Downloading a package in Lite Mode 1. Introduction Your WordCom File Transfer account settings determine which of the features and capabilities described in this user guide are available to you. If you need to use a certain feature that is documented but not available, please contact your WordCom Account Manager. Note: This document assumes that you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer. WordCom File Transfer Web Client is also supported on Netscape (v7.0 and higher) and Mozilla (v1.4 and higher), though you may experience slight variations in functionality between the supported browsers. 2. Logging into WordCom s File Transfer Web Client To log into WordCom s File Transfer Web Client: 1. Open your Web browser. 2. In the browser s Address field, enter the WordCom, Inc. File Transfer Server URL and press [Enter]. The Wordcom, Inc. File Transfer Server URL should be provided by your Account Manager. The default URL is: WordCom, Inc. Note: If this is the first time you are using WordCom s File Transfer Web Client or if WordCom s Server has been upgraded since your last session, the WordCom File Transfer Web Client Setup Wizard opens. For more information, see WordCom s File Transfer Web Client Setup Wizard. The WordCom File Transfer Web Client Setup Wizard will also open if the WordCom s Server cookie was deleted since the last time you used WordCom s File Transfer Web Client. For more information about cookies, see Allowing Cookies for the WordCom, Inc. File Transfer Server Site. Click Continue to proceed. Then the Web Client checks to see if the browser allows cookies. Otherwise, the browser loads the WordCom File Transfer Web Client login page. 3. In the User Name field, specify your WordCom File Transfer user name. 4. In the Password field (case sensitive), specify your WordCom File Transfer password. If permitted by your Account Manager, you can change your password later. 5. To establish a secure connection to WordCom s Server, select the Secure connection check box (should already be checked). 6. To bypass the login procedure each time you open WordCom s File Transfer Web Client, select the Log in automatically check box. 7. Click Log In. Then you are prompted to install ActiveX Components. If your network policy restricts you from installing ActiveX Components then you may resort to the Web Client s Lite Version. After logging in, WordCom s File Transfer Web Client will display one of the following pages depending on your user account capabilities. Account Capabilities Send/Receive files to/from your WordCom Account Manager -OR- Only receive files from your WordCom Account Manager Shared Folders only. 3. Toolbar Buttons The table below provides a description for each of the toolbar buttons. Button Click To Send packages. See also Sending a Package. Download files (only displayed in Files view). See also Downloading Files in Files View. Delete packages in your Inbox, Sent Packages or Deleted folder. Delete all packages in your Deleted folder. Switch between Files view and Packages view. The current view will be applied to all your folders and any search results. For more information on the View options, see View Preferences. Open the online Help file. Refresh the current page. Log out of your account. 4. Sending a Package in Enhanced Operating Mode Note: This only pertains to the WordCom File Transfer Users who were able to install ActiveX components. If you were not able to install ActiveX WordCom, Inc. File Transfer Web Client Instructions Page 5
components and you are using the Lite version of the program, then please scroll to the section: Sending a Package in Lite Mode. To send a package: 1. Click the toolbar button. The New Package window opens displaying the Package tab. 2. In the To field, specify the recipient name(s). You can either type them or select them from the Address Book by clicking the button next to the To. You can specify users, distribution lists and/or hosts. Multiple recipient names must be separated by a semi-colon and no spaces, for example: mike;jane;peter;mozart:serenade WordCom s File Transfer Web Client auto-complete feature will automatically complete unambiguous recipient names. For example, if the recipient's user name is "andrew" and no other user names begin with "an", typing "an" is sufficient. WordCom, Inc. File Transfer Web Client Instructions Page 6
If you typed the recipient names, it is a good idea to verify whether you specified valid recipient names by clicking the icon at the end of the To field. For more information about checking recipient names, see Checking Recipient Names. 3. (Optional) In the Subject field, enter a package subject. 4. (Optional) In the Message field, write a message to accompany the package. 5. To choose files: a. Click the Add button to the right of the Files field. The Choose file dialog box opens. b. Either double-click a file or select a file and then click Open. The file is added to the list. 6. To choose multiple files at the same time: a. Click the Add button to the right of the Files field. The Choose file dialog box opens. b. Perform one of the following tasks as appropriate: o o c. Click Open. Adding a group of files: While holding down the [Shift] key, click the file at the beginning of the group and then click the file at the end of the group. Adding individual files: While holding down the [Ctrl] key, click the files that you want to add. The files are added to the Files field. 7. To remove a file, select the file in the File pane and click Remove. (Use the Shift and Ctrl keys to select multiple files for removal). 8. To send the package, click the Send button at the bottom right of the tab (The Advanced tab also contains a Send button). The Upload Progress window opens. If you are using Java as your operating mode, when sending the package a Java security dialog may ask you whether you want to run BHubApplet. This dialog will only be displayed if: o o You did not agree to always trust BHubApplet the last time you were prompted to do so (either while completing the WordCom File Transfer Web Client Setup Wizard or while sending a package). The security certificate has been deleted from the Java trusted certificates store. Agree to run the BHubApplet applet. For more information, about sending methods, see Operating Mode. WordCom, Inc. Upload Progress Window The Upload Progress window opens when you send a package. The Upload Progress window provides a progress report and transfer-related information, including: Current file - The name of the file that is currently being uploaded. Estimated time left - The upload progress in terms of remaining time. Transfer rate - The current transfer rate. Transfer log - Provides various information about the transfer including the name of the directory in which the package was created, the total size of the package, the package ID and how many files were transferred successfully. The total number of files transferred includes two files (<name>.control and <name>.content) that are created during the packaging process and that are required by WordCom s Server. In other words, if you selected four files to transfer, the transfer report will state that six files were successfully transferred. To pause a transfer: Click the Pause button. To resume a paused a transfer: Click the Resume button. To abort a transfer: Click the Cancel button and then click Done. To close the Sending Package window: Click the Done button. When sending a package, you can override several of your default transfer and security preferences. For more information, see Advanced Tab. For more information on default preferences, see Setting Preferences. 5. Sending a Package in Lite Operating Mode To send a package: 1. Click the toolbar button. 2. Complete steps 2-4 above. 3. To select a file: a. Click the Add button. A Browse button appears. b. Click the Browse button. The Choose file dialog box opens. c. Double-click the file that you want to send. The file is added to the field. d. To select more files, repeat steps a-c. 4. To send the package, click Send. WordCom, Inc. The Upload Progress window opens, showing you the files that you selected to send. The progress icon indicates that the upload is in progress. 5. To abort the upload operation, click Abort. When the upload completes, the following information is displayed. 6. Click Done to close the Upload Progress window. When sending a package, you can override several of your default transfer and security preferences. For more information, see Advanced Tab. 6. Enhanced Download Note: This only pertains to the WordCom File Transfer Users who were able to install ActiveX components. If you were not able to install ActiveX components and you are using the Lite version of the program, then please scroll to the section: Standard Download. If you pause a download and then click Cancel or if the Package Details window/browser is closed while a download is in progress, the download becomes recoverable. Downloads that are suddenly interrupted due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. power failure) are also recoverable. You can resume the download at a later date as described in Resuming Incomplete Downloads. This is especially useful, for example, if you are downloading a large file and network problems interrupt the download or if you need to perform an urgent task that requires you to close the browser before the download has completed. To download files: 1. Select the check boxes next to the files that you want to download. 2. To replace files existing files with the same name, select the Replace existing files check box. 3. To verify that the file(s) transferred from the source machine are identical to the files that arrive at the target machine, select the Verify files check box. If a mismatch is detected, the transfer will only be aborted if the Abort on file transfer error check box is also selected. 4. To abort the download if one of the files cannot be downloaded, select the Abort on file transfer error check box. If you do not select this check box, the download will continue even if some of the files cannot be downloaded. 5. Click Download. The Browse for Folder (ActiveX) or Select directory (Java) dialog box opens. 6. Select the folder in which you want the files to be saved and then click OK (ActiveX) or Select (Java) to start the download. The Download Progress window opens. The Download Progress window opens when you download a package using the enhanced download option. 7. Lite Download Standard download enables the download of files using standard HTTP/S protocol. If your selected operating mode is "Lite," you will only be able to download files using this method. To download multiple files: 1. Perform steps described 1-2 above. Note: If you selected more than three files to download you will be asked whether you want multiple Save As dialog boxes to be opened simultaneously. 2. Click the Download button. A File Download prompt will open. 3. Click Save. When you click Save, a Save As dialog box will open for the current file and a File Download prompt will open for the next file that you selected to download. 4. For each file, specify where you want to save the file and then click Save. To download a single file: 1. Click the file that you want to download. 2. Click the Download button.
