Introduction Introduction Attunity MFT Web Client enables users to perform the following tasks using a standard Web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome): Exchange files with other Attunity MFT users or hosts Upload and download files to and from a shared folder on Attunity MFT Server Upload and download files to and from SharePoint (via Attunity MFT Server) Download files from other Attunity MFT users Your Attunity MFT account settings determine which of the features and capabilities described in this user guide are available to you. If you need to use a certain feature that is documented but not available, please contact your Attunity MFT administrator. Note: This document assumes that you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Attunity MFT Web Client is also compatible with Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome, though you may experience slight variations in functionality between the supported browsers. Finding Your Way around this Guide The following table details which parts of this document are relevant to you, according to the capabilities assigned to you by your Attunity MFT Administrator: Capability Send/receive files to/from other Attunity MFT users or hosts Upload/download files to/from shared folders on Attunity MFT Server or SharePoint. Send/receive files to/from other Attunity MFT users or hosts Upload/download files to/from shared folders on Attunity MFT Server or SharePoint. 8 Introduction Terminology Package Files are sent in packages. When sending files, Attunity MFT Web Client creates a special folder known as a package that contains your files as well as various information required to process the package such as the names of the package recipients, when the package expires, and so on. After you send a package, it is uploaded to Attunity MFT Server where it undergoes sorting and processing before being downloaded by the recipients and/or delivered to hosts. Enhanced The Attunity MFT administrator can either configure your Attunity MFT Web Client operating mode as "Lite" (see below) or "Enhanced". If your operating mode is "Enhanced", active components will be downloaded from Attunity MFT Server to your computer (if you agree). Active components provide enhanced functionality, enabling you to pause and resume transfers, easily manage the download of multiple files, recover transfers, encrypt/decrypt files and access shared folders. Despite the benefits that Attunity MFT's active components provide, your organization's corporate policy may prohibit the use of active components or you simply may not need the functionality that they provide. If this is the case, you can change your operating mode to "Lite" as described in Operating Mode. For more information on Shared Folders, see 10. Shared Folders. Lite The Attunity MFT administrator can either configure your Attunity MFT user account as "Lite" or "Enhanced" (see above). If your account is configured as "Lite", you will only be able to send packages and download files sent to you by other Attunity MFT users or hosts. Hosts Hosts are computers either within or outside an organization that your Attunity MFT administrator has enabled you to send files to or receive files from. Host nicknames When sending files to a host, you must specify the host nickname and, if required, the target directory nickname. The host nickname is an alias for the actual host IP address while the target directory nickname is an alias for the actual target directory on the host. If instructed by your Attunity MFT administrator, you may only need to specify the host nickname (and not the target nickname). Specifying only the host nickname will send the package to several directories on the same host. Host address format when host and target nicknames are required: host_nickname:target_nickname Example: mozart:requiem Host address format when only the host nickname is required: host_nickname Example: mozart Attunity Ltd. 8

Minimum Requirements Minimum Requirements Attunity MFT Web Client is supported on the following browsers: Internet Explorer (v6.0 and above), Firefox (v2 and above), Safari (v2 and above) and Google Chrome (1.0 and above). The following section explains which browser settings are required for compatibility with Attunity MFT Web Client. IMPORTANT: The required browser settings are determined by your account capabilities. If your Attunity MFT user account is configured as "Enhanced" all requirements must be met. If your account is configured as "Lite" only the requirement pertaining to your browser's cookie settings is mandatory. For information about your account capabilities, contact your Attunity MFT administrator. The location of the required browser settings is different for each of the supported browsers and may even be determined by which versions of the browser you are using. The explanations below are accurate for the following browser versions: Internet Explorer 7 Firefox 3 Safari 3.2 Google Chrome 1.0 If some of the settings in your browser version differ from the versions described in this document, please refer to your browser's online help. When you open Attunity MFT Web Client for the first time, the Attunity MFT Web Client Initial Setup Wizard opens. The Attunity MFT Web Client Initial Setup Wizard enables you to enter required settings and tests their compatibility with your browser's current configuration. Thus, it is strongly recommended to verify that your browser meets Attunity MFT Web Client's requirements before using Attunity MFT Web Client for the first time. See also Attunity MFT Web Client Setup Wizard. ActiveX Requirements ActiveX is Attunity MFT Web Client's default operating mode. The best (and recommended) way of ensuring that your browser's ActiveX settings are compatible with Attunity MFT Web Client is by adding the Attunity MFT Server site to Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites list. However, even if you don't add the Attunity MFT Server site to Internet Explorer's Trusted Sites list, your current browser settings should meet Attunity MFT Web Client's ActiveX requirements. For an explanation of how to verify your browser's current ActiveX settings, see Verifying Internet Explorer's ActiveX Settings. Attunity Ltd. 9

Attunity Ltd. 76

9. Setting Preferences View Preferences Click the toolbar button and select Files or Packages to change your current display mode. The selected display mode will be applied to all folders as well as any search results. By default, both files and packages are sorted by date, though you can sort them however you prefer by clicking the column headings. Files View In Files view, you can click a file to download the file or you can click the subject to open the package to which the file belongs. If you click the subject, you will also be able to view and download any other files associated with the package. Note: Individual files cannot be deleted. Only complete packages can be deleted. For instructions on downloading files in Files view, see Downloading Files in Files View. Packages View In Packages view, a list of packages is displayed. To view and download package files, click the package subject. For instructions on downloading files in Package view, see Downloading Files in Packages View. Attunity Ltd. 77

9. Setting Preferences Transfer Preferences To access your Transfer Preferences: Click the button in the left pane and then click Transfer in the sub-menu that opens. In the Transfer Preferences page, you can configure the following options: Operating Mode Proxy Server Package Progress Notification IMPORTANT: Click the Apply button to save your preferences. If you navigate to another page without clicking Apply, your preferences will not be saved. Operating Mode If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, Attunity MFT Web Client's enhanced functionality can be provided either by the Attunity MFT ActiveX Control or the Attunity MFT Java Applet. With other supported browsers, Java Applet is the only available operating mode. To be able to switch between operating modes, your user account permissions must be set to "Enhanced". If your user account permissions are set to "Lite", the other operating modes will not be available. For information about the differences between Enhanced and Lite modes, see Terminology. Using a Proxy Server You can upload packages to Attunity MFT Server via a proxy server. This option is not available in Lite mode. Attunity Ltd. 78

9. Setting Preferences To use a proxy server in Java mode: Select the Proxy server address option and then specify the proxy address and port number in the adjacent fields. To use a proxy server in ActiveX mode: Select the Use Internet Explorer settings option. See Operating Mode for more information on the ActiveX and Java Applet options. Package Notifications You can request to be notified by when any of the following events occur: Package has been distributed to recipients' inboxes on Attunity MFT Server Package has been delivered to hosts Package activity notification You will be notified whenever recipients open the package or download any of the package file. Note: If you select this option, you will also receive a final status report when the package expires. The report will inform you which files each recipient downloaded and which recipients did not open the package (if any). To request package notifications: 1. Select any of the available options. 2. Specify an address in the designated field. By default, your address is shown (if configured in your Attunity MFT Server account settings). Attunity Ltd. 79

9. Setting Preferences Security Preferences In the Security Preferences page, you can define package encryption and signing preferences, choose to hide package recipients from each other, and allow recipients to download package files without logging in. Note: Package encryption and signing options are only available in Enhanced operating mode. See also Operating Mode. To access your Security Preferences: Click the Preferences button in the left pane and then click Security Preferences. IMPORTANT: Click the Apply button to save your preferences. If you navigate to another page without clicking Apply, your preferences will not be saved. Uploading a Package Using a Secure Connection You can upload a package to Attunity MFT Server using a secure connection (SSL). Note: This option requires a certificate to be installed on the IIS Server of the Attunity MFT Server machine. If you want to use this option but are not sure if the required certificate is installed, first contact your Attunity MFT Administrator. To upload a package using a secure connection: Select the Secure Connection check box. Securely Uploading Packages to Attunity MFT Server in Java Mode In Java mode, you can securely upload packages and authenticate your identity to Attunity MFT Server using a Java keystore certificate. Attunity Ltd. 80

9. Setting Preferences To encrypt the package data and authenticate your identity to Attunity MFT Server: 1. In the Transfer Preferences page, select the Java applet option. 2. In the Security Preferences page, Select the Secure Connection check box. 3. Select the Use Java Client Authentication check box. 4. In the Java keystore file field, specify the full path (i.e. location and name) of your Java keystore, either manually or using the browse button. 5. In the Keystore file password field, enter your keystore password. Encrypting Files You can choose whether to use the Attunity MFT Server certificate as your default encryption method. When you send a package you can choose an alternative encryption method if desired. Encrypting Files Using Attunity MFT Server's Certificate You can use Attunity MFT Server's certificate to encrypt a package between your machine and Attunity MFT Server. After the package is uploaded to Attunity MFT Server, it is decrypted using Attunity MFT Server's private key. If the recipients' public keys reside on Attunity MFT Server and their profiles are configured accordingly, the package will be re-encrypted with their public keys before being downloaded by/delivered to them. To encrypt files using Attunity MFT Server's certificate: Select the Use Attunity MFT Server certificate option. Signing Files You can sign a package using a certificate containing your private key. Signing a package proves that you are the sender of the package. Attunity Ltd. 81

9. Setting Preferences To sign a package in ActiveX mode: 1. Select the Sign files using this certificate check box. 2. In the designated field, specify a unique part of your certificate subject. To sign a package in Java Applet mode: 1. Complete the Java keystore file and Keystore file password fields at the top of the page. 2. Select the Sign files using this certificate check box. 3. In the designated field, specify a unique part of you certificate subject. 4. In the Signing certificate password field, specify the certificate password. Hiding Recipients from Each Other To prevent recipients from seeing who else the package was sent to, select the Hide recipients from each other check box. Allowing Recipients to Download Files without Logging In To allow recipients to download files without logging in, select the Allow recipients to download files without logging in check box. This option will only be displayed if it is has been enabled by your Attunity MFT administrator. Note: Selecting this option makes it easier for the recipients to download the files, but it will also allow anyone with access to the recipients computers to download the package files (since login is not required). Therefore, it is advisable to only select this option if the files that you are sending do not contain any confidential information. Attunity Ltd. 82

9. Setting Preferences Advanced Preferences In the Advanced Preferences page, the following options can be configured: Verbose log files Temporary Directory Transfer Recovery Note: These options are only available in Enhanced operating mode. See also Operating Mode. To access your Advanced Preferences: Click the Preferences button in the left pane and then click Advanced Preferences. IMPORTANT: Click the Apply button to save your preferences. If you navigate to another page without clicking Apply, your preferences will not be saved. Creating a Verbose Log File Only select the Create verbose log file option if instructed by technical support. If you are running Attunity MFT Web Client in Java applet mode, messages will be displayed in the Java Console. If you are running Attunity MFT Web Client in ActiveX model, the verbose log file will be created in: <drive>:\documents and Preferences\<local_user>\Local Preferences\Temp\BHub_Client_ocx.log To create a verbose log file: Select the Create verbose log file check box. See also: Operating Mode. Specifying a Temporary Directory If you enabled the package zipping or encryption options, the source files will be copied to a temporary directory before the package is created. The files will either be copied to the default Attunity MFT temporary directory (located under your Windows home directory) or a different directory, according to your preference. The path of the default Attunity MFT temporary is determined by your current Attunity MFT Web Client operating mode: ActiveX or Java Applet (see below). Attunity Ltd. 83

9. Setting Preferences To copy the source files to the default temporary directory: Select the My home directory option. If you are using Attunity MFT Web Client in ActiveX mode, the files will be copied to: %temp%\softlink\bhub\temp If you are using Attunity MFT Web Client in Java mode, the files will be copied to the path defined by the Java system property: user.home On Windows machines, for example, user.home points to the following path: %userprofile%\softlink\bhub\temp Note: In the Transfer Preferences page, you can choose whether to use ActiveX or Java Applet operating mode. To copy the source files to a different directory: Select the Temporary directory option and then specify the full path of the temporary directory in the designated field. Transfer Recovery The source files can be copied to a temporary directory before the package is created, but will only remain in the temporary directory if the package upload fails. This is recommended if the source file content is frequently changing as it ensures that, in the event of transfer recovery, the files that were originally transferred will be recovered (and not a different version). To copy the source files to a temporary directory before the package is created: Select the Copy files to a temporary directory option. See also Specifying a Temporary Directory above. Attunity Ltd. 84

10. Shared Folders 10. Shared Folders Shared Folders enable you to upload/download files to/from the Attunity MFT Server machine or a SharePoint site. Note: The Shared Folders feature will only be available if the following conditions have been met: Your Attunity MFT account settings allow you to use Shared Folders Your operating mode is set to ActiveX control or Java applet Your upload/download permissions are defined in an Operation which is assigned to you by the Attunity MFT administrator. Several Operations may be assigned to you according to your specific file transfer needs. For instance, one Operation may only allow you to upload specific file types to a predefined target directory while another may grant you unlimited access to both source and target directories. Not only directories, but also the names and types of files that you are permitted to upload or download can be predefined by the Attunity MFT administrator. Note: Certain Operations may require you to log in to Attunity MFT Server using a secure connection (HTTPS). These Operations are indicated by a padlock symbol as shown below: Similarly, access to certain Operations may be restricted to users whose digital login certificate meets criteria that has been predefined by the Attunity MFT administrator. These Operations are indicated by a quill symbol as shown below: If you encounter any of these symbols and are unsure how to proceed, consult your Attunity MFT administrator. Attunity Ltd. 85

10. Shared Folders Uploading Files to Attunity MFT Server or SharePoint Some Operations may allow you to upload files to/from Attunity MFT Server while others may allow you to upload files to a SharePoint Site. This section describes how to upload files to Attunity MFT Server. The instructions for uploading files to SharePoint are basically the same. The one major difference is the format of the target location (which may be predefined). When uploading files to Attunity MFT Server, the target location is a path on the Attunity MFT Server machine e.g. c:\temp\incoming. When uploading files to a SharePoint site, the target location is the SharePoint site URL e.g. Documents. The procedure described below assumes that you have selected an Operation that allows you to freely choose file types as well as source and target location. This may not always be the case as some Operations may impose restrictions on the types of files that you are able to upload and may not permit you to choose the source/target location (a detailed explanation is provided in Step 2 below). To upload files to Attunity MFT Server: 1. Click the button in the left pane The Upload Operations page is displayed: Each Operation has a name and description (provided by the Attunity MFT administrator). The name is displayed to the right of the word Operation, for example, Operation: Restricted Upload while the description is displayed in smaller font below the Operation name. Ideally, the name and description should ideally provide a summary of the Operation permissions. 2. Click the Operation that you want to perform. Attunity Ltd. 86

10. Shared Folders The page for the selected Operation is loaded. In the example Operation shown above the user is only permitted to upload text files from the local directory c:\source to the directory c:\target on Attunity MFT Server. All fields related to directory (source and target) and file type selection are read-only. The user can however choose whether to replace existing files, whether to verify uploaded files and whether the upload should be aborted if a transfer error occurs. All of these permissions including whether to hide the names of permitted directories and file types are determined by the Attunity MFT administrator. Attunity Ltd. 87

10. Shared Folders In the Operation below, for example, the user is able to freely choose the source directory and which files to upload. The target directory however has been predefined. 1. In the Look in field, specify the source directory path (on your computer) or click any of the folders in the Name column. 2. Optionally, in the File type field, type the extension of the file type to display and then click Go. For example, to only display text files, type *.txt. 3. Select the files that you want to upload. 4. If allowed, in the Choose a server target folder field, specify the path of the target folder (on Attunity MFT Server). 5. To replace files in the target directory which have the same names as the source files, select the Replace existing files check box. 6. To verify that the source file has not changed during transit, select Verify uploaded files check box. 7. To abort the file transfer if a transfer error occurs, select the Abort on file transfer error check box. 8. To start the upload, click the Upload button at the bottom of the page. Attunity Ltd. 88

10. Shared Folders The Transfer Progress window opens. For a description of the Transfer Progress window, see Transfer Progress Window. You can pause and resume the upload by clicking the Pause and Resume buttons as required. After the upload completes, click the Done button to close the Transfer Progress screen. 9. To abort the download, click Cancel and then click Done. Attunity Ltd. 89

10. Shared Folders Downloading Files from Attunity MFT Server or SharePoint Some Operations may allow you to download files from Attunity MFT Server while others may allow you to download files from a SharePoint Site. This section describes how to download files from Attunity MFT Server. The instructions for downloading files from SharePoint are basically the same. The one major difference is the format of the source location (which may be predefined). When downloading files from Attunity MFT Server, the source location is a path on the Attunity MFT Server machine e.g. c:\temp\incoming. When downloading files from a SharePoint site, the source location is the SharePoint site URL e.g. Documents. The procedure described below assumes that you have selected an Operation that allows you to freely choose file types as well as source and target locations. This may not always be the case as some Operations impose restrictions on the types of files that you are able to download and do not permit you to choose the source/target location (a detailed explanation is provided in Step 2 below). To view a list of download operations that you are permitted to perform: 1. Click the button in the left pane The Download Operations page is loaded: Each Operation has a name and description (determined by the Attunity MFT administrator). The name is displayed to the right of the word Operation, for example, Operation: Restricted Download while the description is displayed in smaller font below the Operation name. The name and description should provide a summary of the Operation permissions. 2. Click the Operation that you want to perform. Attunity Ltd. 90

10. Shared Folders The page for the selected Operation is loaded. In the example Operation shown above the user is only permitted to download text files from a predefined directory on Attunity MFT Server to a predefined directory on the target (local) machine. All fields related to directory (source and target) and file type selection are read-only. In addition, the name of the source directory is hidden from the user. The user can however choose whether to replace existing files, whether to verify downloaded files and whether the transfer should be aborted if a transfer error occurs. All of these permissions, including whether to hide the names of permitted directories and/or file types are determined by the Attunity MFT administrator. Attunity Ltd. 91

10. Shared Folders In the Operation below, for example, the user is able to freely choose which files to download as well as the target directory. However, the Attunity MFT Administrator has restricted the source folder to c:\source and its subfolders. If the user attempts to browse for files in any other location, for example d:\ or c:\, an "access denied" error will be shown. 1. In the Look in field, specify the source directory path (on the Attunity MFT Server machine). 2. Optionally, in the File type field, type the extension of the file type to display and then click Go. For example, to only display text files, type *.txt. 3. Select the files that you want to download. 4. In the Download to field, specify the path of the target folder (on your machine). 5. To replace files in the target directory which have the same names as the source files, select the Replace existing files check box. 6. To verify that the source file has not changed during transit, select Verify downloaded files check box. 7. To abort the file transfer if a transfer error occurs, select the Abort on file transfer error check box. 8. To start the download, click the Download button at the bottom of the page. Attunity Ltd. 92

10. Shared Folders The Transfer Progress window opens. For a description of the Transfer Progress window, see Transfer Progress Window. You can pause and resume the download by clicking the Pause and Resume buttons as required. After the download completes, click the Done button to close the File Transfer Progress window. 9. To abort the download, click Abort. Attunity Ltd. 93

A. Package Properties A.
