journals, and the author of the book Layers (Quintessence, 2012), Documentology and Forma, as well as the author and co-author of many publications in international journals. Dr. Manauta lectures internationally on a variety of topics. 1. Become extremely effective in colour matching. 2. Master stratification of composite resins. 3. Dominate surface and morphology. 4. Learn how adhesive dentistry can last very long. <5>

Dentistry in a Digital World: Systems, Workflow, and Implementation. Dr. Dennis Fasbinder (USA) Tuesday, May 10 th (4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm PDT) Digital technology for dental application is expanding at a rapid rate with the proliferation of multiple new systems, materials, and treatment workflows. The presentation will focus attention on comparisons of current systems with the aim to understanding their capability and clinical application for efficient implementation in private practice. Two major categories will be discussed: Digital Impression systems and Chair-side CAD/CAM systems as well as material and restorative capabilities. Current scientific evidence on the clinical outcomes of these innovative workflows will be discussed with the intent to provide guidance for practice integration. 1. The participant will be able to understand the differences in equipment and functions for digital impression systems and chairside CAD/ CAM systems. 2. The participant will be able to understand the variety of clinical applications for both digital impression and chairside CAD/CAM systems. 3. The participant will have an understanding of current clinical research evidence as it relates to clinical outcomes with digital impression and chairside CAD/CAM systems. 4. The participant will be able to understand the elements for integrating chairside CAD/CAM systems into a practice. Dr. Fasbinder is currently the Director of the Computerized Dentistry Program and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Cardiology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics, University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. He is board certified in General Dentistry and maintains a part-time private practice in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Optimal Treatment Planning in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Francesco Mintrone (Italy) Thursday, September 8 th (4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm PDT) The prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with missing teeth and bone structure adds a new problem to the already challenging targets of the esthetic and functional rehabilitation. The use of implants to rehabilitate esthetics and function of a mouth has to follow a precise sequence, considering carefully the 3D positioning of the implant. One of the most common mistakes is planning the implant position in relation to the existing bone without considering the precise prosthetic outline of the future rehabilitation. This lecture will analyze in detail how to establish optimal treatment planning in implant-supported restoration through a correct esthetic evaluation and thanks to the use of the dedicated software, how to foresee the ideal implant position in relation to the future free gingival margin. Sample cases where the target is to maintain the bone and soft tissue profile will be evaluated, as well as cases where it is mandatory to regenerate the bone in order to obtain a predictable esthetic result. Dr. Francesco Mintrone began his career as a general dental technician and later specialized as a ceramist in fixed prothesis. After graduating in Dentistry at the University Of Modena, Italy, he attended several courses on prosthetic dentistry and implant surgery. He has authored several articles published on international scientific magazines and he lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to implants and natural dentition. He focuses his professional activity mainly on aesthetics and prosthetic rehabilitation on implants and natural dentition in his private practices in Modena, Italy. 1. Learn the thinking process in esthetically-guided implant dentistry. 2. Learn how to find the ideal 3D implant position. 3. Learn how to handle bone and soft tissue management in atrophic jaws. Great importance will be given also to the soft tissue management so to improve the esthetics and longevity of oral rehabilitation. <7>
